So i pulled the trans out this weekend because of the horendous amount of "throw out bearing noise" and found that the clutch fork wasn't returning all the way to its released possition. The pedal will not return once its pushed in as well. The system is completely bled so im guesing since the fork has no "spring back/return" , this is why my pedal wont return? I guess im asking what i need to fix? the pivot seems to look fine to me but the spring that holds the clutch fork on looks stretched and bent a bit.
edit: ps this is a kade in a 92 s13 thx

so what was causing the horrendous throw out bearing noise?

The fork wasnt pulling the bearing completely away from the clutch fingers is my best guess, the fingers had alot of wear on them for a clutch that looks like it has maybe 1500 miles on it....im picking up a used trans this week so im hoping this fixes the problem. i guess i just wanted some insight from you guys to see if you think this is my problem?

did the clutch pedal have enough free play. it seems that the throw out bearing was constantly pushing on the pressure plate. did you mess with the clutch pedal push rod?

Basically the slave was getting full motion, it would move all the way out but the clutch fork would stay depressed. no pressure back on the slave to return it is what im thinking?!?

from my inspection (still learning) the retaining spring on the back of the fork is kind of jacked up and sits loose on the pivot...isnt that metal clip/spring what pulls that fork back when you let off the clutch? i mean there should be some sort of resistance right?

Check the pivot ball. They tend to snap.

In order to fix the clutch fork would you have to remove the tranny or is ther a way to fix it without removing the tranny?? Im having the exact same problem right now.

are you very sure its not the clutch master??? slave/slush box??? or bubble in/on the clutch line... double check everything else so that you dont condemn a good part...
also it could be possible the the clutch assembly could have been not so properly installed causing the noises being herd... also when ordering the clutch fork pivot hold down spring they only come in a pack of ten and not sold in singles

The bearing rides on the pressure plate always! The retaining clip for the clutch fork only holds it on the pivot ball.(you can bend and manipulate this if you like but it's not necessary. The throw out bearing retaining clip, is only there to hold the bearing sleeve, and is designed to have a fulcrum type of movement for the throwout bearing. The only springs that pushes on the throwout bearing/fork are the pressure plate fingers!
The rest of the clutch system is hydraulic, minus the pedal!
This has be a Zilvia.net PSA!
