View Full Version : Ka to sr tachometer and fuel gauge help

Hey guys I did ka sohc to sr20det swap in my 89 coupe everything went well. I did all of the correct wiring fuel pump works car runs and drives fine but the tach doesn't work and the fuel gauge don't work the car was auto. My question is did I miss something for the wiring or is there another way or wireI can tap into lmk what u guys think thanks

SOHC cluster doesnt work with SRs, you'd need a DOHC cluster/tach.

You may need a different speed sensor. if the sensor in the sr hasn't already been changed.

why would he need a speed sensor? he is complaining about rpm not his speedometer

OP yes you need a dual cam cluster for the speedometer to work for your sr basically any s13 past 91 or newer, check your local junk yard I got one for 20 bucks at my local pick your part.

He shouldn't need anything because this info has been documented, and that's the same reason Jasonx63, should have gotten it right!

I believe you do need to use the KA sensor, but as was stated, the Speedo was not even a concern, the fuel guage was

As for the fuel guage, that should have nothing to do with the swap, it's a function of the chassis, not the engine, so check your fuel pump cradle wiring and see if the guage itself is getting power / signal...

well personally my rpms werent reading right, i replaced ever sensor on my transmission except the speed sensor and that shit wouldnt work right. i changed the speed sensor and it worked. i know its not a USUAL problem but it was mine so i threw it out there.
