Alright, ive got a starting problem on my 240, and yes ive already searched and read every thread i could find. This problem seems different.

Sometime when i go to start it, i hear a faint click, and nothing else. replaced starter & solenoid, replaced relay, checked for correct voltages, and even used a thermal imaging camera to check for wires developing high resistance. no cigar.

Now get this: If i put it into gear and roll it ever so slightly, like not even enough to turn over, i hear another click, and then i turn the key and it starts right up. What could this be?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

how loud is the click? is it a ping?
if you are rolling in gear, that means your flywheel is moving ever so slightly. so i would look at your starter being stuck out or shitty, or your flywheel being a pos

Good call, but the starter doesnt spin at all, so i dont believe its an issue with the flywheel. I have teeth missing in the flywheel of my truck, and what the 240 is doing is decidedly different.

Sounds like its the starter then. Swap in a new or used one. Nothing really else it could be.....

Still nothing or figured it out cuz I have the same problem randomly sometimes. I think it's something to do with the flywheel cuz when I did what you do it starts up fine too
