Strut question..

my buddy bought tokico hp blues off ebay and put them on his 240 about 6 months ago. yesterday he wanted me to take them off and put stock ones on.. well this is a dumb question, but after i took the spring off should the shock automatically keep itself extended? i mean this shock just didn't move. if you push it all the way in, thats where it stays... is it busted? or is that what the shock does?

may or may not be.....but last time i checked the Tokico HPs are a rebound style strut.

Some brands of shocks/stuts (Koni's have a style)do not rebound...since the idea of the strut is to dampen the shock itself...and not for ride height.

why did he want to take them off? iv heard some people say they arnt good and the blow easy. Is this true? did they really suck that bad?

the original shocks were blown (126K on the car),so he was going to get springs also (not enough money for both), but decided to sell the car. however, he wanted to sell the blues seperatly to get some extra money
