Look for a local importer on a motor and go check the motor out personally. I heard bad things about every single importer - including the Zerolift company that has ATROCIOUS feedback - so I went and personally check it over. Compression tests, checked the harnesses, etc. Don't trust the internet. And why don't you check the 'For Sale' threads? There are usually a shit load of them for sale. You know exactly what you're getting, too.

Since your in Fresno, drive your ass to Sacramento or LA and pick an engine up. I used to go to Venus-Auto in Sacramento for my engine needs.

i was thinking venus since thats where my friend gets them for his se-r but never will i get them privately owned since ive been fucked over twice now with them having bad internals. I just really dont want ot keep motor hunting cause even the ka i picked up had stripped caps on the cams

I just ordered from JDM Engine Corp and am more than happy with my purchase. They answered all of my questions, provide compression test videos, and package their motors very well for shipping.

Have you got it in and running yet? Ive heard alot of not so pleasent things about them.

Me? Yeah, Got it in day before yesterday and it's running like a dream. I also bought an s14 sr with an auto tranny so it was probably treated a lot better(put my 5spd on it). I bought my other s14 sr from JDMOnline and it never ran right. I highly recommend buying one that was an auto though if you can. You might spend a little more for a tranny, clutch, and flywheel, but it's more than worth it

:goyou: ↑ I'm surprised that place is still in business. Somebody even uploaded a video on YouTube about an SR he got from there with really bad knock.

Really? Well maybe I got lucky. Every other SR I saw had some form of aftermarket part on it which I was trying to avoid.

I just bought my engine from JDM Engines Corp and it was a BADASS deal. $1799 for a high and even compression blacktop s13 sr20det. I got lucky and got nismo 555s, s15 bb turbo, HPI ceramic coated manifold, turbo outlet, silk road racing clutch, z32 maf, tomei cams, metal head gasket and a really well tuned ECU.

The guy at JDM was super nice and the engine runs like a dream!

Im not saying they did. Hell, I bought an RB20 from a shop here on the east coast, clogged injectors, blown turbo, and there was some more stuff wrong but cant exactly remember, as it was over a year ago.

If I get any more motors im getting a front clip and seeing them run first. lol

When are people gonna realize that most engines left behind in Japan are shit?!?! If it looks like its been sitting for a while, theres a reason for it. Only engines left are left over shit that nobody wanted when everybody were picking the good ones, or from currently running cars. Even the locals are starting to hoard good engines, so if the locals dont want it, its getting exported out.

Buy a clip... Not a engine.

that one was pretty damn clean too. i thought about buying that one (he has extra ECUs and 5 spd trannies there) but decided to stick with the non-vvt motor

Yeah I already had an s14 sr tranny and ecu so I was set. This was the rear main seal area before any cleaning:

From what i could gather, the car that the motor came from was just driven normal and maintained. I don't think it was driven like a silvia/240sx.

in the business review section, I just made a post for jam engines corp. after you get the engine up and running, if everything goes well, post a good review for those guys.

they've had some bad feedback on here (probably sold a small percentage of bad engines, and also people CAN screw up motors and point the finger at the seller), and people usually only post bad stuff, not the good. since the guy is local to me, i'd like to support him.

I was thinking the same thing about how people usually post about bad experiances rather than the good ones, which is why i chose the shop im taking it too very carefully, cause it seems as though there are a lot of shady shops and sellers.

It's a short drive to LA for you, just go pick up your own from the 50 importers there. Go to JRAutoparts. Vince is a jerk but he has good stuff, and he's got a LOT of random stuff you'll be tempted into buying.

FWIW, I wouldn't recommend Zerolift unless you liked getting dicked around by smooth talkers. This is personal experience and my negative reviews have been deleted so take it as you will.

I've heard more bad than good stories about jdm engine corp. I don't know if you guys have ever heard of jhot imports? They used to be the best but closed. Thankfully one of the co-owners opened up another place, Dallas Jdm motors eBay My World - dallasjdmmotors (http://myworld.ebay.com/dallasjdmmotors/?_trksid=p4340.l2559) . Check them out. I just bought a s14 kouki clip that came with MANY goodies for cheap. Would put the ones advertised here to shame, not to be mean

from the look of things since i cant get my car down to los angeles to have the motor installed i may be ordering a motor again, fuck this scares me since i dont want to have a bad motor shipped hahaha ok so i think im going to go with jdmengineworld.com get a sr and buy a ready harness elsewhere but i couldnt find any reviews on them here on the forums.
