Ok so when I got my 96 s14 it was originally auto then converted to 5 speed from previous owner. And It has a cel for the neutral position switch. Can anyone help or guide me to help this thing go away and how I can fix it? Right now I'm using the auto ecu, I know that there is already gonna be a cel light from running the auto ecu with a 5 speed. If i just get the 5 speed ecu for my s14 will that fix the neutral position switch or is there much more to it? I dont know if this will help you guys but I dont even need to engage the clutch pedal to start the car. Any info is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

I changed out my automatic transmission with a stock 5 speed manual. I had to really loosen the engine mounts and force feed the transmission but with time and patience, its possible without body work. The clutch, and shift stick was easy to replace. The idle control and startup control however was a little more difficult. I couldnt figure out why my car wouldnt start for a while but if the neutral safety switch is even a little off center, the ignition will not start. So i relayed the switch cables so I have to ligthly step on the gas right at start up but with the new ECU i retuned the idle control to level out perfectly.

The car starts and run perfectly, I just want to get rid of the cel and the code that it is giving me Is for the neutral position switch. Idk if maybe the previous owner forgot to do something when he did the swap or maybe I just need to slap on a 5 speed ecu to make the light go away?

Test the neutral switch.
I did a 5 speed swap and after two yrs, I got a CEL for neutral switch. Drove the car for years like that. Finally swapped the sensor, CEL went away.
Check the FSM on how to test it.
You'll need a continuity tester.
