View Full Version : HKS Hi-Power VS Greddy Ti-C

So, i got my tomei expreme exhaust manifold for my sr and now im trying to figure out an exhaust, originally i wanted to get the tanabe concept G turbo back because it seemed top quality, and because it has a 4" tip, however it seems a lot cheaper to just get a greddy downpipe and ti-c exhaust or an hks hi-power and hks downpipe. So ive given in to the bigger exhaust tips =\, so which exhaust do you think is better? Thanks.

I was stuck in the same exact position... Greddy tic or hks hi power.. I went with the hi power the 85mm pipping it's great sounds good to. Also depends on how loud you want it to be. The hks has a nice deep tone and is quiet in most cases compared to the greddy tic which a little louder !

i have the hks hi power on my n/a ka. sounds nice and deep and not loud in the car. only problem is it sits kinda low, so on a slammed car it scrapes the shit out of everything

:stupid: here's what the last flange looks like now after dailying it low for a month. it was roughly an inch and a half from the ground so it was bound to take a beating lol. don't mind the hair and dried blood. that possom was already dead.

I wanted the HKS HI-power but because of less restriction and it is tucked up higher i chose the buddy club spec II. Noise polution wasn't any concern for me and its quite a bit louder than the HI-power

I appreciate all the feedback, & wtf @ the roadkilling hks exhaust^ lmao. & wow i thought the hks was the loudest, also i think the hks muffler canister is bigger then the Greddy, and the muffler tip. Also For everyone saying which exhaust is more quiet or loud, do u still have a cat on? And ^ ive heard blitz nurr is the best before but i believe that would be like $200 more in the end if i got a blitz nurr catback & downpipe.

Just to give you more options, Ive got a vid of the isis with a cat if you wanna hear it on an NA KA, PM me if you do cause I dont wanna get the ban hammer for posting it.
If you drag your exhaust too much, it could crack your very nice Tomei manifold. Just something to think about.

yeah one of the hangars that holds up the muffler part broke right off left a hole in the piping. also the can thing in the middle of the car scraped on everything, after hitting a couple street reflectors and taking speedbumps to get to school that shit looks like an accordian lol. shits done for im getting the buddy club spec 2, im more worried about ground clearance than sound at this point

I had a greddy ti-c on my NA KAE before my car got jacked. Sound was amazing, always got compliments. Nice deep tone not raspy like Honda kids. I spent a good month deciding between the same two exhausts and I ended going with the greddy because I prefered the sound to the hks.

I have a Apexi GT Spec in 95mm on my S14 and it is the nicest, and cleanest low rumbling but not too loud exhaust out there, bought it for my s13's now also on my s14, a bit expensive but worth the wait. Thats what i would go with

just save and go full titanium. Once you do, you will never want SS exhaust again. Just a titanium tip is stupid. Do you give your girl "just the tip"? No, why? Because its not as fun. It always sounds better(my opinion I guess), and your saving weight (the single best thing for a car in all categories). You should be able to find some decent ones in 1,200 dollar range unless times have changed. Haven't exhaust shopped in years. I was lucky and scored mine for under a grand. I have an apexi N1 also and it's no comparison. Just my 2 cents.

i had a Trust Ti R and the build quality was amazing (though it was loud, don't know if that matters to you or not). It didn't hang as low as my friend HKS Hi Power as well. I'd buy one again if I was in the market for a exhaust.

@Mr.clean Theres no way I'm paying an extra $200 for titanium lol i don't think the weight difference is that much. @Jonathanprem Not thread jackin, i was curious about that too. @tricky_ab i looked into that exhaust, greddy says each Ti-R is custom made to order which explains the amazing build quality however also makes sense why it takes up to 5 weeks to make, and retail +$1500 lol

This is actually what I'm running now. Must be the exhaust of choice once you hit 30. Quiet for a 90mm piped exhaust. My only beef with it is the big ass pre-muffler (whish is technically a whole muffler). My shit is all getting more and more beaten up.
I've had Blitz nur spec, GP Sports, Buddy Club II, generic N1 style Ebay exhaust and Apexi GT Spec. Buddy club gave me a fucking migraine after having it for a almost a year.

3.75" Piping seems a little much, I think I'm gonna go with a Greddy down pipe & Ti-C, But is the down pipe & cat-back all i need to delete the cat and be done or do i need a test pipe too?

What car is this for? In S14s, the "cat" looking thing is actually hollow. So if you have an S14, you dont really need it. If anything, find the cheapest downpipe you can get, invest on a flex pipe and have an exhaust shop install the flex pipe into the DP and extend to connect straight to the exhaust. Thus eliminate the need for a test pipe and protect your manifold when your exhaust bottoms out.
Honestly, I'm thinking of checking out the ISIS twin 4" tips...reminds me of fence pipes. But then again, I'm too old for that shit...

well I'm not going to try to push the subject, but it's only an extra 200. And is far better. I'm guessing you have never held a full titanium if you don't think the weight savings is that much. You can pick up a full ti with one finger if you balance it right. But to each there own. I would go with HKS out of your choices. I just feel it's a better over all company.

well I can get the Greddy cat back and DP for $890, a titanium exhaust for like +1500... i most deff can save that 600$ to use on other stuff weight reduction is a lot cheaper then having to buy a titanium exhaust, i would only buy that if i had a legit track car and i had every single thing gutted n it was the last weight reduction option. I also feel like his is the best but i don't think Greddy is much worse.

Ive had my HKS hi power for a few years now on s14 with a sr. Near perfect fitment imo. Not super loud. My only gripe about it is that the old version like i have sits pretty low, but i think there is a newer version out now that gives more ground clearance (pretty sure anyway)

I got a Ti-C, love the sound on it. Very deep tone and more quiet than a high-power. One of the quietest exhausts i've heard with an SR. I had it on my KA too back then and even then it sounded very very nice but louder. The weird thing is with the KA it stuck out very nicely but after i put my SR in it sits behind my rear bumper wtf? Anyone know why? Maybe my exhaust mani? The fitment is really good and doesnt hang that low. I'd say average. However if you really want good sound and an exhaust that really tucks high then get the BC spec 2. I traded my old one for my Ti-C but now i want another. Good luck

If you think its too loud on youtube...its 10x louder in real life. Buddy club is basically a straight pipe with a tiny resonator on it. If you want a quiet exhaust, look for something that atleast have a pre-muffler and an actual muffler.

I don't even like the heated tip but i dnt really care lol. But i don't think i could notice low end - high end torque differences over just an exhaust, i feel like a 3" exhaust, is a 3" exhaust how can there be much difference.

Not looking to buy my exhaust set-up for another 2 weeks, But i think both exhausts sound pretty good its a hard decision but I'm still leaning toward the Greddy. Only other exhaust that might be able to change my mind if someones got a good review on the Apexi N1 since that exhaust would save me $100 over the Greddy.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but have you looked into a Buddy Club Spec III ? it has a 4" tip and it sounds really good. I've only had it on a idle then started working on my car. sit's a tad low, but I had old useless rubber hangers and have since upgraded to circuit sports ones.

[which isn't really a plus but i don't really care about Loud-ness so whatever] And the Hks has a bigger canister [ which is going to end up being closer to the floor making some driveways a little annoying, And the Tip is also bigger.
Sound is okay, it's of course a lot better behind a turbo than when I had my KA. It's my first (and only) exhaust so far but it's holding up well for over a year now, fitment is pretty tucked and only scrapes if I'm not a little careful going over speedbumps and such on a moderately low S14. I had actually debated between the Ti-C, the Blitz Nur-Spec, and the Apexi Noir because I didn't want something rice can looking, but ended up getting the Ti-C because I got sort of a deal on it. Remember now that GReddy discontinued the Ti-C a couple months ago, and their new model comes with the SS tip. Hopefully this'll enable me to sell my Ti-C in several months for a 200% markup ^_^
Coincidentally, I also have the GReddy downpipe which I heard is discontinued now as well. Paired up with a Circuit Sports test pipe, it came up short so I had to use a 3" flange to fill the gap :-/

Idk who you told you that discontinued stuff, i haven't seen the Ti-C on any website for sale without a titanium tip. but yeah hopefully it fits good if not i can just get a custom test pipe fabricated.

I haven't looked into buddy club spec 3, people in this threat mention spec 2, which is really loud, i just tried looking up spec 3 on youtube and could only find it on an S2k and an STI and they both also sound really loud. I also don't really know anything about "buddy club" as a company as i do very reputable companies like Greddy & HKS
Forgot about Buddy Club Spec 3s, I'd consider it. It has to be quieter than the ver 2 just cuz this one has an actual muffler on it. The real advantage of Buddy Club over all other exhaust is the slip on design. Theres no flange that gets smashed up in the middle.
About the Blitz Nur...would I need to get a down pipe, or can I just get the whole exhaust?
All exhaust are only Cat-back. Downpipe is before the cat, so they're seperate.

that is why I suggested it. it has a resonator and muffler on it, slip on, solid mounting points and when I compared it to my buddy's 3 inch the mounting points raised the exhaust up on the buddy club
if pics be needed I can get some, I took my exhaust off to work on my car a bit and just haven't put it back on

i have an hks can welded to an ebay 3inch straight pipe to an ebay 3inch downpipe to the stock manifold on an s14 sr.
it sits high and sounds great, not loud unless you wanna be loud.
i think if money is a factor and you want quality, go with an ebay catback with no resonator and buy your greddy or hks can and get that welded on, i mean there really is no difference in the piping to the can, the quality is in the can

i don't think there is a leak, the exhaust just hangs really low in the middle

heat the pipe up and bend it away from ground, or where it looks like it should be angled up more, cut the pipe through half way with a hacksaw or until you can bend the pipe till the cut closes up, and weld it closed.
low problem solved
and still got doe
