My brother is trying to upgrade his '92 Galant NA and is trying to find out if the Eclipse's are using the same 4G63 engine as his Galant. Unfortunatly the DSM forum isn't as cool as Zilvia.net and doen't want to answer him so I'm giving his question a shot here. Anyone familiar with Mitsubishi's and the compatibility of the two models?

Im not too sure but I do know that Mitsubishi did bring over some VR4's for the US market. I dont think the Galant ever came here with the 4G63 (isn't that the turbo motor?) but yea not too sure.

I think in Japan they had a galant that used the vr-4 3000gt engine, though it was awd.

Yes, Galant's use the same 4G63 Motor found in the Mitsu Eclipse and Eagle Talon.  My winterbeater Talon has a Mitsu Galant FWD N/A motor swapped in.

Only major differences are the intake manifold, and an extra port for the oil pressure sender by the oil filter.   All sensors should pop right in.  You can post or email me if you have any other questions.
