I took off my front suspension today but i saw that my front hubs werent turning on the knuckle as smooth as it should (felt like the grease was hardened) so i took them off and disassembled them and clean out all the old grease and put them back together with out grease since i dont have any at my house. But once all back together the bearings had a lot of play (shown in the video in the link below), so what im asking is that normal for used hubs with NO grease?
Will it get better if i pack it with grease?
Also if i put it on a knuckle, you cant feel the play, its solid once bolted to the knuckle, so would these be track worthy, or should i just get new ones?

S14 hubs might have play if they are not torqued to spec
But that does look like an unusual amount of play... Are you sure you didn't break anything on the crowns? Did you install the crowns the same way the came out?
I wouldn't even think about running them without grease.....
I regreased my s14 front hubs but couldn't get the shield thing in the back of the hubs to pop back on completely... I can press it down no problem but it just pops back up even after a good torquing... Did you have this problem?
Edit -
Just checked my front hubs and they do have some play like in your video. Definitely get some wheel bearing grease in there.
Also took a pic of "shield" I was talking about. I know they didn't have this gap before I took them apart and the shields kinda popped out of place when I was taking them apart.... I was expecting them to pop back into place but now they are just kinda sitting there.

Yeah I put them back together just like they came apart, and I don't think I broke any parts. I do have the same problem with the shield thing it doesn't go all the way back in, the bearing actually spins slower with the shield on. Ive just thought of getting new ones since even if I grease them up they won't be as smooth as new ones.

Mine had some in and out play, dont recall the side to side. If I was in your situation, I'd slap them off after regreasing them, see if you have play with the wheels on.
