Anyone seen this? It actually doesn't look too bad, and I imagine it'd stay in the $20k price range.

I did a search on this, and didn't really come up with anything, but I have a feeling this might be kind of old news.
Any thoughts?

yes sir that is correct, and its not really a mazda concept. I hope the new miata comes w/ the rotary, that would be pimped:D

It looks the same except it's a hard-top.

I think it'd look better as a hatchback (fastback, the sloping kind like the 240, not like a civic). The miata is pretty short, so making it into a coupe makes it look kinda funny. Would look hot with a sloping rear end though, IMO.

I think it would look pretty cool in the m-coupe/euro hatchback kind of way.

thats not the new miata. why would they make a concept that looks the same as the one thats been out for years. I saw a pic of the new "miata" in some magazine, either importtuner, or super street or something.

i dunno if that's the new miata... i saw a concept version of the miata called the 'ibuki,' it hard sharper lines in going with todays styling trends. i also heard the miata was a testbed for a new rx-7... that would be one car that could make me forget the 240.

About this car and the 'new Miata'...

This is only being shown as a concept in the USA. In Japan this is a production model. Note that the car shown is RHD. Just another tasty JDM morsel we'll never get, at least not in this form. Could be hinting at a production Miata coupe for the USA in the next generation.

The Mazdaspeed Miata based on the current chassis WILL see production, and like the Mazdaspeed Protege, it will just be a Miata with a low boost bolt-on turbo kit fitted from the factory and off the shelf suspension upgrades. They've already shown this car around a bit. Expect it sometime in 2004.

The next generation Miata is still mostly up in the air. They want to use the MZR series four cylinder engines (same as the 3 and 6). They want to make it slightly larger, possibly based on the RX-8 platform. I'm not sure when it's due.
