I'm having a very difficult time getting my reverse lights to work,

I have an s13 coupe and it was converted from an automatic to a 5 speed.

Just recently I swapped the Chassis harness and Engine harness with a original 5 speed harness and got rid of the automatic Chassis and Engine harness cause the last owner hacked the crap out of it and left wires hanging everywhere.

I AM STILL USING MY AUTO Tranny harness.

The 5 speed harness doesn't have the inhibitor switch plug from the automatic harness. The middle of the 3 plug. (Pictured below)

I've tried to wire up the 2 wires from the Reverse switch to a constant 12v and the green/white reverse light. I'm getting nothing.

The reverse switch is working, I've tested it and it gets full continuity when it is in reverse.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Not my photo below, It's just an example of the plugs that I don't have, they were on my A/T harness.

You need to look at the FSM wiring diagram.

Make sure the black wires on the actual reverse light sockets are seeing ground signal.

I've been using the FSM wiring diagram, I think theres a break somewhere in my wiring harness, I'm gonna have to check it out and see whats up with it.

I've tried many ways already and I'm giving up on it for now, just gonna leave it alone till I find the time and energy to figure out wiring. I hate wiring and hacked jobs, which is why I got rid of all the old harness that was cut and spliced like crazy.

I'll keep it updated when I do figure it out.

Wellp, I got my reverse lights to work, but I didn't bother trying to figure out where the short was for the reverse light digging through the wiring harness,

I ran a wire from the reverse lamps in the rear of the car under the carpet and towards my shifter, I then removed my stereo and spliced and opened the constant yellow wire and soldered another wire on there, then I got a pen and poked a hole through the rubber shift boot and ran both wires through the little hole. I unplugged the plug on the lower harness connecting to the reverse switch and connected the two wires directly to the reverse switch itself with connectors. constant 12v and wires from the reverse light to complete the circuit directly. Reverse lights work now, badabingbadaboom.
