Check the for sale threads...there are a couple in ga. There is an automatic r32 for 18k...thats the lowest you will find. Plus if your going to go through all the work you might as well go for awd gtr otherwise you might aswell have an s14. an s15 will be 10x harder to get than a gtr ;)

Is that how much people pay for them over there

over here R33 are the most common import, like 'my first import' or a car that people who arent really into cars will buy.
Can pick a R33 Gtst up for about 5k, GTR for less than 20. where as say a decent condition stock s14 kouki will be about 10k

cant belive people pay so much for a boat over there just because its a bit rare

A bit rare? Yeah, they aren't even legal anymore. I don't think they are worth the price tag either, but I guess people just really want a Skyline.

The kid posted this thread and then abandoned it. My money is on he wanted to look cool posting about how he's "really" getting a skyline! As far as the insurance, hahaha I doubt they'd even insure him. Jk they would but it'd be astronomical. I remember when I was 17-21 my insurance averaged around 3k a year and that's when I was driving a POS Honda and then my s13. Have fun in lala dreamland kid. And if you are serious just do what that one guy suggested with taking an s chassis and modifying it. You could get a 13 shell and do a r32 awd swap and have many more baller points.

its funny on forums like this when people in the US go crazy over skylines but us canadians know how overhyped they are because they are so common up here.

GTR's ARE as good as everyone thinks.. iv driven a 32 gtr and a 33 gtr and both of those cars have been absolutely insane.. i cant really talk on prices and what not up in canada or in the states, but in Australia, a stockish 32 gtr can be had for sub $15 g's, and a stockish 33 gtr can be had for sub $20g's.. evo's on the other hand, are usually around 25 if not much higher..

i personally would much rather grab a 32 gtr and pump 10 grand into it, as opposed to getting a stock evo.. but thats just me..

so yeah, i rate skylines pretty highly.. (as long as we're talking about gtr's, if we're talking about gts-t's, then yeah, just get a sil of some sort and whack a 25 in there..)

Two things skylines aren't illegal, they can be registered legally in some states if you follow the guidelines and do what they ask of you.

I wouldn't consider the EVO to be faster than a skyline. They are faster than the gt or gt-m models and depending on which ones ur specifically talking about maybe faster than a gts-t. But they're not faster than a GTR. Besides the gtst and GTR models are a platform to achieve more power they have the tried and true RB motor which has more potential than the 4g63 (6 cyllinder bigger displacement) not to mention its always been my opinion that fwd based awd is complete fail.

Also take in mind that some ppl prefer Nissan to dsm. Personally I have never been a fan of Mitsubishit or any of their variants with the exception of the EVO VIII MR. But even then I would most likely opt for an STI if I was going the 4dr awd route

Skylines are overpriced I'll give you that and if it were me I would dump the budget I would've spent on the skyline on an S13 and build it up to be something truly magnificent

Yes they are, FEDERAL law trumps state law. Only "legal" skyline I believe is the R33 GT-S because that is what MotoRex crash tested back in the day. So most all the MotoRex cars got grandfathered in, and R33 gt-s's are legal, but I doubt with all that has been going on lately that it would be easy to get a R33 imported these days.

Ok so then explain how people get them registered in states like Arizona, Montana, washington, etc. Yeah they are illegal as hell in some state namely California but still I see them driven on the street and know people that drive them and other JDM cars on the streets, hell even I've driven a Jdm mr2 turbo on the street and didn't get messed with because the person who's car it was went through a lot, and I mean a lot (years and years) of bullshit to get it legal in Cali. There are ways to do it legally and get em registered whether having a dealer license or registering it as a project car. Is it a pain in the ass, yes. Is it worth it, IMO no. Can it be done, yes.

Yea you can get them state registered sure, but the government can come take your car whenever they want if they feel like it. EPA and federal laws trump state laws. Cars that are already here but "JDM" ones are brought over are a bit easier to do.

either wait till the 25year limit for 89s or find a motorex car. buy a state-legal one if you like the risk

there is another way to make yours truly legal but it costs a lot of money, it involves bringing in two cars and giving one up for crash testing then using that data to bring the 2nd one up to spec.

^^^^ agreed... As far the whole federal law thing - would they really go through all that trouble? Secondly is there any kind of statute of limitations on these things like I know if you buy a 30 rnd clip in Cali and have it for over 2 years without getting caught then technically you can't be prosecuted for owning one cus the statute of limitations has passed. Is there an X amount of time before you can no longer get it seized?

All else aside I believe that the whole thing against skylines is utter bullshit like if you were to roll cage and build heavy duty chassis braces to further protect u from damage whos the government to say its not good enough, fucking bureaucrats. Not trying to spark a debate as this is not the right section just voicing my opinion

First off if you're going to use something as an example at least know what you're talking about, there is no I've had it for two years so it's mine rule in California. You would have to have owned the magazines before the ban came into effect, even then there are plenty of issues that can arise from their use if someone looked into it. Before you get yourself or anyone else in trouble look at calguns.net or California law. http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/index.php/Large-capacity_magazine_restrictions

As far as skylines go, I personally think its a waste of time/money just to be different, I know half of you want the feeling of being "jocked" but IMHO the whole idea of bringing a skyline into the states is a big hassle to say the least, look at people that have way more money then any of you or myself that are still losing their cars to the Feds.

Skyline schmyline. If it was an attainable car (i.e. go on zyline.net, find one for sale in TX with no rust and pay 35% more than what it's actually worth and get called cheap...just like on zilvia) then I could see the interest. But all of the skylinejdmtytey0fanboi foolishness is simply retarded. 90% of people I know that praise the Skyline are a) ONLY talking about the R34 b) young c)have never nor will ever drive any variation of Skyline sans a 350GT. I absolutely like the Skylines. I've driven a few and while the GT and GTS-T's weren't great, they were cool in their own right. But, all the BS to obtain one isn't in any way shape or form worth it to me. I'd much rather snag a 350GT, keep the Mt Fugi badging on it, toss some works under the arches, drop it on BCR's and ball so hard muthf#$%as wanna fine me. But first they'd have to find me. lol

Wow hey guy where do you think I got that information. I've been an active member on there for years and I'm not gonna go through the trouble of finding the info because I'm on my iPhone but just so YOU know there is a statute of limitations on 30rnd clips so long as you can prove that you have had them for the given period of time (now that I think about it it's longer than 2 years). That means that IF you've OWNED the clips for X years the government no longer has any right to seize ur clips or prosecute you for them (not that I've owned them so they are mine, but thanks for puttin words in my mouth). This is all besides the point as I was asking a simple question IS THERE A STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS ON SKYLINES. The answer is a simple yes or no guy. Not a you don't (but actually do) know what ur talking about with regards to firearms laws

I love living in Canada...Hell I seen a mint midnight purple GTR33 on my way to work this morning. The fact that we can import them legally after 15 years is a plus. Not to many hoops to jump through make it worth wild.

The prices are not a crazy as some would think, but I've seen some rather suspect 32's and 33's make it across the ocean. Great to mint R32's are $9-15K. R33's are $15-25K...

If I were American, I wouldn't think it would be worth the hassle unless I had deep pockets for that RHD Tax.

To answer your ''simple'' question, no. There is no statute of limitations. You either have one that was done the right way by motorex, or you have an illegal car. It is that simple, no ifs ands or buts about it.

To anyone who really wants one, call the dot/epa, get all the forms you need, and do it. Get in contact with an RI (Just use JK Tech, they're an RI and ICI) and make it happen. And yes, JK DOES still do the work, and YES they do the OBDII. If you think I'm bullshittin you, call them. If you have deep pockets, it's not hard. If you're a broke ass high school/college student, take some ambien, go back to sleep and keep dreaming- cause it won't happen.

maybe for r32's, plus there is even difference between models. thats why only GT-S's are legal to bring in and not GTR's even though they're both R33's.

wrong. GTR's are just as legal to come in.

You guys need to stop spreading around false info

Then why was there a whole big to do about motorex legalizing gtr's when they had only crash tested gt-s's and somehow convinced whoever was in charge that a GTR was the same, and they looked into and it wasnt?

Motorex got shut down because they were importing 34's without proper testing and telling the Feds that they were 32's and all legal, that glass was swapped ext. go read the 3 page article on them.

OMG SHUT THE FUCK UP!, if there was any easy way to get it we would be seeing there cars like we see civics, EVERYWHERE! to the folks in Florida, it doesn't count if you see the same skyline all the time, and to the fool who said he dro e a JDM, RHD, mr2 turbo, the name "mr2" was produced in the USA, if it has the same name by the same manufacturer it is a lot easier to import, why do you think hondas and acuras and and some toyotas import JDM VERSIONS? the name was produced in the USA,

Shut up, all this false hope and shit, and to the people saying "in some states it's legal to register" yeah but the Feds are cracking down and going through state registry and seeing who's got one, checking vins and seeing what year they were registered, what model, and seizing them, you can't get away from the Feds you morons.

It's not easy to do. You just have to have deep pockets, time, and patience. And typically those with deep pockets would rather spend their money, time, and patience on a NOT Skyline cuz they're typically adults. lol

You guys are really making yourselves look stupid.

1. Motorex being shut down had more to down with attempted kidnapping, theft and drug related issues more than lies and falsification to the EPA/DOT. Do some damn research. Also, swapping glass has nothing to do with compliance work. The glass is already DOT compliant. I mean really, you guys just sound retarded.

2. R33 GTR's and GTS' from '96-'98 are legal to import. 100% legal. JK Tech is the only one who can do the OBDII and compliance work for the EPA/DOT. They're the only ones to this day that will work on the Skyline. Even if you can afford the car, look to pay anywhere in the range of $30K + for compliance work. I was quoted $36K just for the compliance work alone, not including the cost to import, the car itself, taxes etc...

3. If you don't have deep pockets, keep dreaming. It's not going to happen unless you are in the GTR community with a lot of money, or know a lot of people.

4. I really feel bad for all you dreamers out there, but get over it. If you're the type of guy who has to save up for rims and exhaust, then a skyline isn't for you anyway.

I'm still not sure why this thread is not locked. Oh, and for silviaguy240, I'm not trying to be a dick but you really need to stop and do some research before you speak about what you think you know. My bond released R33 is a... GTR V Spec. key letters in that last sentence - 'G', 'T', and 'R'.

Thats cool, I was just going from what I remember reading a while back. And what I remembered there was the situation with R33's. I knew the GTR's that were brought in got grandfathered, but all I could remember was that the GT-S were definitely legal and the GTRs were a bit sketchy. And I know about the kidnapping. And Im pretty sure the government is just as interested in the cars as they were that, the kidnapping just brought it to their attention. I dont mind getting proved wrong.

You can find skylines at most Inifiniti dealerships. We call them G35 or G37's here.

Im sure it was already posted, but its not even worth having one anymore. If you want an R32 get an s13 coupe, if you want a R33 get an s14. If you're feeling super JDM you can even swap over to RHD and put an RB in it. The price you pay for one, you could have a real nice s-chassis. Just my 2 cents.

You're 17... I had a dream of getting a skyline when I was 17 too... keep dreaming kid.
you are a dream crusher hahah.

you can always sneak a r32 or r33 in U.S from canada and register it as a s13 or s14 but youre gonna be in a big risk losing both your money and the car if you get caught

r34 and s15 thats probably a never for you

Check the for sale threads...there are a couple in ga. There is an automatic r32 for 18k...thats the lowest you will find. Plus if your going to go through all the work you might as well go for awd gtr otherwise you might aswell have an s14. an s15 will be 10x harder to get than a gtr ;)

32 and 33 shells go cheap. Americas hat has a good bit of em hanging out.

If you want a complete skyline, that's a totally different story.

I found a roller for $2200 yesterday in the states. That's my plan after i screw my shit up enough making mistakes on the down lo dori......... It's hard not to like a 32.

I can't believe there isn't even a single shred of useful info in this forum.

To get a skyline that is both fed and state legal:

-Only gen you can get is R33 and has to be 96-98(unless pre ban)
-clear nhtsa through an RI with the exemption
-clear epa
-clear customs

Your gonna pay 6k+ for an R33 worth importing, 5-15k for an RI to handle your shit, several thousand more for duties and customs.

There now you have a 20k mid nineties japanese sportscar.

Thats is it. Either that or fuck with some shady ass bullshit that is going to get snatched when a jealous little nark snitches you out to the fed. Or you have one of the 2 motorex skylines that are legit.
