My dad was just talking with me and he was saying there are four cars he regrets getting rid of: a sassy grass green '69 Roadrunner 383 Convertible, a 69 charger with a 440, a 65 GTO 389, ANDDD an '82 Nissan 200sx with 8 spark plug plug I-4 engine.
for the life of me i cannot find ANY information that this engine even existed. He said it was a screaming fast car, he was challenging big muscle cars at his local cruise nights with it even. Does anyone know any info on the dual plug engine?

Really, it took me less than 10 mins on Google to come up with a direction to follow.
All Z20, Z22 and Z24 engines were known as NAPS-Z (NAPZ or NAPEZ) engines, NAPS for Nissan Anti-Pollution System. NAPZ motors had dual sparkplugs per cylinder except the pre-82 versions and later versions of the Z24 as fitted to the Pathfinder. However all NAPZ engines sold in California reportedly had dual plug heads regardless of the year.
Yeah, it's Wikipedia info, but it's a direction to follow for research.
You're not a weird kid, you're a lazy kid.

thanks for the responses guys, and yeah i already looked at the wiki page, unless those power outputs are wrong i dont think there is any way a 103 hp engine could stomp on a '71 mustang mach one unless it was a wayyy f*ckin light car and a crazy drivetrain. Ill take your guys word for it though :wiggle: and sorry i am pretty much a massive newbie to all things nissan.

Z24s are the plague of the Nissan world. I had a truck with one and it was awful.
It was probably a gallo 12, gallo 24 or a Z24..Z24 more than likely

hahahahaha and yeah... i suppose '71 wasnt really the greatest year for performance... those were 351s or 302s?
and about the truck, thats what doesnt add up cus he said he loved that engine with a passion and would run like hell with 120xxx on the clock. who knows he could have failing memory at the age of 48 hahaha. He really regrets getting rid of it. Traded it in for an '85 supra, which he claimed was nowhere near as nice as his rusty 200sx

It wasnt a truck, it was an S12. It had a CA20E. They have 2 plugs per cylinder. They are slow as shit, though.

A lot of "muscle" cars weren't nearly as fast as our dads remember them, especially when compared to what's out there today.

so this pertaining to just s12 chassis only or s1o's as well? We used to have an S10 200sx, i can still remember the vinyl smell and how high the seats curved up and around my shoulders. The rear of the car was really round! lol memory lane

My mistake, i didn't see that he was referring to you.
However, everyone in this thread is having issues with reading comprehension. He said a 200sx. The engine he is asking about is a CA20E.
I forgot I'm on Zilvia, though, where dolts with high post counts give bad info to everyone.

I was thinking a CA engine also. The CA18ET had 8 spark plugs too so thats another option.

v8 double plug = 16 plugs.

Ca18et also run 8 plugs. And the term lead sled refers mostly to American "muscle" after 1972. 85% off all pre 72 v8's in most chassis w the kind of tires we have now would destroy all documented 1/4 times for the period

actually led sleds were cars that had body mods that used lead instead of bondos. back in the day, they used molten lead to mold parts onto cars bodies.

This is a true aswell, but refers more to the Rollin 20's-50's hardbody cadis, mercs and so on. Not so much the in terms of the muscle car era

All Mercedes motors except 4cyl and diesels had 2 plugs per cylinder from 98-06.

I guess he had a Merc engine in his '82 Nissan then. Or possibly a Hemi. Zilvian detectives for the win.

To be fair to the little Nissan, Starions are pretty fast for their age!
