I need new tires for my daily wheels for the S14.
Looking at the Falken FK-452 and the Dunlop Direzza DZ101.
Anyone had experience with both? Preference?
What do you like?

Dunlops.
Bigger tread blocks = less delam. Love those tires.

Friend of mine auto-x's an S2000, used to auto-x his G35. He & most of the other competitors run the Direzza Star Specs bc they have an awesome combo of great traction, life, & price. Star Specs all the way. Make sure Star Specs bc iirc Dunlop sells regular Direzzas & Direzza Star Specs.

both are pretty good tires however i think the dz101 is a bit better probably a little softer too.
for daily use i think the fk's will be fine though.

agreed.
its sad actually, when i see threads about tires i automatically assume either HPDE or drifting and get caught up in description lol

Both tires are pretty comparable. Just FYI, falken just came out with the FK453. I'm not sure if they are for sale yet though.

Just a warning on DZ-101s... their sidewalls suck. Every DZ-101 I've run into and dismounted for people have had bubbling in the sidewalls. And these are on non-stretched or barely stretched applications.

My Dunlop Z1's did that as well.

So you wouldnt recommend the Dunlops for a stretched application then?

I wouldn't recommend the DZ101s for any application. I ran 255s on my 9.5s and on my 10.5s without any bubbling however.

I just switched to S drives from the DZ101.
The S Drive is superior in almost every situation. Dry, wet, noise, braking. It's crazy.
However, I just noticed that they are TERRIBLE in cold weather. I know they are summer tires, but the DZ101 were okay in cold. These are really bad.

LTR. DZ101 =/ Z1 SS

I've had a Z1 bubble on me before. DZ101s are a hit and miss for sure. They're not particularly phenomenal IMO

Are you going to use these occasionally for fun time? Are you stretching? Is it cold where you live? If yes to either of these, I'd get the FK452
If you're not going to use them for performance driving and just DD I'd get the FK452 either way.

I went with the FK452's. I've been running them in the front for 3 years or so, and seem to have held up really well. I'm DTF for Falken.

I got some dz101s, 225/40 on a 9.5. Probably have a couple thousand miles on them by now.. no issues so far. Got them for like 200 bucks.
