yup, both of the bolts that connect the catback piping to the cat were rusted and snapped when i tried to remove them.
Now i am stuck with rusted broken bolts sticking out of the cat that cannot be removed.
I have narrowed it down to 2 options that I think could work, but if you have any suggestions please feel free to tell me.
option 1 - go to a muffler shop and have them weld the bitch back on, i wont be able to separate the piping from the cat ever again, but that wont matter once i get new exhaust and a straight pipe.
option 2 - get a 2 in straight pipe and replace the cat with that, then buy some new bolts and re attach. (PS where could i get a 2 inch straight pipe?)
well, what do you think?

take it to the exh. shop and have them weld a new flange onto the cat....then you can use a bolt through the holes and never have that problem again.
even if you do option 2 you are gonna have to cut the pipe before the car and lose that flange...not a good idea...cause yuor gonna clamp it since i assume you dont have a welder, and then listen to the leaks.

I would just drill out the bolts(I thought they were studs) and through bolt the cat. and the exhaust back together.

I had the same thing happen to me, what i did was used a hack saw, cut the bolts till they where flat, tne drilled them out, and bought new bolts and nuts and it works

well, I got this guy at meineke to cut out the bolts, got some new ones and it works great.
1 thing though - my exhaust is QUIETER than it was before i took it off!! i know because it used to rattle stuff in my car around 5000-6000 rpms. It is noticeably quieter now, and has lost some high end power. wtf?

Something similiar happened to me, I just had the cat chopped off and a test pipe welded in it's place. Big difference!

Mind if I ask.....
Louder? Quieter ? I would think more power through the entire RPM band....right?
It shouldn't fuck with the MIL...I don't think...right? If it doesn't than I am going to run that,I can't think of any negatives to not having a cat:)

so the bolt is stuck in? if it is..juss buy a reverse drill bit. You'd have to drill a hole first then use the reverse drill bit..it would take out the bolt..hopefully heh the reverse drill bit is bout 3 bucks at a local hardware store..im not sure if thats the problem..juss trying to help.
