Issue: Fuel seems to cut out randomly. I have replaced the fuel pump twice now, and the filter as well. It will "stutter" randomly, and sometimes completely cut off. At first I could beat on the top of the pump and it would start working, but now I have to completely remove the pump assembly and put it back in for it to start back up. I am totally lost now. Anybody here got some ideas?

check the fuel pump relay.

did you try testing the pump out of the car to make sure its working first? it doesnt sound like the fuel pump itself, to me.

i know the pump is working, I can hear it cut on when I turn the key to on. Where would the relay be located?

yeah, you said the pump is working intermittently. i want to know if it runs indefinitely if hooked up to 12 volts. i could be wrong, havent messed with it in a while, but i think that relay is on the passenger side of the engine compartment behind the headlight in that relay box.

What's the condition of your fuel pump connector? If you get the car running, go back and just move the connector around some, see if it starts cutting out.

Speaking from firsthand experience.

ok, so extremely late reply.... just got back to working on it again. so I have changed the relays out, the pump, fuel filter, and the sending unit. it ran for a few minutes, then cut off on its own. so i put a voltmeter on it and noticed it was only 11v. about 10 mins later after pulling apart half of the trunks interior it was showing 12v and fired right up. i left the volt meter on it and drove around for about 5 mins and it ran fine. any ideas?

i recently had this same issue and i found out that i had a bad ground connection at the pump. also the power wire was alittle loose also. so i put a weatherpack connector in there and havent had an issue since. my issue didnt start until i hit a hard bump and it must have broke the connection in the walbro wiring. hope this helps you some.
