Received my front clip today:
-S13 Redtop
-54,728km or 34,006 miles
-Good: Apexi filter, Greddy BC, TEIN camber plates, coilovers, floor mats, digital climate control (works).
-Weird: Ident. Plate reads ca18de... owner must have decided he wanted more power and swapped in a sr20det.

Going to start taking stuff apart and all tomorrow. I'm eager to unbolt the transmission and see what's in there clutch wise. I'll post as I go long. If anyone has any suggestions, shoot.
Oh yeah, Here's the car it's going into...

I bought the clip from Usedengine.com They're located in North Carolina and already had the clip in stock. I paid a little over 3k. I highly recommend them, there isn't much information on their site but if you call they're good people.
Nice....good luck with the swap
man thats nasty interior for the s13. you looking to get rid of the front suspension since it doesnt fit your s14? ;)

interesting about the motor...hmmmm. I will talk to the buyers and have them make sure that they look at the vin plate before purchasing a car like that again. That would explain why there is a non-turbo bumper on there. anyways, if you have any problems CALL THEM! they will make it better.
did it come with a DP? hows the clutch? turboshaft play?
keep us informed!

wtf are q's headlights? dual projectors were optional on ALL CA18 silvias.

nice come up. You at least got everything that the clip had. Camber plates, boost controller, a headlight. Unlike Venus. You don't get shat!

where would be the best place to obtain a motor without worrying about major parts missing? then i worry about how i'm supposed to get it from whereever its dropped off to my dad's garage (he doesn't have a forklift). i've found a few places but they all say not to trust anyone else.
i'm so confused :bash:

venus gives you all the needed parts for the swap, just not body panels and some interior..

they'll be up for sale soon. only cracks are on one bracket, but it's not cracked all the way so its repairible. the housing themselves is fine. plus they have PIAA and Raybrig bulbs. When we first got the clip we hooked up a battery charger and the lights worked, really bright with a yellow tint.
But anyway, most of the parts the parts i cant use will be up for sale soon enough. I know the body panels are really beat up and the headlights arent the best, so i'll be letting it go for cheap.

Ive been reading and it looks like the Tein Upper pillowball mounts are the same part number for s13 and s14 in some cases, If this is so then i'll definately be using those.

here are the coilovers

By the looks of some of the bolts they must not be very old.
Also, turns out all the bypass valve assembly has been taken off and capped off. And the pipe that should have a BOV just has a HKS block off plate. I also forgot to mention it has the HUD. Anyway, tomorrow I should get more done, today i got all the intake piping off and took the radiator and shroud out but then had to goto work. I'll post pictures again when it's worth it, hopefully I can get the harness out tomorrow to start on that, as well as check the turbo for any shaft play.

Just browse around, send some emails, and make phone calls. Talk to people who sell the clips and just use your best judgement. Use the search on every 240 board you can kind and just research research research.
As for the shipping. I was in the same boat. I had it shipped to my dad's shop where I'm doing the swap and he doesnt have a forklift either, but it came on a cart with wheels, I'm assuming this was the shipping companies doing. I used ABF Freight to ship it from NC to IL just to their local Terminal. Then we used a local towing company to flatbed it to the shop and slide it off into the shop.

i figured that was the story. i put an email into www.lightspeedperformance.cc (they're local) hopefully i can just go there and pick up a motor (instead of me droppin 1500 on an install). it's been a long time comin... i'm finally gonna get my 240 (:

???? Q's headlights???
Gee I though they was J's headlights.
There is no difference in the headlights on J's, Q's, OR K's.
You were fortunate to get one so complete and with all the extra stuff. I think most people parting out a Silvia would have ebayed out the suspension and other extras before selling the clip. Here's hoping that since it IS a swapped engine that it hasn't been beat to shiite before it was clipped out.

as for the suspension...they sold the set that came with the clip and prolly put another set (ie. Teins) in there for ya. The other set had factory springs w/ some japanese brand adjustable struts.
anyways, just to let everyone else know..there is another clip there that has super straight body panels on it with the Aero bumper still there. i shoulda bought that one while i had the money..oh well.
keep us updated! :squintd:

sorry to bust the bubble but the q's had the projectors, k's were square. most people don't know but now do.
worked with a lot of these when i was in japan. i never noticed until it was explained to me by a fellow nissan tech at the shop. really helps when you are out racing at night and someone is in the mirror to be able to gauge what engine you have up against you...at least if they haven't done an engine swap as above.
problem is it's hard to get away with these things in japan. for inspection, most inspectors know the in's and out's of the car and what they come with. the first think they check is the vin plate to cross the vins and check for illegal engine mods.
for americans it's a lot easier to get away with but to do something like that for japanese they ussually have to be "race only" cars to get past inspection. it's every two years now so a lot more stuff is happening to cars, more time to put it back to stock before inspection time.
anyways, keep us updated on the car. looking forward to it.

Sorry to burst YOUR bubble but YOU are wrong. The two tone Silvias came with nonprojectors. They were Q's. Also I believe the convertables were non-projectors as well. At anyrate...you CAN'T tell if it is turbo or non turbo by the head lights.

for the LAST time.
ALL S13 HAD NON PROJECTORS STANDARD.
CA18 CARS HAD DUAL PROJ. OPTIONAL.
SR20 CARS HAD TRI. PROJ. OPTIONAL.
dont believe me? heres a NISSAN CATALOG with a Q's with non projectors, and a K's with tripple projectors (maybe duals, hard to tell with the lights on).

looks like there was a aftermarket downpipe but it was just cut about 4 inches down.

anyone have detailed pictures with an explanation of how they took off the AIV stuff? I've been looking around as much as i can and haven't found any good information other then to take of the house that goes to the dump pipe and plug it. So if any of you could help me out i'd appreciate it.

there are also two additional rubber lines that go to the intake after the MAF and before the turbo. Pull those and pulg em. The smaller one you can go to the autoparts store and find a "vaccum" endcap. The larger one you can use a rubber expandable freeze plug. Take the intake pipe in with you so you get the right size. Also, on your USofA 240 there is hard steel line (looks kinda like a brake line) that runs from the AIV-along the frame rail to the firewall-then up and across the firewall parallel to the brake lines-and down the firewall on the pass. side. Pull that hardline as you will have no use for it anymore.
The plug for the turbo elbow(what i did)...cut the hard line and seperate the threaded part by pulling the cut pipe through. (after its off the elbow of course). Then weld a nickel to the inside of the thing and you have a homemade bung.

I'll keep that suff in mind, I figured out what all i needed to disconnect and disregard. I just need to plug the hardline going to the turbo elbow. Anyway, got a lot done today, everything is disconnect including the nuts from the motor mounts so it's ready to be pulled from the clip. We did a leak down test and it scored 2% in all cylinders which is amazing. A few other notes: There were HKS platinum spark plugs in the motor. When looking down the plug holes we could read some numbers stamped on the cylinder? did Nissan stamp the stock cylinders? I need to search around a little and see if i find anything, but if anyone knows about this give a shout. The stamp read 79E 2N6. Checked the turbo, spins freely, no shaft play.
Too bad the weather currently sucks here with snow and all. Oh well, it's probaly a good thing. I'll definately be taking the time to make everything perfect as driving conditions aren't that desirable.
