changed my rear brakes and now got this smell

Ok I changed my rear brake pads and rotors yesterday and today I noticed my rear driver side tire(I'm assuming its the tire) smells like I been doing burnouts on it. In other words like burnt rubber. After letting the car sit for awhile, I go back and still smells the same way. All the other tires don't smell like that. Wat can it be?

Check and see if that rotor is significantly hotter than the other side after driving the car. Sounds like a seized caliper.

as long as you were able to twist in the caliper piston the smell you are smelling is the top layer of the pad burning up, which is completely ok...the thing you should be doing is drive it then look at the rears does one side have more brake dust than the other if it does then the side that you have is the side that is seized/broke

The stock rear calipers suck. It always seems to be the driver rear that goes first. At least for me in the 5 s chassis I've owned. I did the rear z32 conversion and am so happy with it.

^meaning the back calipers need to be twisted open unlike the front that just need to be squished open. I've known a few people that busted the rear's by going ape on them.

OP, check your brake fluid, make sure you are not losing any as well.

U must be crazy thinking for me to touch the rotors. But I did notice the rear driver side caliper is much hotter than the rear passenger

Just went through something similar so heres my 2cents.
Mine started doing this when the brake booster started to go out and then finally went out, first it was just the rear drivers side(furthest caplier from the abs in my case), then all 4 just started locking up completely while driving!

First id pull the caliper and pads off, clean the shit out of it with brake cleaner, then make sure to lube the pins and use the correct brake tool to turn back in the piston when you go back together.

Go ahead and bleed the whole system as well, a pneumatic brake bleeder is recommended for that.

If that dont take care of it then youll want to look into making sure your booster is working right by checking its vacuum(pedal should drop significantly when you start the car) and replace your caliper if all else fails.

Wow... Ur wheels locked while driving! That's some scary stuff! I think its the pins that need to be lubed cuz they were dry. Didn't put any grease cuz I didnt have any. I will do it asap. Also isn't one of the gaps on the piston suppose line up with some little bump thing on the pad?

I just fixed the piston on the caliper on the rear driver side. It wasn't on right and also greased the pins. I'll see how it works tomorrow
