Hi Everyone,

I'm pretty new to this board, basically i got my S13 running not too long ago, finally got around to get it painted to make it look somewhat decent. Its an '89 Coupe w/original paint that is all faded and since the car is stripped to the bare bone i want to repaint inside so it looks at least presentable.

My debate is if i should put the black striped that run along side of the car back on after it is painted. Honestly i really like how they look, but i'm always welcome other opinions too.. from what i have mainly seen on repainted S13 is that people do not put them back on.

The color is going to be "Imola Red" from '01-'04 E46, and the wheels i have right now are some 15" meshies w/decent lip and black mesh inside. I intend to keep these and once $$ allows it i will get some 16" SSR meshies in bronze, both set of wheels should go well with the cars color.

The mirrors will also not be repainted, or the GTR Style grille in the front, and once its all done if can find a clean 89-90 Zenki Lip also in OEM black color.

What you guys think?? I'll post some pics of what it looks now.. and hopefully later when its done :-)

thanks for the advice, btw this is my 3rd RWD car, and owned a hybrid honda while you were probably still in pampers, but nonetheless your opinion does count.

Keep them if you can figure out a way to do it cheaper than buying new strips from the dealer. (autozone stuff??) IIRC they're really really expensive from the dealer. I talked to another member and he said he bought about 50 dollars worth of the stuff and when he got home he realized that what he got only covered less than half on one side of the car!

If you're going towards a stock look...keep em. I never noticed my car had stripes down the side until someone pointed them out to me. =P

Don't feel the need to justify or defend yourself to anyone. You prolly never do any ricer things like cut your springs or anything.

imola red with a black pin stripe will look pretty hot, give it some contrast with the rims.

i was thinking of painting my s13 laguna seca blue, that way i'll have a LSB M3 and S13.

yep i'm going for that stock look, i really do not want anything too fancy.. btw i found that 3M makes those stripes as well.. they are not pre-cut like the ones that Nissan sells but they are the same size and cost about $80 for the whole car, versus dealership about $300 from courtesy nissan that is almost by far chepaest prices. And yeah i agree some people need to keep their lame comments to themselves if they have nothing better to say and stop waisting this boards bandwidth. Also yeah most cars i have owned in the past i could say were pretty darn decent i wish i still had my S14 but bad sadly its problably scrap metals at some junkyard by now. :-(

Badmojo-- LOL!!! good one... hahahahahaha

Well the good thing is the car is going the be painted with stripes off the car of course.. so i guess i'm going to see how it comes out first then if i decide to put them on that will not be a problem later. Paint mirrors still unsure.. and GTR Grill definitely staying black..

Hey Noah, wassup.. keep me posted on that fuse box cover and some of that other stuf if possible, do you have a digi by any chance?

Tks for all the replies everyone!

Sup Noah, fusebox cover fo SHO! I'll think of more parts over this wekeend, now the car is fully stripped inside and i'm gonna finish up taking whatever is left over and hopefully make it down to the body shop by 4pm to drop off the car.. i was able to get to dyno today and i think numbers are decent.. bone stock motor with stock boost made 191whp and at 11psi made 215whp.. i'm pretty happy with results.. A/F mixture was absolutely great, graph was smooth i cant be happier.. motor seams very very strong most importantly.. cant wait to get her back and have my friend fab me a kit.. 300's here i come :-) i know it will be way too much power that its really needed on a light car but aching for some better top end.
