the limit on Japan cars is 25 years to meet US requirements. After 25 years you can then import any car you want from Japan into the USA. There are people trying to get this number reduced from 25 years to 15 years through legislation. I am all for it then you could buy a DOT exempt skyline from Japan for what ever they sell for in their home market plus transportation fees to USA.

You can already do that on Japan marketed AE86s and mid 80s cars soon (next 5 years) early 90s skylines will be exempt from DOT certs.

Good luck relying on those laws after 1996. No obdII compliance means no go on anything after 1996. J spec cars don't have those ports.

That car is considered to be on the Nhtsa's eligibility list (96-98 gtr I believe) BUT obd2 makes it a no go in the USA.

You could always get a state title if you can get it in the us.

But the Silvias and other such models will be.

Thats 100 percent BS. If you look into it there are r30 and r31s being imported all the time because there over 25 years. I really wish people with absolutely NO knowledge of what there talking about wouldn't litter the internet with crap.:bash:
