Hey guys, alright so i honestly dont know what to do... Ive read all the install guides what not, read through all the forums, asked irl buddies, did everything ive tried every trouble shoot possible i just dont know what to do... I bought some control arms and also tension rods. So i got the control arms bolted up that works out fine and everything but the tension and sway bar link dont bolt up flush... I need to have the ball joint like turn so i can turn the control arm counter clockwise, thats the only thing i can think of, but the balljoint is so stiff there is no way for me to turn it. I thought maybe if idrop the car down it should turn it or soemthign i dont know i dont want to make anything worse than it alrdy is. Heres the pics please help me out guys, i really really really realllly really dont want to tow it to a shop, maybe there is something im not thinking of?

You're missing a piece for those lower control arms. It should look similar to this:

http://i2.frsimg.com/images/detailed_images/Circuit%20Sports_FLCA-0013-HC_06.jpg
Those arms should have come with parts to make the tension rod sit flush and in the correct position.

ya i hav the little backet but i cant even fit bolt through with those on, they would work great if i could somehow spin the arm but i cant cause the bal join t is way stiff, you thinking droping car down will work?

^Maybe try putting the tension rod under the LCA like this... don't forget the spacer.

But it sounds like you'd be better off with stock LCAs....cheap bearings in these are usually too tight.

Ya i wish i got some oem ones :/ But too late now, i got it mounted up finally, used a pipe wrech to hold the arm then a long ass screw driver and finally got the ball joint to sit where i needed it, then they mounted up easy mode. So its not gsp fault idk why everybody hates on them, ive had their coils for awhlie now 0 problems. I picked up some gen 2 tension rods and their great so idk hit or miss maybe. But i set up the arms to exact length of the stock ones and i dropd car and wheel rub now >.< Also my alignment is way the fuck off and the steering is like not so responsive now... Sooo haha gotta try to figure this one out now. Its bad enough where im kidna scared to drive it to a shop to have the alignment done and it looked at.

Godspeed is that bad. Seriously.

Godspeed flcas are only acceptable if you rebearing them and welded the threaded adjuster to the tube. There is an excellent writeup that Def wrote on NRR that documents this process.
They are dangerous if you do not take these precautionary measures. Also, the balljoint stud that is included with those is crap and easily snaps. It's safer to drill out the taper and run a 3/4" bolt with a distortion head nut.

that seriously is the most JANK way to mount TC rods.. what makes chinese manufacturers think thats ok. good luck with that. really glad i invested in the 550 dollar pbm flca/tension rod combo. so worth it.

Ya idk im not tracking it or anything so i should be good, but i see where your coming from griego thx for the input i might try it out. But for now i just wanna get my car like drivable haha, i have no clue atm how im gonna aproach this problem with the steering. I dunno if alignment will fix it but like i turn wheel left and nothing happens but i go a little more it finally goes, it also makes a lilttle like clunk i guesse yo ucould say when i turn the wheel.

Some shops gonna not even wanna touch that im sure =\. Clank noise could be your ball joint as well.

02-18-2012, 11:36 PM
nah its not a clank noise ya i cant really describe it but its not the ball joint 100%, i gotta take another look at it tommorw. Ive had my gsp coils for 2 years now and their great i dont get why people just hate cause they paid top $$$ to daily it lol... doesnt make sense to me, unless your tracking full time it doesnt make sense to me, namebrand whores ftw. All the haters who say gsp is shit 99% havnt even used it let alone seen irl. People say they welds are shitty and will break, i dunno i work construction with people that have been welding for 30+ years and say their fine but w/e unless their pretty and $$$ name brand not good i guesse.

only been welding 5 years and their welds are not fine. ive seen a lot of gsp, megan, cs, or anything chinese for that matter having numerous cases of porosity, excessive undercut, and insufficient penetration. ive have cheap coils before. didnt mind them. couldnt handle the track tho..

Ya well like i said i dont track my car not trying to spend track performance $$$ i trust my welders when they say its fine(local 250 ftw)

It's not the welds that break. The bearings probably have no play at all, and the threads for the adjuster are just cut into the tube -- it's not a threaded bung welded to the end of the tube, they just thread the tube itself. This can/will develop play and cause the adjuster to just rip out of the end.
Just put some stock ones back on there.

name brand whores who pay top $$$ for coilovers to daily their car doesn't make sense to you, but buying "top $$$" flca and tension arms for your daily driver made sense? i say "top $$$", cuz i'm assuming that you're broke. were your stock ones bent? why did you feel the need to buy adjustable flca?
PoorMans180SX
02-19-2012, 11:43 AM
Get your alignment set where you want it, then weld the adjusters. They WILL come loose.
Also, the bearings in those are garbage.
Have fun pissing blood with the ride quality of the coils too, you have no idea what you're missing.
Why are you people helping? People with this mentality need to just die.
Its natural selection.

So if you dont track your car, why do you need this? Shouldve just kept it stock. If you did track your car, shouldve gotten oem LCA's and cusco tension rods or something. Like poorman said, get it aligned, see if any legitamite shop will touch all that jankyness, theyll probably charge you to make it right. And then weld the adjuster in place. And while your at it, buy different bearings now, before they sieze.

Poorman: I no longer piss blood i just had that checked out thx for concern :)
Wake: I dont think your parents need to die... Thats a little mean no?
Karl: I didnt get oem because i tried out gsp coils despite everybody saying negative comments, i gave them a shot and felt they preformed fine. I admit i probably should of got oem arms but as for tension rods i think their just fine. But im taking it to my buddy randy at evasivemotorsports see what he has to say.
Sry to everybody who made this a flame thread, i just wanted a little help :( I got it all taken care of now thx for the people who did help.

not to hate on brand names but the unadjusting of flcas isnt a cheap thing ive seen battle version flcas come unadjusted during a hard track day

Hey Guys,
Regarding the welds on GSPs, has anyone reported it breaking with track use? I have seen GSPs products and have experience with their products first hand and I really do not have anything bad to say about them.

I was looking at it and look how far he had it unthreaded, it was only held on by 5 threads >.< Thats not a install problem, if somethings going to snap on mine it would be a weld i would think, not from the threads ripping out, i have mine fully threaded in unlike that idiot. That would happen with any part if you leave it held on by nothing.

No, it pulled out of the tube because the adjusters came loose.
the blue one shows you how the threads are cut in some of them -- ie poorly. That blue one is pre-failure (or rather, factory/production failure).
