Hey guys,

I am assembling my block and ran into a problem. Once I got the new bearings in (.25mm oversize) and tightened down the carrier bolts to spec, the crank wont turn at all!

The shop I took the crank to, to get serviced, told me that they turned the journals to 0.25mm oversize. Does anyone think that this is the problem? I'm guessing that they didn't turn it to spec and they need to take more off.....

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks!

Might want to plastigauge the mains. Measure the crank yourself if you can and take it back if it doesnt look right. Im rebuilding mine and measured it all before assembly.

This^^^

should really check your clearances.

First of all they machined your crank UNDERsize. They need too know how much to remove off each journal. Nissan used bearing "grades" to make up for any differences in crank journal sizes. The fact that you bought .25mm oversize bearings means that EACH journal on your crank will need to be machined undersize to a different spec, meaning you can't "machine them all to .25mm under"

To do it properly the machine shop needs your block and bearings and a quality dial bore gauge to calculate what each new journal size needs to be then from there machine each journal to have proper oil clearance when assembled.
