I am moving to vegas from Hawaii. I'm looking for an sr to buy, but most that are for sale need to be smogged. In Hawaii we don't have that crap. What will it take to pass an sr!?!

Passing smog with a sr is not possible without some kind of illegal process dip shit.

This site and its members donnot par take in any such illegal activities.

Legit (as in legal) way, your funny. Engine never had emissions so no there is not a legit way. Legit (as in cool) way is to get someone who will ignore the fact that its an SR, get the engine running perfect, run a really efficient cat, pay said man a arbitrary number in the 3 digits, and hope that it passes.

Oh and your right this maybe a thread started by you but this is not your forum.

Just register it in a smaller city outside of Vegas... Vegas and Reno are the only 2 cities in Nevada that you have to smog a vehicle in the last time I checked!

SR's can pass emissions fine. It's easiest to do if you have all the stock emissions components installed.

Yes SR's do have emissions control devices. Namely the Charcoal Canister and EAI (Air Injection which is a valve stuck to the side of the engine).

If you hook it all up and it's all stock, it should pass a sniffer test. Visual they will USUALLY pass as well (I don't know Nevadas testing procedures, so I cant be responsible if an SR passes or not). Here in Arizona they look and see "Nissan" on the engine, look to see if your charcoal canister is hooked up, do a sniff test then send you on your merry way.

When I say emissions I mean EGRs and the other what not that US states require. Charcoal canisters don't effect what comes out of your exhaust for the most part(which is what someone ignoring the fact that the engine is a SR will only care about), they collect evaporated gas when the car is turned off, passing the vapors into the engine when it is first turned on to burn. And Arizona passing visual is one thing but Nevada(at least in Reno) will not visually pass a SR because its not a legal engine in the states.

Here in Cali it is getting hard to find some one to look the other way because the state is now charging 20k in fines and pulling smog license for even one botched smog job now. Most guys wont risk their lively hood anymore.
