That's pretty bawler. Might pick up 2 of these when I get paid. Do they get in the way when your driving and they are in use?

that means no cans cause slamming the door would make shit splash.

take a side view of how much the cup holder pokes out when in use.

i can see the base that will fit the bottom of cups and bottles, but some cups have a wide top and skinny bottom, like cups from your local gas station. if it isn't out far enough, the door panel will push up against it..

if it will fit those, that would be cool.

jrivera
03-28-2012, 06:31 AM
Will it get in the way when driving? No. As far as the small bottoms large top drinks, my friend is going to take pics and video's of it installed on his car, with large drinks in it. I don't drink those fountain drinks much. When I get the pics, I will post them. He will be posting a review of the product as well.

Yeah, no slamming the door with open drinks. But usually, most people that drive around have their drinks in hand when they leave the car. A lot of cars have cup holders in their door as well. Same rule applies to them.

You can install the cup holders any where you would like. I put it on the door because it seemed to make the most sense.

Here's another place it can be installed (sorry for the dirty interior. it's a mock up car lol)

jrivera
03-28-2012, 12:47 PM
Just let me know whenever you're ready. I am keeping a supply of them on hand. If I run out, there will be a few days delay in getting them out.

Either way, once you let me know you are sending payment, I will advise you of the expected shipment date.

Thanks!

Ask and you shall receive. My buddy is taking pics of them on his car like I mentioned in an earlier post. But for those asking for bigger drinks, here is what I could find at 7-eleven.

Able to confirm?

Darn.. Looks like that location will get in the way with the manual windows knob

Able to confirm?

It really depends on where you mount it. The cup holder I mounted could be mounted another inch lower and there is movement to the left and right of it. Mounted as low as possible, clearance shouldn't be a problem (obviously with the drink removed).

Can someone turn the manual window knob so that it is pointed straight down. Then measure the distance between the knob and the bottom of the door panel? I believe it's around 5 inches. The cup holder is only 4 inches tall.

Thanks!

more suggestions-

have the cup holder be adjustable in height and circumference.

i might have a wide cup so i can widen up the circle, or i might have a long top heavy cup so i will be able to adjust the height and make it longer. i dont want to take a turn and my 52oz drink just topple over from the weight of the liquids.

Jamg,

I hear what you're saying. Problem is that it's not financially practical to even try and make something like that. It would end up costing a lot more.

These cup holders are basically equivalent to cup holders that come in a standard car. If the cup fits in those, it will fit in these just fine.

i was up at enjuku yesterday and saw this. Adam was trying to find a decent spot to mount it in his 14. seemed hard without it getting in the way. in a 13 though it fit great. cup holder also definitely looked very high quality. not something cheap and brittle. just a suggestion i thought would work... what if you made like an angled pad, to make it sit perfectly vertical on the passenger side of the dash on an s14.?

Just wanted to share some pics of the product and them installed.

Everything that you get: which includes the sellers own personal instructions (jrivera you sure know how to do business sir), the receipt, screws for mounting you probably wont use, the cupholders themselves, and the adhesive already mounted onto them.

For those of you with S14's, between lenox_240 and I, we will make a bracket that works. If you have already purchased a cup holder and have an S14, I will go ahead and send you the bracket once it's complete. This will be at no cost to you. Please notify me if you have already purchased one and have an S14.

For those of you in the future that are interested in cup holders for the S14, unfortunately the price will be a little higher due to the extra cost of the bracket(s). I will keep you posted.

Thanks,

Since I have received several PM's with this question, I'll go ahead and post it here. Anyone who orders the cup holder(s) will have their order shipped on Friday (assuming they are ordered by Thursday). If they are ordered on Friday, they won't go out until Saturday or Monday.

Yours will go out UPS since you have been so patient. But I won't make it to the UPS store tomorrow. Will be Saturday morning.

Just so everyone understands what is going on here. USPS has totally screwed up this shipment. He is the closest buyer to my location and USPS keeps sending the package to his area, then my area, and so forth. It has made 2 trips to him and 3 back to me.

I doubt your interior gets over 250 degrees, even in summer. It'll hold. That's why I'm only using the highest temp adhesive I could find.

What are they held a with? Double-sided tape?

They are held on with industrial adhesive. It's the cup holder, adhesive, insulation, and then the adhesive (which is industrial grade mounting tape) to attach it to the door.

For all you S14's, to show you some progress on the brackets. This is a mock up so please don't nitpick. Please ignore the raised insulation. It's my mock up cup holder. It is made from stainless steel. I have another design in mind as well. Either way, they will be tested prior to being sold.

IMA try to see how I can work it in maybe modify it on ash tray It's about the same size but slightly bigger or maybe on ARM rest

I think it's a matter of preference. I never liked having my drinks in the ash tray/arm rest spot because it was in the way of shifting.

how about just add one on top of the stereo?

Those are options other people on here can look into which have been out for a while. I am only offering them something different. Those who are interested or those who have purchased the cup holders are looking for something different.

I personally do not like the cup holders in the center console or blocking my stereo/AC controller and dripping moisture all over the place.

Keep in mind guys, this is a for sale thread. Thanks!

Alright everyone, slight delay.

With the cup holders with brackets, I ordered an even stronger adhesive. The current adhesive works great for the cup holders but isn't holding so well with the bracket.

I am not satisfied with it and thus ordered a much stronger adhesive. Unfortunately, that adhesive will not arrive until next week.

I apologize for the delay. I stand behind my work 100% and will not compromise strength and integrity. I will keep you updated.

So, the S13 cup holders are still for sale. The S14's are on hold.

Thanks again and I appreciate your patience!

So, good news. The adhesive will be here next week. It's even stronger than the current adhesive being used for the S13 (which is very strong and works well for the S13). The reason I needed a stronger adhesive is there is less area with the bracket that then cup holders that don't need it.

The adhesive that arrives next week is extremely strong. It holds 73 lbs per square inch. I almost fell out of my chair when they told me that. Guess how many square inches of adhesive will be on the S14 bracket? 3 inches squared. That's over 219 lbs of mounting strength. Insane!

Payment received. Apologies for my late reply. Was moving today and this was my first chance to look online.

I designed the bracket so that the cup holder could be mounted on the passenger side of the center console. However, you can mount them wherever you feel it bests suits your needs.

I have news for S14 members. After numerous attempts to make a bracket and whatnot, thanks to Edgar (lenox_240) for finding the perfect location for mounting the cup holder. The best location to mount it is on the passenger side of the center console. This location has been tested and works well. The other possible location is in the compartment in the center console. I will post pics of both locations. This means that the price will be the same for both S13 & S14 cup holders. Those who have paid the old price, I will refund you the difference. If you have ordered a set of 2 and only want 1, please let me know.

On with the pictures...

It has come to my attention that in very high heat, one of the adhesives slowly starts to peel off (the adhesive between the cup holder and insulation. This has happened to 2 members.

Since I stand behind my work and want to make sure every member is happy, this morning I mailed everyone who has purchased cup holders new insulation with new and higher temperature adhesives. Those who pre-ordered S14 cup holders will not be receiving them as I did not use that adhesive on it.

I also enclosed instructions. Apologies for any who experienced that issue.

And as always, thanks for all the support.
