s13 running /w key out! help!

ok, my friend has a s13 1993 240sx with a rebuilt ka24de. she parked the car today and when she turned the key to off and pulled it out, her car was still running. she freaked out and jumped in the car. with the key out of the ignition, she managed to put the car into first and drive foward and bit, and then put it in reverse and drive it backwards a bit. the wheel was locked. she finally turned off the car by disconnecting the battery. any insight into this problem would be much appreciated! thanks in advance!

edit: cmon somebody has to know something about this? my friend is poor! help plz.

get a replacement ignition switch

I'd say more likely it's a bad relay. I could be wrong, but I really doubt all that current to drive the engine is going through the ignition switch; and while the ignition switch could eventually fail, I suppose, it seems more likely to me that a relay would go bad first.

last time i saw this problem it was because the key would turn backwards although inside the switch the contact was still made

something was worn out. It was a dodge shadow or something

Hmm, hadn't thought about that possibility. Good thinking :)
