I JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT AN 89 STOCK NISSAN 240SX HATCH AUTO TRANS. (SINGLE CAM) :( AND I'VE BEEN USING IT ONLY AS A DAILY DRIVER , WELL JUST RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN ACTING STRANGE ON ME EVERY TIME I TRY TO START THE CAR UP IT JUST DOESN'T START UP I HEAR IT CRANK BUT I HAVE TO STEP (PUMP) ON THE GAS PEDAL A COUPLE OF TIMES (FULL ACCELERATION) WHILE CRANKING FOR IT TO START SOMETIMES IT WONT EVEN START AT ALL AND WHEN IT DOES IT TENDS TO IDLE ROUGH AND THE ENGINE WILL BEGIN TO KNOCK RANDOMLY THEN ONCE THE ENGINE WARMS UP ILL DRIVE IT AROUND AND WHEN I GET TO A COMPLETE STOP THE ENGINE WILL BEGIN TO JUST ONCE AGAIN START KNOCKING AND IT'LL JUST FEEL LIKE THE ENGINE STARTS KICKING LIKE A QUICK BUMP , I ALSO NOTICED THE RPM METER ON THE CLUSTER STOPPED WORKING ?? I'VE TAKEN MY 240SX TO A SO CALLED NISSAN EXPERT HERE IN SOCAL I WONT SAY THE NAMES OF THE SHOP BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE A CLUE MAYBE TO LAZY TO TRY I DUNNO ? THE CAR HAS BEEN RECENTLY SERVICED, FULL-TUNE UP, I REALLY NEED HELP OR POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION OF A GOOD HELP FULL PROFESSIONAL OR KNOWLEDGEABLE SHOP OR INDIVIDUAL WHO CAN HELP ME , I WOULD TRY TO FIX MYSELF BUT I DON'T HAVE A GARAGE OR TOOLS WERE I STAY AT , ALSO I'VE BEEN THINKING OF DOING A 5SPD TRANS ENGINE SWAP (SR20 RED TOP) IS IT LEGAL HERE IN CALIFORNIA? First, Your caps lock hurt my eyes.. Why do you have to type in all caps? Do you think someone will like, read your text louder in their brain? Its just obnoxious.. Like really really fucking obnoxious.

Anyway, Your issue can be a whole boatload of things and we need more information, Without caps lock.
It wont really matter what we tell you because you wont fix it yourself anyway.
So you need to find a good shop in your area. I can refer you to a shop in Riverside that will have it fixed no problem, but that's a pretty far drive for you.
Do you have a check engine light?
Is it smoking?
Could be
-Fuel pump
-Coil
-Spark plugs
-Wires
-Timing
-leaky injectors
-Clogged idle air control valve
-Bad or dirty maf
-Some random sensor unplugged
-Using caps lock on zilvia.net
Endless list.

Oh and a SR20 swap at a shop is like 2500-3500 if i remember correctly.

Check your oil... Does it smell like fuel? If so possibly leaking injectors and the reason it's knocking. The fact that you have to hold the pedal down all the way for it to start is a sign of to much fuel.

Is that because the fully open TB allows enough air to sort of create a decent afr?

So sorry about. The caps lol didn't know it was such a huge deal but anyway , yes if u can pls I don't mind the drive as long as they can fix the problem I need my 240Sx to be running like new while I save up for that swap ! Just hope. This shop u talk about don't rape me like the last one did ! Also I am thinking of setting my 240sx with some new wheels I really like the new xxr 531 , 16x8 4 lug , just don't know what offset I should go with ? I want that fresh deep lip look but don't want crazy camber when I slam the car I understand that I may need to roll the fenders a bit but don't want like 2 inches of wheel and tire sticking out lol also if u know where they can do an Sr20 swap for 2500 let me know. Where I will do it ASAP ! Thxs

Oh no engine light on I had it for a while but I fixed it when I replaced the o2 censor I used a new denso o2 censor so no check engine light on
