well, on the homepage of the zilvia.net it says "Nissan 240SX & 300ZX Reference Site." but there's practically nothing for the 300zx's, even the forums says "240sx forums" and there's nothing about the 300zx. i say, let's just make it a 240 site!!!

i've noticed that 2. i actually don't mind 300zx's or skylines or sentras or whatever other nissans that appear on these forums n stuff though. it all still mainly revolves around 240's neway.

I guess they knew that not many people have 300zs so all they did was the main page has info about both but whne u click on forums and u look on the top of ur screen right now ull see "Zilia.net forums" then right underneath it ull see nissan 240sx related forums. So the forums are only for us, how sweet.

Everybody with a 300ZX go's to www.twinturbo.net West drives a 240 now so why bother competing when TT.net is the best forum out there. There's a few people on here though, 3 that come to mind Since my cars broke and i'm selling it after it's fixed i might have to change my name to vg30guy

I would say yes there alittle cheaper. The good part is I can get like a 99' 300ZX but thats not happening. I'm buying a clunker til I move home in a year and a half and buy my 300ZX (more time to save for mods)

yeah, i would just get a car to keep me occupied 2 if i was comin' back to the states in a year, unless u had the mad money to import it n take it along w/ u. if i had to get a beater car, i'd probably wanna take it off road or not have to worry 'bout it when i drive it. that's the only thing i don't like 'bout my car right now cuz i baby it 2 much.

I'm here often. just don't post that much. I'm still in the learning stages about the 240sx's. Might have to get one and build a drift machine to go along side my ZTT.

I am probably gonna get deleted again but here we go. I would not buy a 300zx. They are too heavy and stock the 1/4 mile is high 15's! That is shocking for a 3L tt dont u think?!?!
The toyota soarer which i think is a LExus SC400 with the 2.5L tt has more power than the VG30DETT!
So most ppl concerned about speed et a soarer, while pimp daddy's who want the chicks get a 300zx.
I built the site for Z's and 240SX's but I mainly dont have alot of 300ZX info because I had to sell mine. I wont bother with a forum for Z owners because twinturbo.net is the best forum on the inet. I will build the site more someday with more info for Zs and 240SXs but I dont have time for it. Im still working on upgrading the forum software too.

where did you get this information. a Stock ZTT is capable of high 13's. The NA's will run low 15's. Get your information straight before you post it.

TTZ's dont run 15 1/4 miles, maybe if you were driving it would though. You need to learn your cars. Soarers are in Japan, and they are Inline 6's like the supra engine, not a V6. So no need to compare them. If you have ever driven a Z then you wouldnt bad mouth the car, they are heavy, yes, but its a Grant Touring car, not a sports car. And for what it is it handles like a dream and can kick tons of ass in any type of racing. Not to mention there is an amazing amount of aftermarket parts for the Z. Go drive one and then maybe I will understand your opinion.

i'd hafta agree with phatdex... the 300zx never got the engine it deserved.. or the weight reduction needed to make it a true sports car.. nissan was too busy developing the skyline in to the awesomeness that it is today to worry about the grossly overweight 300zx, especially with toyota having the supra and mitsubishi having the gto that were well ahead of the 300zx. So next time you are driving your 300zx and a R33/R34 skyline goes flying by, be proud cuz thats where your money went.

Im afriad you dont know what your talking about either. The Z came beofe the GTO and the Supra. And YEARS were spend on its developement, and it all started back in the 70's with the first 240Z was introduced. It then evolved from there.
And Ill make sure the next time a Skyline passes me in the US to remember thats where my money went.
Right....

also think about that the Z32 came out in 1990. The MKIV supra didn't come out till 1993.5. Three years of extra development can do a lot. And the 300zx is a GT car where as the supra is a Sports car.

Maybe I'm missing something but why would anyone want to down another car just because it's different? Especially a car that is still a nissan. I can see downing a front wheel drive underpowered beater for the abomination it is but honestly I look forward to putting some Z parts such as brakes on my 240 and am sure lots of Z owners have lots of helpfull info for those of us with 240's.

if anyone thinks the Z is overweight, i wonder what they think about that porker of a car known as the skyline, am i wrong or does the skyline have about 1000lbs on the Z? whereas the Z only has about 500lbs on the 240? a lot of which comes from the larger engine i would expect, anyway, I used to own a NAZ32 and i miss it, it was a great car, they really grow on you

Skyline (depending on which year) is around the same wieght or alittle more as the Z. The Skylines wieght comes from the AWD.

the weight specs of the R34 skylines i've seen were about 3650-3750. to me that's too heavy. i think the Z's are somewhat heavy, but shit, that's not stopping my friend's Z from killing camaro SS's, and destryong mustang cobras in the twistie turns. anyways phatdex you stick with your mirage power house and keep knocking nissans, while people continue to better themselves and their cars with real, positive knowledge.
i'd buy a Z06 Corvette before a skyline if possible, and i'd take a Z over a vette.

I have a question.
I've been told that the Z's stock handling capabilities aren't all that great... is this true?
As for it's weight.. has anyone ever AutoX'ed w/ the Z32 b4? or is the weight a handicap for it in events like that?
whateverjames
01-01-2002, 05:58 PM
no! it is not true! the Z handles great. out handled the corvette of the same year. and that's with t-tops.
from what i've seen the 383hp Z at the autocross did only average. but of course it's not made for tight turns. i wouldn't say it's the most agile, tossable car in stock form at least, but it grips like ####. j300z28 or west, how would you rate the handling of your Z's?

I autoX my ZTT, the weight really isn't an issue. I finished just outside of a top 5 time at my first autoX event with my current Z and only improved from there. The Hicas system(4ws) on the TT's takes some getting used to but other than that the car is a dream and that was on stock suspension. I can't wait for this coming season since I have upgraded most of my suspension components and added stage III+ power to my car.
Z Handles like its on rails, when stock. I wish I could have moded the suspension of my Z before I had to sell it. I cant imagine what it would do with a nice set of coilovers and sway bars.

Yes the GTS-4 is All wheel Drive and comes with the RB20DET does not come in N/A form. The GTS-T weighs just a little more than a Silvia. I owned one when I lived in Japan! They are bigger than a Silvia and dont quite have the weight distribution of the Silvia chassis but still handles awsome. As for the whole Z32 debate I personnally would not buy one but they are good cars and can be easily taken into the 350-400 hp range. Cant complain about that!!! LOL I dont like how they handle at all, at least stock, but I have not driven that many and only in Japan never driven a stateside Z.

I have a '91 300ZX 2+2 NA but just bought an '89 240SX coupe because the Z is so expensive to maintain and repair. Z's are definetly monsters when it comes to power, even the NA and handeling is near perfect for my taste too but, something has been drawing me towards the Silvia for a couple years so I'm getting as close as I can to one with my '89 240sx. It's still not a Silvia but on the other hand you can't even find 240's in the Denver area.
Thats for sure, there are no 240SX's in denver. That why my crazy ass just got back from NJ with my 89 black coupe for a project car Bought it for $1200 then drove it to Denver.

I would have to say the Z is better then a 3000 gt and do not forget that the supra and 3000 gt are also about the same weight as the Z all three are above 3000 lbs in weight. Plus the Z is one of the coolest looking designs,
