Pretty much all JDM companies are pulling out of the states and moving their operations back to Japan. Shitty economy on both sides of the water and really bad exchange rate just killed business here.

DMAX is still running business out of Japan.. If you want DMAX parts you'll have to order it from RHDJapan.

Or we could all do a group buy so freight isn't so much and we can all get our type 3 kits and live happily ever after

Group buy for type 3 would be legit. If an actual vendor organized it

Hmmmm…. Thing about a vendor is it might suck only because they're going to want to up-sell us on the kits. Honestly I don't know why a vendor hasn't just bought a container already. I'm sure there's enough of us s-chassis owners that would buy everyone of them imported.
Might be better off having someone we know who lives in Japan that can work with D-Max to organize it. I know legit people who I'm sure could make this happen if there's enough interest and understand their kit won't arrive at their doorstep within a week ->literal lol

More like, they realized America sucks at building cars and decided to leave us with our fake body kits and Varrstoens while they sell stuff to people who build real cars back in Japan.

theres a lot more to it than that. it was mainly poor american management and distribution. dmax is an excellent brand but its american distribution partner did a horrible job with it.

And 90% of people would rather buy a cheap knock off kit with terrible fitment than pay full price for the real deal :bash:

Its alot harder then you think to just organize a group buy.. and with body kit its especially hard. The wait, people getting irritated, the seller getting irritated from getting called everyday, having to fulfill the list in order to make the gb, shipping it without damage... its a big headache.
You may think that this cool body kit would get 2 pages of thumbs up but over 90% of Zilvians wouldnt go through with the purchase. The wait, the cost, the hassle to go through paint... If you think about it not that many people are 100% dedicated to their car. And half the people who do buy them dont even paint it.. or professionally painted.
Noone would stock these kits because we already know it takes forever to sell. Maybe 1 or 2 a month.. Not worth stocking a bulk when its just money sitting there. Manufacturers dont give you a big discount if you stock it.. Just no point. Rather get things from VIS and make a few buck.
Ive been down the road of selling body kits on here so i would know.. Ive sold cheap ,expensive kits, polyurethane kits and in the end, Americans are into cheap stuff. You just cant deny that.

If D-Max was smart enough, they should have brought the manufacturer here.. or just sell directly to public without the middle man distributors.

You can still get DMAX...you just have to pay to play. Not everyone is going to be willing to do so. It's a shame that they packed up shop, but it's like what people have already mentioned. People generally like cheap things...

The biggest killer of genuine Japanese parts is American impatience. Joe schmoe wants TE37's but doesn't want to wait months and months and/or eat ramen or not eat at all to afford them. So varrstoens.

Unless you want to pay an arm and a leg in shipping from J-Land then yes, I'd recommend that you snap it up.

We are authorized D-Max distributors. We typically send a few kits on our containers for customers every other month or so. We'd be happy to do a big group buy for kits, but with all the knock-offs out there it never seemed like a viable option.
D-Max dropped all their aero kit lines except for the Type-3, which is now known as the "Drift-Spec" line and the Racing Spec kit they have for the S15. The prices jumped up a bit because they are having it all manufactured in Japan so the quality is high.

Just some numbers:
D-Max D1-Spec Kit Retail - $1,000
Distributor Cost - $700
Container (unloaded at our Portland warehouse) - $5,000
With a $300 profit per kit it would take 16 full kits just to break even on the shipping costs alone. We'd be shocked if a D-Max aero kit group buy ended up at even 10 kits sold.

Don't think that is actually D-Max. Just one of their distributors with a website that makes it look like it is. Even say FRSport at the bottom. Do they actually have any of that stuff in stock? If they are bringing in containers of D-Max stuff more power to them, but it just seems like a good way to lose money in this market.

Well, they've had one container come in so far, and to myknowledge plan on more to come.. I'm sure they'd be able to get what they offer on the site.

Who cares if FRSport is bringing containers in and it's not some D-Max Japanese staffer they sent over to handle it? It's in stock in the US and genuine D-Max. Two thumbs up.

Mr. Boe
I was wondering by any chance do you have an inventory list of what exactly is inside the container??? I am looking for an s13 D-MAX rear trunk lip spoiler... and also just to throw it out there [I know its not D-MAX but same company] maybe hopefully a set of supermade s13 front fenders.
