I have a s13 with a rb20 swap. I'm thinking about buying the Chasebays power steering kit but it says for non HICAS pumps. My question is if I remove the HICAS from the rb20 pump and plug the hole can I use this kit? Or do I need to get a rb25 pump? Thanks.

Look I searched for the answer and no thread had it. It was a simple question that maybe one of you guys may have had experiance with. I just happen to not be running this tug boat today and thats why I had time to ask.

Never said I didn't know. Did I? Responses like yours irritate me.

I'm sorry I should've stated my intentions from the start.

Obviously he's new to this. I want to help you help yourself.

I won't nor will 90% of this forum spoonfeed you answers with the creation of a thread.

K0013: Did you answer his question? Do you know the answer? According to yourself, your own post is irrational and you should stay out of the thread.

don't do it... i bought two of them about a year ago and BOTH of my cars have been leaking no matter what... they leak they never fit correctly for some reason... the pump has been making noise in both cars after installing AND even one of them broke... the other one is on it's way out its been making horrible sound from the rack also...

not buying from chase ever again... sorry chase...

dont tell me that shit. i havent run fluid through mine yet. i did notice that the line are kind of an awkward length. almost like they are just long enough they have to go one way. with the 90* fittings at the rack it makes it fit weird almost hitting my tubular manifold. had to heat wrap everything.

So with my stock manifold it should clear without a problem. Now should I get the rb25 pump or will the rb20 pump with HICAS delete work fine?

Mine fit great... I bought one different an fitting to go to the rack just because I am picky, instead of a 90 i used a 45. I have had no problems at all.

Figured since this wasnt that old it would be the best place to post this.

Anyone with this kit figured out why the fitting on the rack leaks? I've take it out at least 3 times O ring is still intact, and reinstalled and still leaking. Im at the point to where im going to cover the damn thing in RTV in hopes to get it to seal but thats not why i bought this line.

everyones leaks. its shitty design i guess.

also the piece of shit resevior leaks to. my cap is as tight as could be WITH the rubber gasket and it still sloshes power steering fluid all over my belts and my exhaust manifold.

im waiting for my engine to catch on fire. i will go God Bless America on everyone.

copper washer is a great idea. but it didnt come with it like it should have and i dont feel like going on a scavenger hunt to find one. good idea though. if i stumble upon a washer that big ill try it out. i thought about just making my own res. CB made it sound like it was some special design when its really not. theres no baffling or anything. its as simple as simple could be yet they charge astronomically for it.. trying to get the CB name off my car.

Thanks Krappy. I was thinking that this morning before I read through Chase's post about removing it b/c it was causing the O-Ring not to seal. Guess I'll hit up Autozone on the way home and get a copper washer and a new O-ring and see if that helps. Im beyond tried of cleaning ATF off my drive way.

Ya found a post with the same res for 30 bucks shipped from summit.

Hasn't the reservoir gone through a couple iterations also?
Doesn't the website specifically state the it is baffled and has a vented cap like OEM?

Can you guys post pics of what res you got with your kits? Maybe someone from Chase Bays will stop in here and clarify things. Like with a timeline of what changes have been made and when? I was going to buy their res because i thought it was specifically designed for our systems, and not just a generic piece like the coolant overflow.

1. take apart HICAS pump and remove metal pump vanes in the rear pump.

2. plug hole. now you have a non-HICAS power steering pump.

3. use chase bays power steering kit for non-HICAS pump.

specifically for our systems? no its as good as generic. its simply and aluminum tube with end caps and some fittings. there is nothing internal whatsoever . you better off going with factory because you will have just as many leaks with chasebays . they may chime in but I've called them multiple times. their customer service blows and they aren't willing to help you. all they see is the money. i may be harsh but I've spent so much money on their products and I've regret every purchase from them except their clutch line

Finally got mine to stop leaking so i thought i would share. I tried using a copper washer and it leaked even worse, so I ordered another Power Steering fitting ( Earl's # 991954), and teflon taped the side that screws into the rack and its been holding fine with no leaks for the past 4 days.

Hope this helps someone else.
