How do I know if my steering rack is bad? I replaced my inner and outer tie rod ends and had the car align and it felt great very responsive. Now 2 months later the steering has a lot of play. Ever thing is tight I even replace the lower ball joints but no improvement. I did notice my power steering pump is leaking but I'm not sure if that will cause the sloppy steering..any idea where to buy a steering rack ? ebay?

Your rack AND/OR your sub frame could be loose. Your rack bolts require 75 ft/lb of torque.

Also check the 4 subframe bolts in the front that bolt to the chassis....

Is there wheel bearing play or tension rod?

What I would also do is put the front on jack stands and have a friend get in the car and turn the steer wheel.... All the while you get under it and see what is loose.
