I just wanted to post this general follow up for anyone who has the same problem as me in the future.

After Xmas i got home from a week out of town and my car wouldnt start. After a bit of searching i came to the conclusion that the fuel pump was gone. There was voltage at the harness but no fuel pump action when you turned the key.

I was going to try and change the pump myself but i asked a family friend who is a mechanic to come over and take a look too. I had to literally rip the inspection cover off the inside of the trunk since the bolts were all screwed up, so ill need another one of those. Turns out, on closer inspection that 2 of the wires going into the sending unit had rusted off the terminals they were attached to. They both came detached while the car sat in my garage for a week. The fuel pump is fine.

Long story short im taking the sending unit to be repaired which will cost next to nothing and returning my $200 fuel pump. I dont have to pay a tow truck to take the car to the shop and i can finish the repair myself. And for any novices out there, if your comfortable working on your fuel system (unlike me) changing the fuel pump is really realy easy (as long as you dont have to mangle the inspection cover)

so anyone having this problem in the future, check those wires out first, it was a nice surprise for me!
