so i swapped my twin cam to another one and for some reason i feel like i missed some plugs for the cluster so now when i start the car none of the gauges work.

does anybody know the location of those plugs so i can find the and plug them back in?

tach doesnt work, gas gauge temp

Should be right above your steering column behind dash. I mean there's only 4 plugs and they all only fit in there own hole.

i know those are connected. im talking about where in the engine bay i would be able to find the plugs for the speed sensor or the tach. or is there a fuse that might have went out causing the whole cluster not to work even blinkers

anybody know where the tach and speedo would connect in the engine bay?

Sounds more like you shorted something out if the fuel gauge is not working... That has nothing to do with that engine bay/engine harness wiring.

the fuel gauge works just that tach and the speedo doesnt due to probably not installing the plugs for it when i swapped the motor. does anyone know where it could possibly be?

The speed sensor on your transmission is where your speedometer gets its signal from. The tachometer runs to the f4/m63 plugs and gets it's signal from the ECCS. So unless you switched harness's to one not for your specified chassis then it should be fine. The full service manual contains all of this information if you read it (under Engine Electrical).

So at first you tell us that none of the gauge works. Now you say fuel works, just not tachometer or speed sensor. I'm also assuming that water temp works now as well.

There is something called an interior plug connected to your engine harness, terrence gave you the name m63 or something, can't remember. It's above your ecu. Make sure that is fully connected.

Speed sensor is connected via your lower engine harness. It's separate from your main engine harness and has things like oil pressure sensor, neutral position sensor, speed sensor, and alternator wiring on it. The actual speed sensor is in the tail end of your transmission, closest to where the drive-shaft comes out, make sure it's connected.

The tachometer in S14's comes from the plug on the distributor if I remember correctly, given the internal coil rather than external coils that s13's are equipped with.

What I'm thinking: Obviously your car runs, so you can't exactly have your distributor disconnected. I'd check your interior plug first, then if it's connected start checking for shorts. Have fun!
