I have a 92 fastback and I've notice my gas milage droping down to 24 from the usual 28 for highway driving for the past month.  My whip's got 75k on it, what do you guys think the problem is?  spark plug?  injector?

thanks for help

Hey man the problems you mentioned are not whats wrong with you car at all.  Its the "winter gas"  that the gas stations are using which contains more oxygen which makes your car get really horrible gas milage.  So dont worry about your car its just the bad gas.

might try an oil change too
sometimes that'll do it if you havent done it in a while

Just wondering, how much do you guys get a tank?  I get around 200-230 miles a tank.  Not even close to 15mpg. And oh yeah, I have a '91.

i have 93 hatchback and i ALWAYS get anywhere from 280-320 on a tank depending on how i drive (city or highway). And i'm definitely not "nice" on my car... i actually thought i was getting bad gas mileage before :-) oh well, i'm not complainin anymore

Well, for DOHC, it should be avg 24 -28. &nbsp;I get 28 when i had highway miles. &nbsp;I think if you get below 20, there's som' wrong with your shitzits in there.. &nbsp;Even with hard driving I. &nbsp;get it checked out

WHat effects the gas milage, is it spark plugs, fuel filter, injectors? what are the main things that would be the reason for sucky gas milage

If I were you, change the plugs, wires, distributor cap, use injector cleaner, and 93+octane gas. &nbsp;Oh ya, also..get a K&amp;N filter. &nbsp;Another thing, do you downshift fully to a stop...or do you brake in neutral from 3rd/4th to a stop?

Wow, you guys suck at the gas mileage. I don't think I've ever seen less than 300 miles on a full tank. Last check was 27MPG. I accelerate hard on occaision, but 80% of my miles are done at 50MPH or faster <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> My engine is 100% stock, and I usually run 89 octane gas

I actually just had this discussion with my friend on the way down to Kansas City to pick up his SR'ed 240. &nbsp;I used to get 27-28 mpg no matter how I drove but lately it had been 24ish. &nbsp;I'm in Madison so he said wait till it warms up and if there's still problem then its serious but most likely its the gas. &nbsp;Well getting nearer KC we got gas and now my milage was back up to 28 (27.5 exactly on one trip). &nbsp; Now this is one day after getting 24 on a trip to chicago, and the same on the drive from chicago to Champaign.

Don't worry, its the gas. &nbsp; And for all you SOHC gas guzzlers, get an SR and it will pay for itself in 5 years. &nbsp; His got identical milage as my DOHC and was by no means taking it easy.
