View Full Version : Sometimes I wish I had a civic

sometimes I wish I had a civic because it has so much aftermarket support, not for gay lights and stupid loud exhausts, but for the engine and drivetrain support. every time i flip through magazines i see all these cool engine parts for dirt cheep and then i see there all for a civic. then i think of its name, reputation, what "civic racers" make them look like, and and sheer slowness (if thats not a word, it is now) and thats what makes me feel good about the good 240, with its monsterous 2.4L 4cyl, rwd, and nicer body styling all under the nissan name.

Unfortunately Integras are in the same boat. That's a big part of the reason that I didn't buy another Honda and instead got my bad ass 240. Now I own on Integras all day long.
Hopefully I won't run in to a heavily modded one and get spanked <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

well... what would you rather have anyways.... a Tenzo R sticker on the side of your car or a Cusco sticker??
It all comes down to the simple fact that our engines don't NEED all the crap available for Hondas.... like, who's used a block guard, girdle, or sleeves (plus pistons and rods) on a KA just to get to say... 400hp??

The point is that a lot of the companies that make Honda parts have only just tried to jump on the import bandwagon... would you rather have a company name that only tried to bite off of other companies or the real thing?? If you prefer the latter, you don't really need to worry about a lack of a zillion aftermarket parts companies.

LoL... down to basic math... Cusco makes stuff for Honda.... so do a million other parts manufacturers of lesser quality.
Cusco makes stuff for Nissan... but a million lesser manufacturers don't.
Conclusion: we still get all the better stuff anyways. You only need to worry about having a Honda-type backing if you want the lesser quality stuff.

Yeah, but when Nissan parts start being supplied.
Are ppl, going to start buying the lesser price stuff ?
p.s. My point is still that Honda owners can get quality parts.

I think you guys are a little confused about aftermarket 240 support. I can open a hyper rev or or my Rev speed book on the 180SX and name over 20 manf. that make coil overs for the 240. The 240 is the most popular car in Japan and has backing from every major manf there

the problem is.... that support is for the SR. How many cast turbo manifolds are there for the KA.... let's see... 1. And it isn't even all that. For the chassis... yea there's stuff available.. but not easily available. People are basically complaining that our parts are harder to get I guess.
And Kid Zelda... I know they make quality parts for Hondas. My point is there's less lower quality product available for the 240.

Ok, what kind of support do you need? I didnt think having a huge variety of turbo manifolds was that importent? If you have a turbo kit on your KA at street levels, I dont think you're really gonna be worrying about that. If you want something really special, get it done custom. As far as difficulty to get parts, im in S CA so thats not really an issue here. But if you want them bad enough and you have the money then im sure you'll find a way. Check out TakaKaira.com, they have a good amount of performance shit for the 240.

I've always wanted a 98 GSR. Just throw in a mean suspension setup (Tein coilovers or Skunk2 or Ground Controls with a really nice set of stocks, some strut bars, sway bars), some engine work (Skunk2 stuff and Type R parts), a racing seat, a custom stainless steel exhaust with a stock looking tip, Japanese one-piece front end with a stock lip, sitting on 15" whatever wheels that are lighter than stock (Spoon, Mugen vs. Rota, whatever, I'd rather spend that money on a set of Recaros or more engine parts, I don't give a shit about losing 10lbs from wheels). Then go wingless. Nice, simple, clean, fast, and handles like an Italian sports car.
...too bad I can't afford one. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
