This is a stock S13 steering rack that I FULLY converted to a manual rack. All internal seals are removed, the rack gear piston has been removed, and all ports have been plugged. The rack was then powdercoated black for a nice clean look. Steering effort is surprisingly easy with this setup and it's definitely way better than a non-converted rack without P/S. This rack has 0 miles on it since being assembled. It was only mounted on the car to keep it a roller.

..would this be a logical buy if I were to use it for drifting or no?

As stated below, that's all preference. Steering feel will be much improved and you will not have the slow re-centering of the steering typical of 240's. The downside is that steering effort will be a bit more. I don't think it's bad at all and would be willing to daily, drift, or track this setup if I still had a 240.

I wouldn't really be interested in any 240 parts. BMW parts or universal type parts (seats, steering wheels, batteries, etc...) I would be interested in though...
