im in the middle of my tranny swap when i notice a major leak out of the right boot on the steering rack...i was wondering what i should look for or what may be the problem?
another question is can i drive it like that with out damaging anything PS related? i want to drive my car later today when im done with the swap, and i dont want to ruin something else...
just looking for a heads up or whatnot...
thanks

Same thing happened to me. Actually I haven't fixed it yet. My mechanic told me that I should ultimately replace the whole steering rack but driving it with a leak will still be ok. It will just become worse with time. I can already feel it harder to steer, compared to my friend's '93. I'm just gonna leave it alone for now, I'm planning to do away with p/s anyway.

so its ok to drive it without any fluid in there? i mean its not a small drip drip, it was a small stream coming out...
actually it started happeneing when i was turning my rotors/wheels by hand on the actual rotors themselves side to side (do i make any sense?) any idea on what may be the problem?

If you want to drive the car later today, remove the power steering pump belt...running the PS pump without PS fluid can damage it.

wait mine is just a small leak, there is still fluid in there, it's just a tad bit tougher to turn than my friend's car.
