So this has been driving me crazy... My 97 S14 Auto, steering wheel has this intense vibration at idle and even more as I increase in speed. I feel it especially after 50 mph and up. I have replaced tires, balanced, and rebalance, aligned, and realigned, Installed new tension rods. I just did purchase steering rack bushings (not installed) My shocks are original, coil-overs soon... I also feel wheel hop when braking at slow speeds when hitting small bumps. Has anybody had this problem? What do you fellow Zilvian's think this could be?

Bad struts

Thanks (Future) for the reply... The struts are going!!!! I sell cars and on occasion I take in trades with bad struts, but I don't feel this kinda vibration! I don't remember this vibration on my old S13 Vert before I replaced the struts. Could it be anything else? I'm hoping that's it!

could be a loose front crossmember. the rack and pinion is bolted to it, so as the front lower control arms.

I will look in to that, I was kinda looking at that ( the cross member ) in pics when I was purchasing the steering rack bushings but I have never heard anything on that. I will be so stoked if that's it. Thanks rcdad123... I used to live in Point Loma by the way. Wish I still did, but then again somebody did try to steal my Vert there... lol

Intense vibration at idle leads me to believe one or more of the cylinders aren't firing correctly. Pull the spark plugs and check for any abnormalities.

Just did replace all the plugs yesterday, and the plugs removed were in good shape... When I mean intense vibration it's on the level of your cell phone vibrating, at idle but it's your steering wheel...
As I increase in speed that vibration just get's stronger where you feel the whole damn front end vibrating like a cell phone.
And as I drive I say, damn that can't be good on my new tires. I'm putting her up on stands tomorrow and taking a closer look.

So I installed a cold air intake and put her up on stands... I have play and a knocking noise either from the drivers side tie rod at the rack or maybe it's my rack and pinion I don't know, I haven't taken the boot off yet...
