Hey guys. I'm trying to see if there is anybody in Socal that would like to buy a custom rear diffuser. mmdb, a zilvia member, is the guy that will be making it. This is not a commercial sale. It's just that I would like him to make one for me, but he doesn't know anybody that has a s13 hatchback in his area. So if you're in Socal and you are very interested in getting a custom rear diffuser, please get in touch with mmdb or me.
Here is the picture that got me started:

Hey sr20drifter1 thanks for starting this thread! I've been asked to make a few diffusers months and months ago, but I never had time since I was working. Now that I'm laid off, aka living the American dream, I have time to make a few.

I have a template (thanks manonegra) to make an s14 rear diffuser, I don't have an s13 to mock up a set. If anyone has a car I could use to make a diffuser contact me!

Hey! I think you're car is going to look like mine when you're done with it (if ever ;) ). I miss going to the track and tinkering on the car. The surf isn't good everyday and I need things to do. Starcraft 2 is getting boring! I'll probably come by next week to get measurements for the tower240's s13. Fun! Btw pick up your damn hood!

Sure, but the difficulty is finding an s12! I'm sure someone here in OC has a 300zx that wants one. Btw, does your car have an aftermarket bumper? If so I need that particular one you're using. Otherwise, an option is for you to send me a template of the rear bumper outline and I can get one made for you that way.

You can use my car, I'd be down. S13 hatch, located a couple blocks from FV.

I'll keep in touch! Btw, what bumper are you using now? Each diffuser has a different outline depending on the type of bumper made. I make them to fit a particular car, and I don't like the "universal" diffusers out there. Looks extremely BAD!

dude, you know Mike's gray hatch is just sitting at the shop.
And Robert's hatch is here all the time as well

Ahh! He has an aftermarket rear bumper though? Well I'll come by next week to take some measurements and see how to effectively mount it.

Yeah I'm such a slacker sometimes! Sorry :( Surfing, girlfriend, surfing... surfing. I'll return your bumper 'n valances soon. I need to make a template :X I'll get you some hummus house! I'll be over next week and say hello to the tower crew. Can't wait till you get the car running. That'll be exciting! I'm sure you'll be blown away with the knuckles 'n coilovers.

How much for the s14 one

I'm constantly looking for better solutions to build the diffuser and since I'm new to making them for other people, it's hard for me to say at the moment. But expect something reasonable. I'm not doing this as a formal way of income, just doing it for fun :D And since the economy sucks, and I know how cars can be addicting I'm willing to work with ya'll. Let's keep cars fun! Besides, it'd be nice to see more 240s at the track.

Stock. Exhaust cutout slightly to fit blast pipes.

EDIT: I don't necessarily want a diffuser, especially on stock aero. Just offering you a car to use for fitment since I'm close. I'd like to see how it looks on stock aero, but I doubt it'd be good. I'd just hit you up whenever I did aero.

we have a lot of Cali guys with s12's. My s12 is actually in Carlsbad right now.
we got a few in La, and others sprinkled all throught Cali.

pm me what you think a price per diffuser would be for the s12 and I can get you well on your way. Even if others don't want one, if the price is right I'll take one or two.

Ok got a hold of some suppliers to send me some of their material to put together a few diffusers. I'll start out with an s14 kouki jdm and get that squared then move onto a s13 (user here is sending me valances to mock one up and have 'em made), then I can move onto the s12 depending on the demand. I'll post up finished products. LMK you're requests in the meanwhile or what you'd like to see.

Welp found my supplier(s) and got the design down. All you need to do is install it (that's where your creativity comes in). The only one available now is the s14 kouki with jdm rear valances.

As far as differences go the new improved diffusers uses:
- DiBond for the base (Aluminum Composite Material and super strong)
- Strakes size has increased and runs width of the base
- Better designed brackets

The material used it strong as heck. It probably won't withstand a straight on rear impact over 60mph, but there isn't any problem with it surviving multiple track days. I've used mine for over 2-3 years without any issues. Anyway, fun fun. LMK if you want one made. Lead time is 1-2 weeks.

Next, I'll be working on the s13 with rear valance. And maybe an s12 next. Who knows :P Starting a new job soon so I won't have all the time in the world to make these.

If you got a JDM s14 rear kouki with valances I have the template made. The base of the diffuser is made of DiCore and the strakes are made of Alumalite. If you do a brief search the panels are made to withstand the forces of nature to at an extreme.

i found these on eBay. its just a generic rear diffuser but I took measurements and it seems like it would be a perfect fir on the s14.

the downside to this one is that it doesn't cover the far outskirts of the bumper... just the middle section. how bad is that? is it only like 50% effective that way, or maybe more like 75%? 0% effective? lol.

What type of testing is done on these? Is there even any legitimate aero theory applied to the design of the diffuser? The reason I ask is because from the pictures of the product it appears that there is no lip on the end of it which would defeat the theory of vacuum adhesion that a diffuser is designed for. You know there will hardly be a real aero effect without a full flat undertray? Functionality aside, I think it looks cool on that black Kouki, awesome for hard parkers.

Thanks ManoNegra for reminding me of this post! :) <3 I still owe you hood posts... pin things... damn it! I forget. If you buy 'em I'll reimburse you ;) I'm slow... and busy!

I made one for a kouki jdm rear bumper, but the user royally screwed me (proper feedback given), and I wasn't able to verify fit and finish. The next few diffusers I make I'd like the person to be local so I can have immediate feedback and verify fit and finish. I know some of you have PM'd me, and I apologize for not getting back to you. I've been pretty busy with my new job among with a few other things.

Honestly, ZERO - I've made one for my car cause I liked how it looked. I agree with your statement (no flat bottom = no bueno). You'd want a diffuser along with a front splitter and flat bottom to accelerate the air fast enough for the diffuser to its job correctly. At that point your car would be a track car, or close to it; which, in my opinion, isn't very many of the drivers here :X With that in mind, there is real world effect of driving the car in the rain and seeing the water droplets being flung up behind the car (see ALMS at long beach first day). Aero, is often overlooked!
