for some reason one day after a WOT run my original SSQV BOV v2 stopped opening, opened it up checked it everything seemed fine but no matter what it won't vent.

can't find any vacuum leaks, i changed ALL vacuum lines and tested for leaks, the lines are routed as per ive always had them small nipple for FRP/Boost gauge and Big nipple direct to BOV. I even bough a knockoff SSQV to check in case it was the BOV, installed it today and it still won't vent..

engine specs:
SR20det
FMIC
Greddy Intake Manifold

I've searched around on google and zilvia.. and tried almost everything i've thought and found online... what else could you guys recommend i check?

already cleaned the original hks really good inside, nothing broken that i could see or find as i checked it all over... and as i said... i changed it with another SSQV and still same problem...

the adj screw on the back to change the psi it opens at, has that moved at all/missing?

i forgot to say the idle is perfect and can't find any leaks from intercooler pipes or anything, boosting 10psi while driving with no problems and 8psi in neutral.

The original HKS is adjustable i opened the screw all the way and played with it even to be sure and nothing... even removed it just for the hell and it didn't open...
the knockoff i bought to check if it was the old BOV is the non adjustable version..

so i triple checked (even if it's like the 20th time i check) everything again today, couldn't find any vacuum leak and no leak i could find in the intercooler either, still won't open and boosting 10psi...

i was thinking if it WAS a leak and NOT the bov, wouldnt my adjustable hks at lowest setting open at least sometimes cause i've had leaks in the past and the BOV still opened... im going to try and find a friends car with ssqv flange and try both my BOV on other car to check...

Do you have the nipple hooked to vacuum? Has to be after the throttle plate otherwise the SSQV won't function properly...

yeah it's hooked up to vacuum and after the thrttle... same place it's been working on for like 6 years... this has got me so confused...

anybody know how i can check if the blowoff valves are good or not? besides trying it on another car?

nope............

Chuck testa!!

But in all seriousness the problem here is that you are not getting vacuum to the blow of valve. How a bov works is that once therer is vacuum sensed in your intake plenum (as normally happens when you let off the throttle) the vacuum causes the bov to open releasing extra pressure in the system. With that being said you should prob check to see if u got vacuum in the line going to the bov. Do this by removing the line when the engine is running put ur finger over the hole if you feel sucking you have vacuum. I would be willing to bet you won't have vacuum this being said you should try using a different line and as someone said check to see that it is hooked up AFTER the throttle body to a nipple that has vaccuum. You may have to splice into a preexisting vacuum line.

I know you said it is has vacuum but if that was the case then the other bov you got would have worked maybe your lines got crossed these types of things happen man just test to see if you have vaccuum again and if you do then I dunno what to tell you. You have a mystery car that doesnt function properly

as i stated earlier yes the vacuum source im using is AFTER the throttle body, i changed ALL the lines just in case and even put it on a directly to both nipples on the intake manifold both didn't open (and i mean as in both BOVs). i also did what i said about checking the line for vacuum and yes it does have vacuum boost controller is reading vacuum and so is the FRP... im gonna try them on another car this weekend to check them... ill update on the progress...

thanks...

Ok so are you saying that it's hooked into the line to your boost controller? Also how's ur idle?

I dunno man like really it's too bizarre that two blowoff valves wouldnt be working.

cars idling fine, no stumbles or anything... boosting fine also... and no it's only a separate line no T or anything in the middle... the wastegate is on a seperate line.. and the other line is T between the FPR and boostcontroller... i played around with them just in case i switched them around changed all hoses and tried different configurations just for the hell of it... still nothing...

i find that weird also! that's why im gonna try them on another car to be 100% sure it's my car even if i can't find what wrong yet... and testing another bov also on my car...

check the throttle body itself, there are small holes on the inside that lead to the vacuums, the only thing i could think of is that those could have gotten clogged with some sort of debree, hows your turbo? once they start going out, they tend to spit oil into the intercooler, could be that some of this oil got caked up in the vacuum holes/lines if its not that, idk what it is haha

is your bov on the hot pipe side? or the cold pipe side? check both pipes just to make sure there is nothing obstructing airflow

Is it a real SSQV?

How are you building boost in neutral? Launch control? If you build boost in neutral your timing is f'd up! (depends) Fix that and get your vacuum back!

Yeah that's what I was thinkin as well but he said that he's getting vacuum to the line, he tested it and it's getting vacuum... You know it couldn't hurt to take the tb out and give it a thorough cleaning and you never know it might be a clog so this would fix it

if a known good BOV is not working as well, it's not the BOV. Gotta be something else....
