The I regret selling my s15, RB26 s13 build thread

Well after constantly regretting selling my s15, ive decided to build another s13 this time. I got the shell from my best friend while he was on deployment.

Shawn and Brian @ RameyBuilt in Virginia Beach will be doing all the work as i am stationed @ Fort Campbell, KY.

ps.... you might wanna consider a different pump.... the n1 pumps are notorious for issues (as are the stock pumps) I would recommend a Tomei pump. they are by far the best pump out there. If you are dead set of the N1 pump at least get the reimax gear set for it. pretty solid from what ive heard/read.

^^ Agreed. That or a JUN oil pump if you can swing it. Both are recommended. A lot of my GTR friends have used Tomei or JUN models. I personally have never seen a N1 fail but the ones that I have heard about people using have been modified.

The rumors that you heard about the few issues the rb26 had are true, but it took full race 700-800 hp skylines in Japans doing race after race to figure out the weaknesses. Weaknesses you will never see because your not even gonna come close to testing the limits by doing pulls around town.

You haven't had any issue because you're under 500hp. He wants 700 if you read his posts. Therefore the stock pump does not work just fine. Put the collar on and upgrade the pump. You're in there why be a cheapass? It's just going to come back and bite you in the ass.

Money well spent is in a simple reliable build that does everything you want it to. I've seen many 400whp Rb26 swaps leave a local shop here and they never come back tell its time for an oil change. Stock 26, R34 turbos, and good software like a ViPec will produce a reliable 400whp, which is more then anyone ever needs in an S13. I've watch that set up leave the shop so many times, get drifted on the weekends, daily'd during the week, and never come back for anything but fluid changes. your argument is still irrelevant. you keep spouting off 400hp.... this guy is shooting for 700hp so all your comments are null. Ive been wrenching on cars since you were in elementary school. Its ok to be a typical cheap s13 owner, there are droves of ratted out tossed together cars out there. You cant call spending money a waste when its not yours being spent. Sure i spent alot on parts but i didnt get extravagant to the point where it was overkill.
I just wrapped up my bosses RB setup. $30k tomei genesis RB28 with a full Ti amuse exhaust ($8k) tomei turbos and everything else you could possibly think of. prolly $100k plus the car. Its his money and its what HE wanted. Even i find this to be excessive spending but Its not my place to tell him how to spend his money..... saying that, if he had a setup like this and was gonna run a stock oil pump.... you think i would let him? hell no. Its a COMMON problem period.
But honestly you haven't brought in any facts relative to the conversation yet. I have seen these failures with my own two eyes even at measly HP numbers. your a funny guy.... you dont even know me....... i work on track cars and street cars alike. our shop is campaigning a time attack evo X in real time attack this year and we have SEVERAL customers with track cars that i work on. from Lotus cup cars, porsche cup cars, r35 GTR's, EVO X, ferrari's and lambos alike.... we work on a wide array of things but our specialty is R35 GTR...... keep thinking you know everything. My current s13 only has 300hp/336tq (stock turbo s14 sr20). so i dunno where your getting 700hp s13 from.... if you think he put 100k into an s13 your really not the brightest bulb on the tree. Some people are so far behind in the race they actually think they are winning.

Engine build isnt coming along as fast as i would have liked but everything will be done right. Still getting together what color scheme im going to utilize as well as what im going to do interior wise.

block is back from the machine and head is being cleared for the cams but they're trying to get 2 cars done for the upcoming Honda Tech meet or something so that has priority at the moment. If by any chance you'll be back in March 2013, you should put her on a trailer and bring her down to Houston for TX2K13. A handful of friends and I will be bringing our 240's to attempt and hold it down at a Supra event.

I'm running a 7175 as of now, and I hope you enjoy that 6766! I ran a 6765 and it pulled nicely on a stockish motor/15.8lbs. Good luck to the build, and before it's too late, get a Tomei pump to sleep easy at night!

so heres the next dilemma, a local shop has a RHD s13 clip available. My last 2 cars were RHD thing and its more of a preference to myself and would allow more room on the turbo side for the downpipe/dump tubes as well. so we shall see.

LP2 is tried and true. You really can't go wrong with it. However, this build has an over the top, all out feel to it. The color needs to reflect that.

WV2 or TV3. I'm leaning more towards TV3 now (and I hate the color blue) just because I bet there is only a handful of people who have ever painted their S13 that color, if any.

so i was taking with 95KA-Turbo(knoop) lastnight about the ideas for the engine bay. Still undecided on whether or not to run the greddy clear front cover or not yet but the cam covers and stuff will be getting done white. I know i have Tomei cam gears but im debating selling them if i do run the clear cover and getting HKS purple ones just to go with the midnight purple engine bay. Other than that everything else will be polished/black/white/purple. All lines and AN fittings will be in black, polished intake manifold with black runners and flange, and purple wiggins clamps for the piping.

This will be my last week here at fort campbell before deploying, so i will be keeping this thread updated when i can.

haha yeah only if i get what i want for them, other wise not selling them. Im here for another 8-9 months or so. just have to wait and see. I didnt really want to sell the OEM aero but its just so common now a days and knoop had to mention GT-1 so that lightbulb went on. So all in all once everything is together its going to be pretty retarded haha, i cant wait.
