Sup Zilvia! I'm Jeff. I've been a member on this forum for some time now reading and researching as much as I possibly could on my time off while I was deployed twice to Iraq from 08-11 with a year break in between deployments. I have a 1989 240sx that I bought from Ebay on my first deployment. I blew the Sr that was in the car in the first 2 weeks. At that time I decided that I would go all out and fully build my next SR/S13 with the hopes of this being the last time.
I'm on my last few months In that Army and plan on going to school and working at my good friends shop RTR Performance in Killeen, Tx. I'm currently stationed @ Fort Hood and really enjoy Texas so I've decided to stay here after my contract with the army is over. Enough about me for now if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I just got my car back from North Carolina 2 weeks ago and I have started the tearing down and re-building from ground up. Here is a little list about what I have now:

Engine:
S13 Redtop
Darton Sleeves 90mm
CP Pistons (Coated)
Eagle H Beam Rods
ACL Race Bearings
ARP Main/Rod Bolts
Cosworth 1.1mm Head Gasket
Supertech Dual Titanium Valve Springs and Retainers
Tomei Rocker Arm Stoppers
JWT S4 Cams
Valve Job/Port-Polish
PowerLab TwinScroll Manifold
PowerLab Downpipe/Dumptubes
Dual Tial MS-V 38mm
GT3071r TwinScroll Turbo
Mazworx Turbo Lines
Apexi Power Intake
Walpro 255lph
Blitz FMIC
Mishimoto X-line Radiator
Mishimoto Thermostat
Mishimoto Silicon Lines
Shuriken 14lbs Battery

Drivetrain:
Spec Stage 1 Clutch Kit
Spec Billet Steel Flywheel
Circuit Sports Clutch Pivot
Z32 n/a VLSD

Suspension/brakes:
Megan racing track series coilovers (500mi on them but I will eventually go with a koni setup)
SPL Solid Subframe bushings
SPL Solid Diff. bushings
Z32 N/A Uprights W/SPL Bearings
DefSport/Skullworks Willwood kit Front
300zx Rear Calipers

as you may notice from this list there is alot missing but as the build goes on I will be ordering things I need/want.

This is my 4th s13 and he main purpose of this car will be to have the 240sx I always dreamed of. I have been a street racer for the longest time and I'm ready to get into some real racing. Road course racing/Time Attack to me is the funnest of all types of racing so that's what will be the main focus of the build though I would like to try some drifting I believe at the end of this build and all the money I put into it I will be to worried of crashing.

This is the car when I was driving it from NC to Texas about 2 weeks ago

This was day one of having the car back in my hands. Pulled the motor and removed the front end.

Further stripping down of the engine bay. Ac/heat will be removed completely from car. Custom Wire harness with Mil spec. Harness connectors mounted on fire wall (hardware will be here tomorrow for that) I'm doing the best possible tuck on the engine bay as well.

Gutting of the interior started.

Dry iced the sound deadening out of the car. If I had to guess it was about 40lbs saved...really a simple job and only cost $23.00 for dry ice.

The spare wheel well was pretty much the only badly rusted part of the whole car so I cut it out and used the some metal from the hood to cover it haha.

Subframe dropped with a shot of the SPL solid bushing/diff bushings/Spherical's. I drove to SPL in Austin yesterday to pick them up. Pat was a really cool guy who stopped what he was working on to put together the kits for me. Not cheap but I think its worth it in the long run.

Went to the junkyard today and lucky me I found 2 Z32na's 1 Z32TT and 1J30, unfortunately the J30 was not a pre 01/94 so I couldn't use the axles from it for my Z32 diff swap :/ but I did get these goodies

When I got back from the junkyard I swapped diff covers and cleaned it up. Both the subframe and diff painted. tomorrow I will be getting the bushing pressed in and the aluminum uprights cleaned up and ready for the spherical bearings.

Thanks!

I had the day off for MLK so I went to work. I pulled out the remaining items of the A/c from inside the firewall. I also got all of the spl pro bushing pressed into the uprights, subframe, and diff.

Looking good! What numbers are you expecting to push with the SR23?

I'm not going for a dyno queen. I'm going for a quick spooling motor with good mid-rage power. That's why I went with the 3071 over the 76. With the lager displacement and it being twin scroll I'm hoping to hit full boost of about 19psi around 3.5-3.7k, with HP maxing out around 475whp...I haven't fully decided but I think I will also be running E85. There is one gas station about 5 miles from the shop that sells it. I will make that decision come time to put the motor back in the car.

Looks really good man. You should definitely hit me up when I get back to the states. Ill be living in Kempner. Im currently in Afghanistan as a contractor right now. Ill be back home in Texas for two months in May and June before returning. Im currently in the middle of building my 800+whp drag b13 SE-R w/ a Mazworx sleeved and stepped SR20VE block and all the goodies, VE head with goodies and so on.

Didnt know Killeen had any performance shop now. I used to live there from 02 to 05 and my wife and I just moved back and there was a performance parts store on Veterans Memorial but that was it. No actual shop and it was pretty lame. Hows the shop and do they have a dyno or anything like that? Again before Killeen/Copperas Cove/Kempner/Temple had nothing for performance shops. I just bought and did all my own stuff and builds anyways but still.

Should definitely hook up when I get back. Id like to see your build and maybe you can check out mine.

Good choice on headgasket, Im a big cosworth hg fan and used it on my last build and was making around 650whp on a t67 h.o. and went over a year on a 550whp 60 trim turbo setup at 30 lbs of boost. I hope you dont plan on using ARP head studs. If so I would ditch them and go with a set of Mazworx ARP 2000 material head studs for your build. Your head wont go anywhere, it wont distort the block because they are proper studs that bottom out in the block and it wont strip the threads in the block either and cause head lift at 450whp which ive seen happen all too many times. The old ARP's are junk and not designed properly.

If you want any other tips on building the SR hit me up. Ive been building SR's for 10 years now and have done many many sr swaps in 240's both 13's and 14's, stock swaps to 350+whp built motors.

I've been pretty slow on updates due to doing all the necessary things I need to do to finalize my contract with the army, but I have been busy working on the car at nights. I have learned from what I have accomplished so far that you should always expect things to go a lot slower then anticipated and to add several months to your expected finish date due mainly to back orders and unexpected problems.

Since my last post I've decided that I wanted to paint all of my suspension components gold just to give the under body a little flair. So here is my rear subframe, arms, and sway bars painted.

And here is a picture of them installed with my 300zx N/a diff. btw If I would have know hard difficult it is to find the 5 bolt J30 axles that I need to work with this diff I would have deff. went another route -__-

I sent my 300zx rear calipers out to get powder coated wrinkle red and I think they turned out great.

So then I got started on the engine bay. On this build I wanted to do pretty much everything on the car myself including paint which I have 0 experience in. we don't have a paint booth or any of the needed tools and supply's to do an official paint job at the shop where I'm working so I started searching for a spray can alternative. I came across a paint in a can made by Big Daddy Roth called "Roth Bombs" It is freaking awesome. Its automotive quality paint, flake, and candy in a can. Not cheap at all at about $17.00 a can my total engine bay cost me about 250.00 to paint including primer and clear. The clear I used is a 2 part clear that can be wet sanded and buffed which I was too scared to due but It still shines like crazy. The color I went with is called Cherry Pie. I did 2 coats of each primer-base-flake-candy-clear. BTW these Iphone pictures and the fact that it is not in the sun does this paint no justice at all.

Last minute before I decided to put the motor in I came across a product that looks cool and will will be functional for my fire wall. Its a Gold Racing reflective film made by HRP. Since I removed all the heat and sound deadening on the inside of the firewall I figured this would be a great light weight product to keep my legs from roasting. I bought 36x24" of it and it cost me about 100 bucks. pain in the ass to not get wrinkles but with the unevenness of the firewall it was inevitable. The heater and ac holes were covered but me tacking sheet metal on the backside btw.

Next up....Installing the motor. I dropped the transmission to do this sooo much easier this way. Installed the Spec clutch and flywheel combo and the Circuit Sports engine and tranny mount kit. and put her in the cherry picker.

The rest of my Budget Baller kit came in! So excited. I sent the front calipers to get powder coated also but they have not came back yet :/
**Also DEF If you read this..When I push one of the rotors on (already set up with hat) It teeter totters a little bit doesn't fit flush. I haven't put any lugs on it yet to see how it tightens down but is this normal?

Though this will be primarily a track car I do plan on going to car meets/shows just to try to get some trophies haha. this is my first full build and the only time I have ever had the money to dump into a project car. So I will have the bay tucked and have a bunch of Blingy stuff going on I'm sure there are alot of you that will think its dumb to waste the money on and non functional but hey its what I want. Remote battery terminals installed. and front mount mocked.

On order is the Fuel cell, lines, fittings, rail, FRP, Catch can set-up, and Power steering lines and reservoir (chase bays), and oil cooler set up, and intercooler piping. 2 major hold backs for me right now are the J30 axles and the Z32 coilover sleeves for my megans to run the z32 uprights (back order untill end of march)

Thanks for looking and any positive or negative criticism will be appreciated.

Yeah I thought it looks pretty cool to but I did it mainly to keep down heat transfer from bay to cabin since I removed all the heat barrier on the inside of the fire wall for weight loss. Thanks

I bought that clutch kit almost 2 years ago before I decided to go big on the build. I should be just under their torque ratings but if it doesn't hold I'll just upgrade no biggie.
