So I removed my intake and put a egr block off plate and that other black box thing next to the PS can, but on the exhuast mani the egr tube is broken off and not sealed. And I can see gas coming out of it.

I also removed the butterfly valves but left the rod in place.

also sealed off the vac lines on the front and running the FPR on the vac line next to the break boost.

I used a felpro gasket for the intake, and RTV on the EGR block off.

When I start the car it jumps to almost 2k and drops to 1k for a sec then dies.

I am running a walbro with the stock FPR but didnt have any problems with it before. Could I just have a major vac leak?

Grounds are all good.

Guess you didnt read up on it. When you take all that crap out, specially the EGR, the engine will run rich. You'd need something to lean it out and compensate, like an SAFC or a rom tune.

Adjust your fpr, a 255 pump and no egr will run super duper rich.

I'm using the stock fpr so I'll just but the stock pump back in until I can get a adjustable fpr.

Also does anyone know which way the brake check valve face?
When I get off work I'm going to check my vac lines and make sure everything is nice and tight. Would a vac leak and mad rich just cuase it to die? Shouldn't it atleast idle?

Its because race car

Its like somebody putting coilivers and bitching about how stiff the ride is.

You do race car things, have race car supporting mods

Uh no.

Also I have coilovers and I love them, and if you don't have any good advice then stfu.

in gonna back FUTURE on this one...u do mods and expect shit to be all hucky dorry...and when it isnt you panic...i always try to research multiple places for the same info before i do a mod...anyways the check valve is one way valve so make sure it faces the right direction...

Well my old dohc swap I had in my hatch never had a problem with running rich with all the emissions removed but I had the stock pump so I going o use the stock pump until I can get a adjustable fpr. As for the brake check valve I romved it cuz it was getting annoying bit I'll check the fsm. Also I'm going to check my vac lines and make sure my egr is sealed good as possible.

Is this a KA?

I had a fully built KA, no emissions, and a 255 pump. I also removed my butterfly valves and the rod, and sealed the holes in each runner. I had absolutely none of these issues...car ran like it was stock.

well I couldnt get the rod out. And yeah its a KA. did you have a adjustable FPR?

I put the stock fuel pump back it and it doesnt run super rich and I have a vac leak on the intake some place. most likely my egr wasnt sealed good enough. so i'm going to get a egr gasket. Are there any vac lines to be plugged up in the back of the intake or only the two in the front?

Fix the vacuum leaks, that's your issue.

^same here.
When I installed my freshly rebuilt SOHC, I took of all the smog/emission and also charcoal canister, only vacuum line I have is 2" from intake mani to FPR. I also have a 255lph walbro in the tank. Car runs and idles great.

Im definitely agreeing with vacuum leak.

So the EGR is blocked off good.
its dumping white smoke and it feels like water is cooming out but my coolent isnt going down or anything it doesnt smell sweet or smell like gas.

I cant tell where the vac leak is, would a vac leak be causing this? also when I plug in my maf is sputters and dies.but seems like it wants to stay running.

What about that hose line for the brake booster. Is the vac line for the brake booster hooked up?

yeah thats all good.

this weekend i'm gonna take off the intake and rtv the felpro gasket b/c I think its leaking.
but when its running I plug in the maf and it dies. Would it just dump a shit ton of fuel to stay running b/c of the leak? and the maf kills it b/c it senses the amount of air and starts dumping less fuel but to much air b/c of the leak? lol

get the car running and get a full can of brake cleaner. anywhere you suspect a vac leak spray it with brake clean and it you hear the idle change rpm or pitch your vac leak is near there. makes it a bit easier on you to pinpoint the leak. good luck.

Would maf cleaner work?

Please use silicon spray..

I would check for ecu codes. Plug everything in and check codes at key on engine off.

It's definitely a leak somewhere, it sounds like you took the intake manifold off and put it back on? If so, perhaps the gasket/manifold is not sealed correctly. There is a coolant jacket that runs right next to the number 1 runner, it might be leaking some coolant into the motor, perhaps that is where your vacuum leak is?
If you have access to one, grab an aircompressor and seal off the intake and pressurize it to 5-10psi, you should be able to hear air escaping at the leak very easily.

yeah it was the intake gasket, got it all sorted!

Well I got it running.

but when its cold with the MAF pluged in it doesnt want to stay running. but if I unplug it and let it warm up and plug the maf up it runs okay....

but it doesnt feel like it has no power like it did before.
