sr20det cam cap (marking order)

cam caps came out of order while replacing my head gasket. I noticed there are marking on the top of each cam cap. Does anyone know the order/picture etc via markings on top of cams. or car to look for me, Please help thanks

I have them out and in order now I'll check later tonight mine is a 96 180sx blacktop so I dont know if that would make any difference

it should be marked with an e for exhaust and i for intake. also a number. number one being the closest one to the timing belt.

on mine they all have a arrow pointing towards the front, the first in last ones dont have any numbers on them then the middle are marked 2,3,4 with 2 being the second from the front, and then the intake ones also have a I on them

mind doesnt have any number markings on them except for "I" for intake side..

Depends on the year of the motor. The old s13 motors dont have numbers on them, they have dotted markings on them, they should Have an I for intake though. The exhaust ones if i remember right dont have an E

If you have the newer motors like they said the middle caps are numered and the #5 caps are different as they have the oiling rails that go onto them so you should be able to tell the difference. I believe the end ones are wider too if im not mistaken. I know on the fwd sr's the end ones are wider and different since we have the distributor mount on the back end of the exhaust cam.

The ve motors are nice as they have numbers and labeled I and E and have the arrow. You cant possibly screw VE ones up unless your stupid.

no, number that's forsure, the intake has an "I" but the exhaust has nothing. I am talking about the very small markings, i thought they may signify the order. Does anyone know?

They do signify the order, You will have to find someone who still has theirs in order to put the correct ones back where they were originally from.
