I started school on Monday over at De Anza College and decided to enroll in Development Psychology. Psychology is a crazy ass subject, talking about how the brain works, how we are who we are, and we are influenced when being brought up in society.

My professor is some funny ass white guy, has a Masters in Psych and 3 other subjects. It's like a damn comedy act in there, but we still learn a bunch.

Today, he mentioned lucid dreaming, a term I've heard before but never done research on. He talked about his first dream in high school, how he woke on a sidewalk in New York City, while in his dream. In his dream, there is no apparent lapse in consciousness, so he's pretty much in his dream but he's awake, so he can make decisions as if hes awake. He said that he ran down Broadway though a crowded street, and just jumped in the air and decided to fly, which he did. He said the sensation was as if he was really flying. Later in that dream, he was on a date with his girlfriend at a lakehouse, and though he'd take her for a flight when her on his back. He ran down the dock and jumped, and faceplanted into the floor. In the morning, he realized, flying=free, with her on his back= not free. He broke up with her that next morning.

People who are experienced in Lucid Dreaming, "dreamer yogis", spend 100 years (and it actually feels like 100 years) in a lucid dream, in one night of sleep.

This shit is crazy. Ever since I got out of class, I've been thinking about it and how surreal it sounds to live in another world where you can do what ever you want. Just wanted to see who else has had experience with lucid dreaming?Any crazy stories?

Sorry for the long ass rant. I'm kinda lifted.:eek3d:

I lucid dream from time to time but my speciality is astral planning. I get it from my dad:) i once had a dream about 7 months before that I was in Wa on my first day in HS. I met up with a Guy named Raymond and we became friends. When i woke up, i wrote it in one of my notebooks and thought nothing of it until 7 months later everything happened the way it did in the dream to the T. When i met Raymond, i told him who he was before he introduced himself haha!

Another time is when i saved myself from getting my ass jumped by saying something...same thing, couple months out, didnt think about it and wrote it down, and sure enough it happened BUT i didnt.say the trigger word that caused my ass to get kicked lol! Its weird, its like i can control my future to an extent...just wish if i could find out if imma be successful or not later on in life lol!

ive had 2 lucid dreams in my life,.........and yeah,......shit is ridiculous.

long story short, i shot some trick in the face with a shotgun and she burst into a million coins, and at that very moment i realized,..this shit aint real,. im totally dreaming! Then idk why flying was the first thing i did,.....but it was amazing as shit!.....lol

just a few weeks ago, i was about to get destroyed by the king of the fuckin jungle,...then realized i was dreaming,..and was so excited i woke up,...i was so pissed...lol

been hoping to pull this off again,. so i can bust out one of those machines they use in inception to go into a dream. see if i can go deeper....lol

I do it a lot at work.

Fall asleep at my desk, wake up in a darkened office, and go fuck around with the people outside.

I have lucid dreams fairly regularly. Every time that moment comes when i realize I'm dreaming, that dream pretty much turns into a crazy porno. "I'm dreaming, RAD. Fuck ALLLLL the fine girls!" It's pretty cool.

I dream future events pretty often, too. It's never anything important, though. For example, I'll dream that I'm walking down the street with a friend, and a rare car drives by, and we both say, "Oh, cool." Then a few months later, it happens for real, right down to the very last detail. Same friend, same clothes, same conversation, same street, same car of the same color, etc etc.

I lucid dream a lot. I used to control the events but it would almost always turn pornographic and predictable so I stopped controlling them and let the events occur at random to surprise me. I'm trying to master continuing dreams from the previous sleep.

The key to lucid dreaming is a sleep journal as people have said.

I used to lucid dream a lot when I was pretty good with keeping a dream journal.

I haven't stayed on top of it, and since, have hardly been lucid dreaming, which sucks. Sometimes I can get into it, but I can feel myself being pulled out and waking up.

If I decide to fly, I can only do it for a short time before waking up. I find, the crazier shit I do, the shorter it lasts.

The only future dreaming I've done, is something that happens a few seconds into the future. For example I dreamt that something fell of my shelf. I woke up, and a few seconds later it fell off (on the other side of the room, so totally random).

there are many great books and resources to lucid dreaming and how to.

if researched well and practiced patiently, lucid dreams an be had at will pretty much.

when i was younger i dwelled a bit into the psychonautsub culture...
while yes alot of the mental and spiritual exploration is done through the use of hallucigens. But the core exploration of the self is done mostly by meditation, and "clean" trips and lucid dreaming.

Remember everybody, the physical plane is a four dimensional grid that we live in.
Our human brains and self can only fully percieve 3 dimensions, ofcourse we feel things from the fourth from time to time, but never really understand it or know why.

point bieng, explore the subjects. Life is too short to not take that personal journey into the self and the universe.... You realize how close we all are to not only each other but everything.....

wanna trip out?
that atom on your forehead, is the same atom that was on jupiters rings a million years ago. That atom on your thumb, well that atom is from a part of our universe 100 million light years away, and somehow ended up in your body. That atom in your hair, that atom once belonged to the most powerful sun ever known. We are all of the same cloth, and origin. Once you figure that out for yourself... i feel like you truly begin to live.

I never knew what this was until reading this. When I was younger I used to have nightmares until I realized that it was just that...a nightmare. Slowly I started controlling my dreams. Even to the extent that I could imagine what I wanted to dream about. The dreams aren't long...usually 30min to 2 hours in total time. Longest being around 4 hours (in dream land).

Flying was something I learned how to do when I was 10...also my fav thing to do once I realize i'm dreaming. Nightmares started at 6....

One of the favorites was falling asleep wanting to wake up as spiderman. It was pretty fucking cool webslinging around cities for 30 min. It always seems like I will wake up when running out of the dream.

Also will dream what is currently going on. Like if the TV is on, my mind will imagine what is going on...like transformers fight scenes....I remember running through cities with explosions going off left and right....not much memory of anything else.

very cool shit though. Now I want to read more about it.

Lucid dreaming is done by realizing youre dreaming...for me, its mostly colors like if a stop sign was painted any other color except red n white. I took a ride on the astral plane and met my great great great great grandfatherO_o. He didnt talk with his mouth but more like telepathically. He told me he was a slave and he tried to escape or something and they killed him for it...afterwards, he walked into a valley and the sun was setting and i havent heard from him since:( cool guy...definately got my nose from him lol!

This is what works for me. Keep a dream journal right next to your bed. I just make a note on my iPhone. As soon a you wake up go directly to it. Write as much detail as you can remember even if it is just emotion or colors. If you can't remember anything then write that. Each night before you go to bed, review your previous entries right before you sleep. Give it a couple of weeks and you will be Lucid dreaming.

How come it seemes like as soon as I realize I'm dreaming I wake up? Is it because I can't stay calm as soon as I realize it? Does getting startled cause you to wake up?

If you have interest in lucid dreaming, pick up the book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LaBerge and Howard Rheingold. LaBerge is actually the man who discovered lucid dreaming with scientific experiments.

For any one who wants to try lucid dreaming, the first step is to take in the knowledge. Go to your local library or pick this book up for $8 from Barnes and Noble. Without feeding your brain this info, your brain will not allow you to wake up in your dream.

Yea...you must stay calm and act nonchalant when you realize it. Easiest way is to try to alter your dream...start off small and work your way up. Im to the point where i can pause, fast forward and rewind my dreams. Now somehow with all this happening i tend to slip into the astral plane and fly to places that ive never been to O_O

i make notes every now and then about my dreams. Sometimes i dont even remember making some of them. But i'll google names and places that ive typed,..that ive never (as far as i know) heard of before, and the shit exists! Like a famous Jamaican actor was one for example...lol

Ah yes lucid dreaming. In the past, I've kept a dream journal and I was able to reach the lucid state after a couple of weeks. You will encounter strange things while dreaming. Soreballz you are not the only one who has dreamt of a future event. I've also had insanely vivid dreams that I think were some sort of vision since the same damn thing happens in real life the following day. Lucid dreaming is beyond awesome. In my opinion, its an out of body experience that cannot be compared to any psychedelic drug. For those of you who have never had a lucid dream, I encourage you to look into a dream journal. It takes some dedication but you will notice a difference in your dreams after day 1 of recording your experiences.

Great Thread....

What I have been trying to perfect for the past couple of years.....

Experience Teleportation. (here me out)

I catch myself living in a non dream. A reality, where I would be going about my life as normal. when boom! I catch myself living at a time and doing something that feels as if i had once done before. This feeling is weird in and of itself.... As for some reason my brain recognizes this point in my life, and tells me to acknowledge this exact time frame. Some might refer to this as DeJa Vu.... So I do and attempt to recount what had happened in the very moment from which I had once dreamt. At this point with those elements realized I try to blank everything out...Closing my eyes, in attempt to forcefully in vision what once was.....I try to push my inner self there...I try to somehow forcefully get back into the dream by meditating in deep thought and imagination creation.... I try to build layout around my thought and pass this off as a new space for which I have now entered....Essentially forcefully dreaming into a new space, while within a reality...Super deeep... I know but I feel like I'm onto something here as I feel like I'm able to hold time within my thought with my eyes closed for longer and longer.

The ultimate goal here is too hold to a point to which is so long...It blends and becomes reality.

My goal is to successfully transport my mind and let myself follow while standing and zoning out. In an attempt to bring my one fantasy into an actuality and continue as normal...

I would love to present this idea to a class but I'm no longer in school, would be cool if you printed this out for your professor to see if this has ever been discussed before...

Thanks for the dope thread..

Me too. I always get really spooked like it's about to be my last moment alive or some shit. I'm just sitting there waiting for a crackhead to bust in the door and shoot me in the face...a few moments go by, and people usually stare at me talking to me and I just kinda studder and go on with my life.

IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!!! ive had the whole dejavu happen to me...but i alwasy thought of it as just dejavu, not astral plaining since thats when it happened...in dreams not during the day...

Heres something to trip you guys out:

The feeling of deja vu is pretty much living an event that you already have...meaning that somewhere on the line of time, there is another you and that version of you just did something for you to remember with or without realizing it. Now with that being said, imagine all the shit you do and having that shit cause deja vu to another version of you....

From what i read, Astral Planning has the power to either travel to other places no matter what the location or travel through time. The more you train, the better you can be. Ive heard that this shit is based off of vibrations...if you can match vibrations with someone else, you guys can communicate and bad entities cant enter. Be careful out there when youre traveling

If you guys are serious about starting dream journals, there have been studies that say you should keep your eyes closed after you wake up to help remember your dreams.

I also have lucid dreams where I feel like I can control my surroundings.. but what if that's just our brain MAKING us think that we're controlling our dreams when we're really not?

Basically Activation-Synthesis Theory (your dreams are composed of random thoughts but your brain somehow assembles them in a way they make sense)
BUT our brains are TELLING us that WE are the ones controlling those thoughts?
whoa.

And I think the interpretation of that is more of a Freudian concept, rather than just "lucid dreaming."
manifest content (what happened in dream) : flew by myself, couldn't fly with girlfriend
latent content (meaning behind "what happened in dream") : the bitch is weighing me down, I need to kick her ass out to the curb.

Either way, I want to be able to fully control my dreams.. I feel like Professor X when I wake up!

Quick update:

Its been 7-8 months since I have had a dream (well we have dreams every night, we just dont remember them). After reading the book I got, I went to sleep the other night and made my subconscious believe that I would have and remember my dream that night. Well I had 2 dreams that night! And I had another 2 this morning! I have been recording it in a journal, and I am slowly improving my dream recall.

Its just a matter of days before I have my first lucid dream.

I dont dream of funky shit. Basically, if i cant do it in real life, I wont dream about it. So there goes flying dreams, walking underwater...that kinda shit. But what's weird about me is that I'd have a dream, but remember one segment of the whole dream. Like a 5-10 second window. I'd forget about it, then see it happen one day...basically a deja vu. If I just sit there and watch it, itll continue to as I remember it. But if I do something to stop it, then itll change and wont continue on.

I never had a lucid dream till I took Alpha Brain a great nootropic. With alpha brain you will have the dreams very often(almost once a week) and will be able to REALLY hold onto them and have fun. I recently won WW2 all by myself.

ok i got one.

im at some random school and Yngwie Malmsteen was having a show in the MPR. when i got there some middle aged chick was playin his set! (still shredding though) i ended up at this tattoo shop i used to work at and for some reason, my ex-girlfriend was tattooing somebody. she has 0 artistic talent IRL. so while she's tattooing, i turn to the owner and ask him why i was fired. instead of telling me, he goes straight into this story of a surgery that ruined his chest tattoos.

i really loved that job, and they just stopped writing my schedule. nobody could tell my why. i did everything right and spoke with respect to everybody.

we (myself and her) ended up in the front of my house just standing there. not looking at eachother or anything in particular and not saying a word. like an uneasy truce. at that point, my buddies pull up to my driveway and i get in the car and drive. from what i remember about my surroundings, there was an old oil tank and the rest was desert.

heres where it gets odd.

as we're driving through the desert, im thinking to myself "what am i doing here, where the fuck are we going?" and when i open my mouth to say "i need to go home" my tongue swells up and i go deaf. everybody in the car turns and stares at me but the car is still going forward. i cant speak or hear but i somehow explain that i cant go where they're headed and understand, clear as day, that they cant turn back. if i wanted to go home, i had to find my own way there.

my buddy, Chung, pulls over and i get out on the side of the desert road as they drive away and out of sight. i stood there for maybe 5 minutes before an old lady pulls up in a small pick-up truck and i get in without hesitation. neither one of us says a word but we both knew where we were going and where we needed to be.

my dream jumped to the old lady's kitchen. still deaf, tongue still swollen.

im sitting at her table while she's going through her cabinets when i heard her say "your grandma wanted you to have this, but i have to hurt you first." then she handed me something. i cant remember what it was because i immediately put it in my pocket. then i woke up.
my grandma passed in 03.

DS562, you need to find out what is in your pocket. You said she needed to hurt you first...how did she hurt you? Maybe it wasnt a physical pain but perhaps the pain of losing a loved one.

My name is Dylan. idk i havent really deciphered that much yet, today was my second day at my new job so my mind was elsewhere. as far as i've come up with is:

im at some random school and Yngwie Malmsteen was having a show in the MPR. when i got there some middle aged chick was playin his set! (still shredding though)

idk what the fuck this was about :)

i ended up at this tattoo shop i used to work at and for some reason, my ex-girlfriend was tattooing somebody. she has 0 artistic talent IRL. so while she's tattooing, i turn to the owner and ask him why i was fired. instead of telling me, he goes straight into this story of a surgery that ruined his chest tattoos.

maybe i need to confront my old boss.

we (myself and her) ended up in the front of my house just standing there. not looking at eachother or anything in particular and not saying a word. like an uneasy truce.

maybe i need to make peace with her, we did experience alot together and end in a BAD way.

at that point, my buddies pull up to my driveway and i get in the car and drive. from what i remember about my surroundings, there was an old oil tank and the rest was desert.

heres where it gets odd.

maybe im not meant for the same lifestyles they want to live. i hate the 9 to 5 life, it seems so bland and unfulfilling which is why im enlisting in september. we'll still be brothers, but we're headed in different directions.

the rest is a mystery wrapped in an enigma.

You guys are on some ol' Inception type shit.

I'm going to Amazon that Lucid Dreaming book. I found out that if I ever get hot during sleep, like too many blankets or the A/C is off, I have nightmares. I wonder if I could combat that with Lucid Dreaming, even not, I would love to be able to form dreams and what not, seems like lately I just sleep and wake up at the alarm, never really remember if I do dream or not.

For any of those out there really interested in this subject I have book that is a absolute must read. I consider this book to be part of my hidden knowledge.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51J48Q28NFL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

And here is where you buy it. Note how expensive the new ones go for. Also note that every review this book has is 5 star.

http://www.amazon.com/Lucid-Dreamer-Waking-Traveler-Between/dp/0671872486

P.S. I consider this book to be one of the most powerful books in existence. I also consider it to be a path to the "darkside" for those not capable of handling the experience.

It goes over the history of dreaming, the science and spirituality of dreaming, ancient practice and belief, and certain practices to achieve lucidity. Couple that with great writing with a scientific bias, funny anecdotal evidence and awesome art and you have a great book.
I can't stress it enough. I honestly think that if you are reading this post you should feel lucky and privileged to have had the chance of even owning this book.

i get deja vu too, a lot actually, and i dream and wake up in my dream swell, but when i take fat burners and or vitamin b6 or metabolism boosters, i trip out and can't sleep, as I'm starting to sleep, my thoughts won't stop, if i manage to start sleeping i immediately dream, but as the dream starts its dark and hardcore bad vibe, i hear shit, feel shit, its insane, i wanna say its like something is messing with me, its like right now thats why I'm not asleep lol.

This is interesting, I will look into it more. The vivid dreams i have usually have me out of the picture. I either die, and see the dream through some unknown medium, or sometimes i am seeing the dream through some one else's eyes, and never come into the picture.

I've had a few lucid dreams. One that was about as good as I could imagine it getting. I realized I was dreaming (I looked in a mirror and it didn't look right) and didn't wake up at all. The thought of 'what do you want to do' came into my head and I just said 'fly'. When that happened the whole building exploded that I was in and I was shooting through...well I guess it may have been the universe or something...but I was going incredibly fast and the sensation of flying was more emotional then physical, it isn't particularly describable, but it was amazingly positive.

I've had a few other realizations of being in a dream but the dreams collapsed (quite literally, they got super shakey and crumbled) and I either wake up or tumble into another dream without realizing.

I had another flying dream the other day but it was totally different as I didn't really realize I was dreaming. As I was deducing the situation I was in I got closer and closer to the ground and when I landed I realized I was dreaming and woke up.

If you've ever had a real lucid dream, like you can make ANYTHING happen on a whim, you'll definitely wake up in the morning and find it much easier to believe that our reality could simply be an illusion, or a dream on some grander scale.

I also ordered that book tonight off amazon (not new). I'm looking forward to checking it out.

You won't regret it. Just remember not to take it to seriously. Also to other posters. This thread is not about dream interpretation at all.

Dream interpretation is like numerology, or tarot cards. Complete bullshit.

Lucid dreaming is a scientific phenomenon. Readily reproduced in a laboratory that almost completely shatters the traditional ideas in the way we perceive and interact with reality.

I recently had a dream in which I woke up, realized I had been dreaming, wrote in my dream journal about said dream, got ready and went to class. Some time after that I actually woke up and was kinda pissed that I realized in my dream that I was dreaming but didn't do anything about it.

Holy Fucking shit. My friend told me about lucid dreaming in like junior year of high school. Ofcourse that kid was on shrooms literally and did a lot of drugs, but i thought that was some weird vodoo shit until about 6 months ago (estimated) that i recall having 2 dreams back to back. I was in the first dream and when i moved my head to look somewhere else, i tumbled into the next dream.

The first dream was just me standing in an oddly designed room. It was like a store. I remember a giant ass cake being used as a pillar to support the ceiling. I received a text message. The message was from my then ex girlfriend who i am currently dating right now. She asked to get back together; i declined and said I never wanted to see her again. After pressing enter on my iphone and puttng it in my pocket, I look up and i just remember the scene that i was looking at.

I turn my head and then get tumbled into another dream

All I remember about this dream is that I die. I do not know how, I just understand that my death occurs in this dream.

So randomly, my mother asks me to go to some bakery. It is located at an intersection I drive by daily, but I have never noticed what stores were in the shopping center. I was shocked kinda when she said that there was a bakery there. I go inside and order whatever my mom wanted. I receive a text and turn around. (My girlfriend and I literally Got back together on October 1st of last year, the date of me being at the bakery was October 4th)

This is the exact scene I saw in my dream
http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m575/apishmar/IMG_1063.jpg

Obviously I told my mom and my gf and my best friend but no one cared. I'm freaking out because I am expecting to get stabbed or something.

My mother also told me an interesting story. I have a cousin who has a toddler. When my mom went to go visit my cousins daughter, the little girl started reaching for my mom saying (in indian) "Mina, remember when you were little and I carried you all around (Some relative)'s house? You were such a fussy child but I still took care of you. Now it is your turn." Mind you that this is a really young child who just began speaking. My mother told me that the little girl gave very precise descriptions that neither my cousin nor her mother would know. This is slightly off topic but just thought I would share

I will go pick up the 2 or 3 books mentioned earlier, and try to investigate how I am supposed to die. I want to see if I can use lucid dreaming to open up some doors in my subconscience and get some answers. I just need to know how to think (ie figure out what kind of questions i should ask to get the answers i desire). Doesn't lucid dreaming have negative side effects though? I am positive that I read somewhere about people not being able to dream correctly or fear dreaming after some period of time. Or maybe I am thinking about Inception

i havent researched alot about it,. but the only negative experience to lucid dreaming that i came acrossed seem to be people 'dreaming their lives away'

Some dr.'s or psychiatrist did some studies to people that lost limbs or fingers and toes, and taught them how to dream lucidly,..where they can still feel the sensation of using the appendages,. running, jumping etc. But then these people just wanted to live their lives, dream by dream.

...and they teach people that have commonly reoccurring night-terrors to give it a try,..and control the mood of the dream

pretty fuckin crazy huh.

otherwise tho,. its not like ur consuming anything that would give you any sort of side effect, i guess its just how your wired up there.

I have had a few weird lucid dreams that I no longer remember but the past 3 nights I've somehow been getting stuck in a sleep paralysis stage because of lyme disease coming back, feeling restless, mixed with insomnia, but just laying there trying to sleep and I can't so I'd open my eyes to get up to get food since I couldn't fall asleep but I could not for the life of me move. Then I started seeing figures, and hearing noises (this was not the typical noises this shit was fucking demonic sounding.) I was stuck, unable to move, while these demonic looking/sounding figures were standing over my bed. The first night I thought I was having a heart attack, second night was a severe panic attack and last night was just freaking me out. I'm not sure if this has ANY relation to the out of body experience I had that was similar to it years ago, I was definitely awake, I was literally paralyzed but I was forcing myself to get up and somehow I got up and was able to walk around. When I looked at myself I looked normal but when I looked in the mirror I looked just like the black figures with the red eyes. Then I looked back at the bed and I was still laying there. SCARY AS HELL.

Also if you ever get sleep paralysis followed by an out of body experience GET BACK IN YOUR BODY. There have been people saying that the black shadow figures with red eyes have tried getting into their body until they went up to it and they ran away. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be something more spiritual and saying the black figures are people/spirits trying to find bodies or what really.

Whatever you do DO NOT follow what this post says this will give you the most horrible, vivid nightmares you will ever encounter. It recently popped up on 9gag after the first night of sleep paralysis.

I have had some lucid dreams. It mostly happens to me when I am having a nightmare and I realize that what is happening is so absurd that I must be dreaming.

I am not sure what its called but allot of times I will wake up from a nightmare and continue hallucinating for a few seconds even though I am fully awake. For instance, I will wake up bolt upright and look over in the corner of my room and see like a corpse or demon or whatever and freak the fuck out for a second before I come to my senses. Its actually really scary and looks so real...

I have also had ALOT of deja vu. I have always had issues with sleep walking especially when I was young. I don't think I sleep walk anymore but whos to say for sure.

Weirdest dreams of my life were when I was taking Larium (malaria preventative medication) it was like an acid dream in my sleep, I'm talkin full on driving down a road that turns into an elephants trunk type shit.

Anywho I have lucid dreams all the time, I love it... In addition I've found that I set my alarm for an hour or two before I actually have to get up and snooze every 10 mins it's like a million times better cus that 10 mins is like an eternity of dream time in my own personal funland. Plus since u really only remember like (what is in reality) only a few minutes of each dream it's a way to remember more of ur dreams. Oooh and if i don't wake urself up completely I can sometimes go back into the same dream, fuckin epic for those dreams with the supermodels and champaign :D

nevertheless

o man I have actually done that were I have willed myself back into a super good dream that I woke up in the middle of.

I just remembered the other lucid dreams that I get allot. It usually starts with me jumping somehow to extraordinary heights and realizing that this is ridiculous and just enjoying jumping around thousands of feet in the air like a superhero.. kinda silly but true

i seem to be able to take control of dreams when I realize that whats going on it so absurd that it can't be real

so after you guys make these dream journals, like after you write in them, do you go back and read them the next night before you go to sleep? or what?

sometimes i can control my dreams, but i don't really lucid dream or anything like that.

though sometimes while im sleeping, i can feel time passing in real life. makes for a long nights rest when you can feel 7 hours pass by.

i can also sometimes hear people around me in real life, talking while im asleep.

Ok, this is a very interesting post. I will try to break this down to everyone as simply as I can. I really believe you did see things standing over your bed that night. I believe you because it has allegedly happened to millions of other people as well. It's almost common occurrence actually. It's just not called Sleep Paralysis. There is another phenomenon that is closely related to sleep paralysis. Alien Abduction. No I am not kidding. Is been theorized that the majority of cases involving alien abduction are attributed to sleep paralysis. The symptoms are nearly identical. Sleep Paralysis symptoms include: Not being able to move Audible and visual hallucinations (often light, and humaniod figures) a feeling or seeing a menacing presence in the room a feeling of floating or a feeling of weight on your chest holding you down Alien Abduction Symptoms Not being able to move Audibly and visually seeing and hearing the intruders and them taking you(possibly hallucinations) Missing Time Feeling of a menacing presence. The feeling of floating or of being held down. If you are trying to induce lucidity i can almost guarantee you will experience Sleep Paralysis at one time or another. Also, out of body experiences are very closely related to Lucid dreaming. Astral Projection is also very closely related to Lucid dreaming. That's traveling without your body or traveling in the so called "spirit world". See guys Lucid Dreaming had been a tool of the shaman, the medicine man and the witch for thousands of years. It's been used to bring about enlightenment or as a occultic tool used by mediums and seers. It pretty much reaches into the heart of every esoteric question a Human has ever asked. That's why in a post a made a comment earlier that many people believe it to be a path to the darkside. That's the only way i can describe it. I stopped trying to lucid dream after a few bad experiences. I don't suggest even trying unless you are of very sound mental health.

DMT is the shit!!! I believe everyone should go through the experience and live an entire lifetime in the matter of minutes. You will have figured it all out and you will see yourself as your true vibration. You will only be left with vague memories, but when you return you will fit right in.

I havent had any lucid dreams, but I do remember actually having a dream where I saw a future event about a year later. The dream was a plane crashing into a tall building with a bunch of smoke everywhere. About a year later it happened on 9/11 :( Among a lot of other dreams I have had that happened some time later.
I dont have dreams that often these days, sadly. The one that I hated the most is the most common dream out there. Falling. I woke up sweaty as hell, and I felt as if my heart was going to explode it was beating so hard and fast.

Hmm, I wish I would dream once again, I used to have fairly lengthy dreams, be able to make decisions during dreaming and control them, and what not.

Then I had this period where I wouuldnt really have dreams, but I would get into this weird paralized state of mind, where It was like my mind was awake, but my body wasnt. I felt as if I could look around and think, but if I tried to speak, or move my body it would'nt work, till I forced myself outa that state of mind. Usually if it happens once in a night, it will do it again atleast 2 times after that in the same night..scary stuff. Probably happens maybe 1 to 2 nights within a 2 month period.

Ever since then I rarely ever have actual dreams..I want my dreams back! Haha =\

so i think i had a lucid dream last night. i remember realizing i was dreaming. i decided to try some dragonball z shit. hahaha
what is weird though, is i remember waking up from it eventually (obviously), but i don't remember if i actually woke up, or if i was dreaming about me sleeping and having a lucid dream..

basically, i feel like i was dreaming about myself dreaming and having a lucid dream..
i've been having this happen a lot lately where i dream about myself sleeping/dreaming.

I tried to talk to coworkers about it, and everyone looked at me like I was some weirdo. Its awesome that their is such a big response from Zilvians.

I get that too so I hardly tell anyone about it besides close friends. I have a REAAAAALLY hard time not getting excited and waking myself up. I've only done it twice and it wasn't for long but it was one of the coolest experiences ever. Has anyone ever woke up because you were laughing? Its really weird and I forgot wtf I was laughing at in the dream but when stuff starts warping and getting weird while you're awake in the dream, shits funny as hell to me :keke:

Im gonna watch the youtube movie and pick up that book/get a journal, I REALLY wanna do this again!! I feel like I'm amongst friends here :hs:

I really feel you on this one man I think its called sleep paralysis. It really is scary. After it happened I had trouble sleeping in fear that it would happen again. I even thought it was a ghost when it happened. I couldn't talk at all and if I tried to shout my neck started quivering if that makes sense. I hope I can achieve lucid dreaming without that happening when I wake up. I hated it and it made me sound crazy explaining it. :-/

It is weird to me that every time i get these type of dreams is when my alarm clock is about to go off and I have to wake up. One of my 2 favs that I can remember clearly, was when i was having some good sex with Carmen Electra lol. Crazy thing is I hadnt seen her on TV or heard anything about her for a few years back, but she all of a sudden popped up in my dream and i was facking this girl. I remember touching her, looking into her eyes and shiet like that. It felt so dam real. The dream ended as soon as my punk ass alarm clock rang. As I was dreaming, in the dream itself It felt as if the world stopped and only her and i were enjoying it, but as soon as the dream was cut and i woke up, it felt as the dream was real hella short and i needed like 5 more minutes to complete it lol. That day I woke up energized feeling like a pimp lol.

On the other dream i had, I remembered that within the dream I saw myself sleeping and then i woke up in the dream. When i woke up in the dream, it was night time I had this sudden urge of flying. So some how i just sky rocketed upwards towards the night sky and flew up. I felt the cold air hittin my face as i was moving and saw the clouds getting nearer. I could also see the city lights and me getting further away from ground. Then when i realized i was getting to far up i got scared and wanted to come back down. That is where i felt like i panicked and came crashing back down to my body and woke up breathing hard and felt scared for that on moment. CRAZY SHIET MAYNE.

right before i wake up from a lucid dream (not a full one. i realize im dreaming, then i wake up), i get really light headed and i can hear really high pitched frequencies and it feels like my whole head is shaking.

is that just me or does that happen to everyone?

Yeah, its like the dream distorts and crumbles. Everything I see starts warping and breaking apart and the high pitched noise turns into an almost crunching sound.

I used to have a job where I could go into work whenever I wanted, I started a new one where I have to wake up at 6am, for about a month or so I stopped dreaming because I'd be so tired I'd just pass out and I'd wake up in the AM to my alarm. Prior to this job I would do some very basic meditation before sleep, once I started doing that again I immediately started dreaming again, and on days where I can sleep in I get way more dreams. I know you have most of your dreams later in your sleep cycle, so if you aren't getting enough sleep you will not dream.

Completely agree with you man, yea I've read up many articles on sleep paralysis actually, some interesting info. Don't worry though, your not alone haha, I also have a few other close friends that have the same exact thing. Weird stuff.

I actually started trying to have lucid dreams when i first seen inception and ive done it about 6 times since the movie came out.. I really noticed however when i actually start to become in control of my dreams i start to slowly become awake and its like i cant seem to control it for much longer because i wake completely up.

I havent had a lucid dream in awhile though i just havent been trying to focus on it.

apparently i'm the only one who wants to experience sleep paralysis. i know everyone says it's scary as fuck and you don't wanna have the experience, but i'm curious as to what scares me. i don't fear death, so i really don't know what to expect. i do remember waking up from my first lucid dream, and i remembered about sleep paralysis, and i was terrified of what i might see, so i kept the pillow over my eyes. i wasn't even sure if i had sleep paralysis. more so it just felt like i was too tired to move. i couldn't move because i hadn't tried, but as soon as i tried, i was able to. so idk.

the only real fears i've had was when i was with my ex, and i had a fear of her getting hurt or raped by someone. but now that we aren't together anymore, i don't really have any fears again...

I just had another one last night. I haven't been able to maintain them like the very first one I had either. I can't seem to remember that (apparently) if you spin around in circles as fast as possible when the dream starts fading that it will prolong the lucidity. I am pretty sure I'll remember the next time.

so many dreams last night... i had at LEAST 5 dreams. haha
and AGAIN, i had a dream about me sleeping and waking up in my dream. the dream inside my dream was about demons and fighting and shit. when i woke up in my dream, i felt a very, very real pain. it felt like my soul was being pulled out from my chest. i remember breathing very hard and fast, and the pain was immense.

also had a short dream about some sexy time XD. definitely felt real. the funny thing is, i can feel everything in these dreams, but i can't control them. is it like a half-lucid state or something?

this is getting more and more interesting by the day. or by the night, rather.

as for the spinning thing when losing lucidity, i've found that not to work for me. it actually causes me to wake up faster.

Mine have been weird dreams within dreams as well. The past two lucid dreams I've had I've just ended up slipping into another dream where I was telling a bunch of friends I had a lucid dream. They weren't even kind of close to how real the original lucid dream I had was.

I also have dreams where I am fighting crazy monsters/demons, and they aren't nightmares because I win, lol. I somehow don't realize I'm dreaming though.

this is very strange...lol

i juuuust had, like straight out of a movie type wake up in your dreams 3 times in a row.

-dreaming some crazy shit, wish i could remember...something sudden happens, instantly wake up, sit up, breathe in fast at my gf's house,....realize i wasnt at my gf's house lastnight?
-wake up, sit up, breathe fast, in my bed with my gf....wait,.. you weren't here lastnight..?
-wakeup, sit up, watch my alarm turn a minute and go off to wake me up,...sitting there trying to think of what was out of place felt like forever, was probably only 30seconds tho...but turned out i was really awake this time.

maybe cuz we're reading about dreaming in dreams........?
