s13 failed emissions

my 93 240 failed emissions a couple days ago. i have a stock exhaust thats never been touched or messed with. my air cleaner is clean nd i was told it might be a fuel problem. has anyone else had an issue like this or do u know what will fix it. i dont wanna put injectors in it if it doesnt need. the car has 144k. any tips or info will help

Was it because of high Nox? What was too high?

I had the same problem before and poured RXP(orange bottle) to the gas tank and passed for two years that way. I was curious, so I found a used cat, replaced it and bam!! problem solved.

yea they dont check safety or anything but they check emissions...assholes haha

A new cat will usually fix it.. I've also ran alcohol+cat and it passed.

i bought 2 bottles of 'Heet' and added them to a little less than a quarter tank of gas. They sell them at autozonefor 10 bucks. I guess its like a gas line antifreeze and water remover. It worked on my engine and i have larger injectors than stock on a sr.

hes pretty much right as long as you dont have a CEL or SRS light on you'll pass! but you said it fail already? your gonna have to get it fixed by a emissions certified shop and have paper work to prove it =(

just ask around. my "friends" :coolugh:guy just needs ur registration and insurance and u will get a sticker; no need to even take ur car to him. if anything i would try to throw in those additive things that "guarantee a smog test pass" <--saw some at walmart the other night.

No safety checks in Jersey? Weird, NY cut OBD1 emissions completely and only does safety now.

nj used to have the strictest inspection. but last june they ended safety to have just emissions. state saves alot of money that way. plus townships make alot more in tickets and fines now.
