PLZ help,. rpms idling low,.

so i was driving today and all of a sudden my engine started to idle funky, saw my rpm's and i was at a stoplight and in Drive, the RPM's showed at 500-700, while driving it after that it ran sluggish. Soon after that it just quit on me and i turned it back on and once again it stopped. so i tried once more but stepped on the gas peddle and got it to run quickly than shot it into drive and left, so what im wondering is why this is happening or what is causing this situation to happen,?

Things i considered,
1)fuel injectors
2)distributor?
3)fuel pump
4)IAC
5)AIV?

when it runs will it rev all the way up ? or does it stall out around 2500ish

do a fuel pump test ( grab a empty 2L that has been cleaned out good ) and run a line from your fpr to it and see if it fills it up slowly. if it does, possible change your fuel filter and/or pump

is there gas on the intake manifold ?

it revs just fine, but at stops it dies, i'm a complete noob but i can do work. and i'll try to do that tomorrow if i have time, and i'v already considered testing it and or replacing both fuel filter and fuel pump. but its gonna have to be cheap cause im planning on selling the car, dont wanna drop money in and not make profit

Is ur car auto or 5- speed? I see u said u were on drive. So I'm assuming its automatic. Try putting it in neutral right before u start braking and see wat happens when u get to a complete stop. Let me know

auto -_- and iv done the brake early thing and then once it is idling low i put it in neutral and it rises back up to 900rpm but not 1100rpm, and then when light turns green i put it back into drive and it goes back down to (400-500) quick then i step on the gas and the rpm's rise, but i tried not stepping on the gas and it died,. soo i have two options.
1)replace fuel filter, and fuel pump< if problem is that:-/ or
2)buy another ka24e for $150?

i just had the same problem. my car idled low and when i downshifted it would stall. turns out it was a vacuum leak. check all your hoses to see if there connected properly or if there is any leaks anywhere. mine was the the hoses that ran from the air filter to the engine bay. best of luck

Check ur auto tranny oil and see if its low. Check it while the car has been running and reached normal temp. Then check when the motor is cold. If its low, that may be ur problem. Cuz mine did the same thing and I put a whole quart of tranny fluid and it stopped doing it. I have a leak somewhere. Check the bottom of ur tranny and engine and see if ur leaking any oil

oh damn, and i know there is one hose that aint connected and its to the air filter box, but the box was taped off and thats how i had bought it, so idk, and aight i'll check it out tmrw and post pics wit the canon to see whats wrong and get some pointers and stuff,

hm i havent thought of that, could be?, will check tmrw, iv switched the engine oil to royal purple, recently had to buy another 2qts to refill, and that was when the odo read 224 and then refilled at 227

LMFAO, yeah tell me about it xD i was gnna do a 5 speed swap but i rather just sell this car and buy another clean shell thats already 5speed and drop in a SR,

Why not just keep that one and just get the 5speed drive shaft, cross member, master cylinder, and other small parts to go with the Sr swap? It comes already standard.. but i got an s14 and them are rare here in austin

yeah it was shitlow lol, ima fix it and idiot me smelt somethin funky and i opened my radiator cap and bam,. SMH -_- . buttt i know a friend here and he has a 5 speed shell and also the dohc :D soo i will be keeping my 240 and doing the swap than start on a turbo build:D oh and i'll post pics of the car right now

I had similar happened to me and it was MAF. Though it didn't die, it was running sluggish. My MAF plug was loose and I knew it, so every time I see the check engine light on or my idle is running low, I get out and adjust the plug until it's flushed. I will need a new wire soon since black tape isn't holding it in place.

mine aint connected to my air intake box, so that might be it? my tranny fluid is filled properly and it still doing it, so ima needa get a new hose that can connect the MAF to the box, cuz mine doesnt reach plus the air intake box has black tape covering the whole?

Consider saving up money cuz u may run a possibility in needing a torque converter. Hurry and change it to manual. My torque converter went out.

some kid is gonna buy my hatch for 3500, so im looking for a clean s13 shell and a ka24de, then start a build, if you know anyone than thatd be great! :D but ima let the kid know what needs to be done and shit, id have to say thats 1/2 problems with the car besides the drivers side auto seatbelt but i took it to the nissan dealership yet they have yet to call me back, dickheads. but i can tell him to just change the drivers side to s14 manuals
