I bet a shop where they sell and install alarms would be able to do this for you with no problem

i seriously need someone to read your post out loud so i know where one thought ends and another begins.
just replace it with a stock switch since "this is the only car you have right now," and do a little more research instead of tearing shit apart before you know what you're doing.

I knew what kind of thread this would be when I read the title.

Lemme get this straight...you have a bad key cylinder and instead of fixing it with another cylinder, you want to replace it with a push start button so you can start the car without a key?!?! I know you're new and all but you do realized that these cars are the new civics when it comes to thieves right?!?!

If you are serious about this and this is what you want...shoot me a PM and give me your address. I'll save you the hassle and I'll install this push start for you. That way, I can come back with a coat hanger and drive off with this thing...I do want a kouki front end.

i have some tool i would like to do it myself i

When it comes to electrical, tools aren't critical, you could do most of with a knife. The most important is the mind filled with knowledge of how electricity works.
For example, I have never seen the circuit of a push start engine yet, but I'm very sure that the button just controls a computer.
Seeing that you don't have a newer car where the computer starts the engine, I don't see how you'll be able to install the switch alone.

However if you do want a push start car with no key, do it a simpler way, get a few switches and wire them instead of the factory ignition lock.
If you can read English all you need is FSM which will tell you wire colors that need current applied to them for the engine to start.

You need a double pole starter switch, switch for ignition and this will get your engine started. You could do separate switches for other things such as acc, fuel pump, lights, etc... or have them wired to a single switch, up to you.

Push start button will trigger a relay which will direct power to the starter for as long as you are holding down the button just like for as long as you would be holding the key in the start position. Now for security you could make a kill switch hidden in the car that must be enabled in order for the push start to work. That would be the smart thing to do. But not as smart as handing your car over to fliprayzin240sx.

How will it work???? Cranking an engine won't make it start. Needs fuel and spark, where is it gonna come from? Let me guess, wire it to push start button also, so it only runs while your holding the button?

ive done this before... but i cant remember the exact way but from what i remember. all you really need is 1 relay, 1 toggle switch, push to start button or whatever you wanna use. i used a toggle switch. and wire. you connect a wire to your starter(i cant remember exactly where sorry) run that to a relay then into your car. connect another wire to ground. you connect 1 toggle switch which will act as a kill switch then attach the other end of wire to the button. then obviously the ground. then place wherever you please. sorry if its not exactly how it is but pm me and ill call the friend who did it for me. took like 15 minutes.

fuel and spark are controlled by the ecu... oh wait i completely forgot that you want to take off your ignition switch..... OP nevermind what i said.. you just made your life more complicated

ok, heres what you do. plug the original ignition switch harness back and wire it to a 30 amp 3 pole toggle switch, this kind of switch has an off position, and 2 on position. it has three connectors coming out the back. you can find these at truck accessory stores or Grainger. one wire goes to a 12v source and the other 2 goes to accessory and ignition. it would go to accessory on the first throw and ignition on the second throw. now find out which wire is the starter wire and hook that up to one side of the push button switch and the other side to a constant 12v source or a switched 12v. hide the toggle switch where no one would look or be hard to find .problem solved. theres a catch, some ignition switch has 5 wires or more, you would have to find out what those wires power. some of them power accessories like cooling fans, power windows, etc. you might have to install multiple switches so that you don`t overload the switch.

Did you buy just a button or an actual push-to-start kit with proximity fob?

I can obviously come up with a million cool ways to start your car, but I just don't have the time to type it all out. So I would recommend buying the kit above which will also take care of your security issues since you will need the proximity fob to actually start it.
