View Full Version : sr20det head gasket replacement TROUBLE HELP

I replaced my headgasket on an sr20det motor s13 chassis. now when i turn on the car it hesitates going from 800 to 300 rpm then dies out after about 10 seconds. Can i get some help, ideas etc

Is your timing set correctly? What kind of headgasket did you get? If and kind of MLS did you have the head and/or block decked or atleast cleaned it REALLY good? You did replace the headstuds, correct?

nope......
timing.... then if it doesn't seem right still, you probably did it wrong again.

Yeah it sounds like your CAS is a tooth off. A tip that i've learned is that when putting it in, turn it to the right just a hair so that it will catch on the correct tooth.
Also, while I doubt it's your problem at the moment, I'd invest in some ARP head studs. The OEM studs are torque-to-yield meaning they stretch when you put them in and it's not recommended to reuse them
