So I have had a lot of options on koukis

But they are all over 8k cash.

I'm looking at one with the following mods
KA24de has 220,XXX miles on it. Engine and Transmission has no leaks. CLEAN TITLE. A/C and heater both work perfect.
mods:
Jdm front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, and wing.
Powered by Max Gen 2 coilovers
Buddy club spec II catback or tanabe power medallion
Cobra R wheels 17x10.5 +20 all around. With the spacers its sitting at -5 in the front and -7 in the back. Subframe collars
6k HIDs
B&M short sifter
Z32 Four piston brakes
SS brake lines
S14 lsd

An looks like this

Is 8k too much

is it too much to you? if you feel comfortable paying 8k then buy it.

If you want a clean kouki you are going to have to pay. No one who has one will sell it for a "good" or even "fair" price. That being said, 8k isn't TOO high IF the car is in perfect or very good condition inside and out.

I'll tell you right now that tons of people will probably come in here and say that "OMG 15 year car for that much no way!!! I got mine for $2,000," but that is just zilvia for you..

8k is reasonable for a kouki in good condition. If you dont want to pay that then buy something in your price range.

You can get them for less of course. Miami has a lot of cheap swapped 240's. you can save thousands down there.

but that's a nice car :0)

I got mine for 6.5k. The car had 128k miles with the mods.

Are you willing to pay that much for one? I've seen ones with S13 SRs in it go for that much. But at the same time, before the economy went dow the shitter, it wasnt uncommon for people to pay $10k for stock engine'd Kouki because its clean.

If you're comfortable spending that amount on a shell. A ka24de with 220k is just waiting to leave you stranded somewhere. It's never been rebuilt, headgasket or anything? Did the owner replace any other bushings besides the subframe? At over 200k you can count on just about everything being shot.

If you can't find any for less than 8k then I guess it's not too much.

Heres a better question: is it a real kouki? If so then yes that car pictured is clean as fuhh and is worth 8k all day. If its a converted 95-96 then hellz no, shits worth 5k tops

Couped_up'd
02-15-2012, 09:59 AM
Yes. That kouki you have posted is worth 8k. If it is a 97 to 98 only. If it is a 95 to 96 it is worth much less.

02-15-2012, 10:17 AM
I wouldn't pay it, but that's just me. I payed 5k for my first one from a dealer, payed 600 for my second one. Stateside s-chassis are just too baller for me. lol
But if you're willing to spend it and feel it's worth it, go for it.

Also, look at this as a car, not fanboy masturbation fodder. Just because it's a kouki, which is purely aesthetics, does not make it worth anything. Look for records, parts replaced, major accidents and things of that nature. it's worth what you're willing to pay for it but don't let someone get one over on you just because "Bro, it's a kouki."

i love how people think 97-98s are "rare" as if nissan made some super special version. they slowed down production due to financial woes and dollar vs yen prices. i dont have my production figures in front of me, but they made a shitload of 95-96. so besides bumpers/hood/fenders, whats so fucking special about the 97-98? oh, thats right........ NOTHING.

fucking idiots

edit: i never cared much for s14's anyway. not bad looking, but nothing really special either. i swear, too many boy racer wannabees think of slapping some INGS+1 kit and call it a racecar.

qft. You could easily slap on exterior pieces and boast about your '"Kouki". Having a car made in the year when production slowed down shouldn't make a car any more rare than previous years.

Especially when it's a KA with that many miles.

Honestly, i HATE kouki chassis. The body lines just don't go with the car(stock)

Sadly, because of it being the newest s chassis you can buy...it makes them worth even more. Also the low production numbers( for whatever reason) makes the value go up. Just as any car.

For a little more you can buy a 350, g35, s2k etc. Id say 6.5 tops and I personally wouldn't because I would modify it, so why not start with a shittier one, if it's too nice to begin with you'll be to scurred to do anything to it

I am old fashion s13 guy.

Since production numbers is what makes a 240 "rare"...why aren't the s13 verts crazy expensive? Haha, just throw'in that out there.

8k is to rich for my blood, with 8k it should have at least a Sr in it

02-15-2012, 11:43 AM
yea like as some stated above. if its a 97 98 kouki i think its priced decently fair. The exterior looks extremely clean and also does the body

just me 2 cents.
good luck

quit being a fucking hater Mike
get off zilvia and finish your car
Buttonwillow in March, be there or be square

but I agree, if you're going to modify
start out with a 95

I wouldn't pay more than 6.5k. It looks nice and clean, I have seen it in person and it definitely shines. I would ask about the bushings being replaced, injectors serviced, who repainted the car and what materials, why he painted the wheels gold when they looked way better silver, etc.. Typical who, when and why.

And Im not sure why you are buying this kouki when in your for sale ad you were complaining about buying someone elses built car. Why not seek a stock one and build your own.

because the convertible, hands down, is the fucking ugliest thing nissan has ever made. its up there with the z32 convertible.

most important reason why earlier S14s are more valuable than later years: OBD-1

Being happy with your decision is the most important thing. One thing I can tell you, though, is when you eventually do find yourself in a Kouki you will never want to have anything else lol.

It is really hard. I have a 96 converted with a salvage title. It sounds bad but it is one of the cleanest ones out there IMO. The entire front end was replaced with OEM nissan parts (bumper/radiator supports included), there is no frame or structural damage whatsoever, and it is mechanically perfect. All stock except for coilovers and a few other suspension parts.

I am not exaggerating when I say I get compliments from people EVERYWHERE I go. Car meets, the store, the mall, anywhere I go it breaks necks ;). Even people that have no idea what it is compliment me. Out of the 8 cars I have had this is by far the greatest. At first I was hesitant to pay what I did for it but now I feel like I got it for a steal and it would take A LOT for me to ever sell it.

You're the "fucking idiot" here in that you cant understand they made less than 4800 '97-'98 S14s. Thats not a whole lot. Thus 15 years later they are pretty damn rare and pretty damn special.

For some reference, I paid 6k for mine last November.
SE, Auto, 117k miles. Clean interior, minor bodywork.
Only mod was front 300zx brakes.

Big +1 for traveling to find a better deal. Stalk the shit out of Craigslist.

People who don't like them themselves will never understand. There will always be buyers willing to pay high dollar for them if they are looking for one. No use arguing with people about it.

you're 21. you go to car meets and malls, you get complimented by others your age. based on my own personal experience, it doesnt take much to impress a 21 year old.

for shits and giggles, tell us your list of previously owned cars and what you're comparing a 240SX to.

and you my friend, are from indiana.

people from indiana think rota wheels are rare. they also consider miller light, good beer.

for fun, why dont you tell us what is so special about the 97-98 vs the 95-96. besides aesthetics, what major changes were made to these years and why are they so special? being a 240SX owner since 1996, I can tell you that they werent special then and they still are not special. Do I like them? Yes. Would I want one? Nope.
