I have a few build threads on other sites like my350z, kcdrift.com, even the premium members on here but i dont get any comments so ill post into chat since this is a build thread, expect an update every weekend but today im gonna tell you guys my past right up to the present, and then future.

Currently im 16, i hustle hard to be able to this shit on my cars and i do NOT ask my mommy for anything, well at least not anymore, and sometimes she does surprise me with a part as a gift and what not. but anyways here we go:

it all started when i was about 13, i was watching a dvd i got from my sisters friend that worked for enkei wheels where this guy was interviewing keiichi tsuchiya while he showed various ways to intiate a drift in his s15. Anyways ive always loved cars since my dad owned a used car dealership while he was still alive, well we still own it but im saying my dad is the reason i like cars. my first "Drift" car that i purposefully bought was a 95 240sx, i have had many cars before then but this 240 was the first car i actually wanted to put all my money into. I bought it for $750 in an auction, i didnt pay for it with my money, since i really wasnt making any then. It was wrecked, but i saw what i could turn that car into.

i wish i would have done some research amd found out that there was something called "overfenders" lol because i didnt know about them back then so i just thought it had to be pulled, welded and bondoed...lol:facepalm: but it still came out alright. so after some body work, paint, interior reupholstry, exhaust, and some wheels i found at the dealership laying around, this was it:

I started learning a lot more about 240's and drifting so for my 14th birthday i asked for an sr20, so i went up to Dewey in STL at JDMHookup and he gave me a good deal on a zenki s14 front clip so my mom said "what the hell, ok"

I pulled the engine as soon as i got it to the shop, i stripped it to a bare longblock and painted EVERY part that was on it, i got the wiring done by yuri at wiring specialties and i got a cxracing fmic, walbro 255, ss turbo lines, nismo mounts, and some other odds and ends for the swap. The painting and swap of the sr took me about 2 months, not because i didnt know what i was doing because i am very mechanically inclined but because it was winter and i had to joggle school and sports as well as finding time to go down to the shop to work. but heres how it turned out (also got circuit sports clear lenses, best use of an oven ever lol)

anyways that was when my mom cut me off, she said she had enough of me using her money to fund my hobbies. So i began to sell my leftover 240sx parts, i hustled and gave people some great parts and great prices while still making enough money to fund my addiction to new parts. My next buy was BIG, at least for me at the time, i had saved up almost 2k and i wanted to blow it:snoop: so i bought this stuff, as well as z32 fronts and a cheap duraflex body kit, since i was at the time going hard streeting whenever i could, i couldnt afford to bust up a legit body kit.

now let me back track a little bit, for my 16th birthday my mom got me a 07 350z, she got a baller deal on it from another dealership so she said "what the hell, ok" lol. (current mods include a bride vios 3, apex'i exhaust, and some intakes, nothing crazy, since most of my money goes to my 240)

throughout these past 3 yrs ive been getting pretty good at drifting, and just driving in general, ive never crashed and never got a speeding ticket event though i dont drive like a pussy at all)
i wish i had more footage of me drifting in events but kansas drift events dont have too many videographers:-/ but heres some vids ive found that are of me or have me in them. (keep in mind the z had an open diff and bald ass front tires, and no ebrake...lol)

So back to the present, i recently tried selling my s14 to fund another s-chassis build but the buyer i was waiting for 2 months to buy my car flaked, so im just gonna keep it, i could find another buyer no prob, but the s14 is reliable and doesnt have any issues besides the stock suspension, so this winter im doing a full rebuild, today in fact i started taking out the engine and tranny to do front tubs, and tomorrow

i officially started the car "rebuild" , and i scheduled to get my car tubbed and caged by Omar in STL at nocturnal motorwork.

so today i woke up at 3:16pm, its the usual time when im on break from school, I got to the shop around 4 and got straight to work.

I also decided im gonna just go ahead and do a full chasebays engine bay (powersteering kit w/cooler, overflow tank, hidden ss brake lines and clutch line) partly because im doing tubs and need a new overflow tank, my powersteering hoses leak after driving and i need a cooler so it doesnt keep boiling, and the green-tan oem brake and clutch lines look like shit running above my sr :lol:

I buy local 240sx parts cars and part them out, takes awhile to have a good amount to spend but I've been saving all summer and fall, I don't make alot but if I save I can buy pretty much anything but patience is key. It also helps that I don't pay bills and rent

Well if it's just a pushed in dent on the qtr jut take off the rear interior panel and deflated ball and a 2x4 behind it and air up the ball, have a buddy watch the dent so he can tell you when to stop. It should pop out the dent, and then if there's left over marks or folds in the metal then a body shop could fix it for way cheaper than if they had to cut and weld a new panel.

Thanks man, but parting out stock 240s isn't as easy as it sounds and isn't always a profit, most parts don't sell, hell I have my shop full of random s-chassis parts but all the good stuff already sold so its just random crap.Lol

Yeah true , i was considering keeping the bondo since your rear quarter looks good , I just need an estimate on how much it'll be to cut and put in a new piece , but keep up the work dude so young but you know so much from tearing down those 240's , can't wait to see what's in store for later

Where did you get 10k from...? But anyways I've parted out like 6-7 240s in the past three years, I really haven't made much if you add up the few parts I've bought, coils/wheels/minor other stuff. I've been saving for awhile and my mom says she's paying my university tuition and rooming so I'm using some of my life savings in this build too, but not much. I dont see how many of you don't understand or believe me but this is a build thread not some financial summit... Update coming this weekendz

Yeah but I've only paid for like 4k of that, when I was selling it the price was like mostly because parents spent on the body repair, interior, and engine swap which added up to more than 10k if your counting my 4k I've put in in the last 1.5 yrs.

Lol, it doesn't matter if my parents paid for most stuff in the beginning, I was 13-14 and not very business smart, but I put in the work on the car. Obviously not the body work or the reupholster-ing but everything else I did, I'm not just some kid that had mommy pay some dude to build for me, just wait for the next update I just keep writing the same stuff over and over

It's cool no worries but do understand not everything was bought at the same time, body work was done because I needed the car to get plates and insurance, then few months later interior was done. Then it took me a year to convince my mom that an sr would be a good buy. And then the car stayed like that for about a year and I got to be a better driver while saving my money an then I began to buy parts from then til now. So don't think this was just a quick build, how I'm writing it makes it seem like it happens right after each other but that's not what happened, also know i don't for ask or buy "cool new shit" like $$ electronics or video games 100% of my money goes to cars which I guess can account for how I can afford some stuff with the money I earn. Thanks for everyone's comments and complements but try to keep your posts car related, no questions about my personal life. Thanks

WOW, an update is way overdue.

SO...I got the 14 back from Nocturnal Motorworks in STL and the cage turned out good, its very tight to the body and in some places directly welded to the body. I havent taken any pics but i will do that soon but for now heres a few that Omar took while he was building the tubs and cage...OH i forgot to say that the tubs are amazing, some of the best tubs ive seen.

So that was about three weeks ago, in those past 3 weeks i sold my spare RB25 swap and had a good amount of money saved up so i put it all into my paypal account and went shopping...

Please note that i ran out of room on that table, on the floor I have a pbm flex cobra downpipe the intercooler piping and i just ordered a kognition sunroof delete panel from a member on here

Also i ordered (but is out of stock) pbm FLCA/Tension combo and pbm eccentric steering bushings, those should come in by the end of march, hopefully.

So lets get down to the nitty-gritty, I still have to remove the front susp., sand the engine bay, remove the sound deadening, scotch brite the interior metal and cage, then ill move the car over to the paint booth and paint it all up. Im planning on doing a white engine bay and white cage with the rest of the car black. Most of you guys will say that mismatch colors look tacky but i love how they look and if i get tired of the color scheme i can always repaint it. Then its all a matter of stripping the rear susp and installing the new arms and bushings then put it all back together which is the fun part lol.

So im sorry for the lack of actual build pictures but ive just been focused on getting all my parts ready, i should be removing the front susp and stripping the sound deadening this weekend and HOPEFULLY get some primer on the engine bay and interior before its starts rusting because my shop is pretty humid sometimes.

So today i had off from school so i went to work, and actually remebered to take my dslr camera to get better pics then my crappy phone. Anyways today i got the Front Susp. off and the rest of the firewall stuff so that tomorrow i can scuff, sand, primer. Also today i worked on the interior, i stripped all the little interior stuff like speakers, misc wiring, and plastics; so that tomorrow i can pick up some dry ice and take off the sound deadening to get it ready for paint like the engine bay. I decided to paint the full cabin and cage white along with the engine bay, and with the 2yr old black paint on the exterior the car should look amazing when done, but i have ALOT of work to do until that point but im glad im doing it myself and not paying some dude to do it.

oh well my mom bought the z as a surprise present, but i bought all the parts, hence why i got xxrs, i cant spend thousands of $ on a nice set of works or what id really like, some regamasters but i do what i can and the only reason im gonna start buying legit parts is because in the past when i bought crap like megan/etc it didnt last, didnt perform well, and now i learned to wait and save my money hence my cage and long parts list.

yeah i know, i thought it was ricey too, i was planning on painting the valve cover white to offset some of the red but i ended up going to a pbm high mount set up instead and the piping will stay polished, i wont be painting it red lol

Today i got the sound deadening off, well all except for deadening on the top half of the rear seat; that part was a pain to keep the ice on it and it was the last thing i did so most of the ice was evaporated. Im thinking i just have to buy another block of dry ice and try it again. Also the tubs were building up alittle surface rust so i sanded them down and sprayed a little self etching primer on them just until i finish prepping the rest of the engine bay and the interior cabin and shoot my sealer primer.

Tomorrow im planning on finishing the sound deadening removal, and start the prep on the bay and cabin area. then next weekend ill move the car into the paint booth, mask it all up, buy the paint and shoot it. Hopefully itll be warmer than it is now.

well i dont have a tube bender nor a working* mig welder and im low on funds so taking the car back to Nocturnal is not an option. But i dont mind the oem rad sup. its not bent or rusted so its here to stay...for now

So today i had some free time so i went down to the shop to work, luckily i found some wax and grease remover in the back of the paint booth, i was gonna buy a new container and atart cleaning tomorrow but since i found some today i got to cleaning the engine bay. I also taped up the windshield so it looks like i accomplished alot today :P

i didnt want to buy another block of dry ice to get the rest of the sound deadening off, so i just hit it with my heat gun and a hand chisel. It was surprisingly easy and didnt take very long to do the tranny tunnel and the rear seat. So now thats done i just have to go over interior with the wax and grease remover to get the rest of the deadening off as well as the adhesive from my carpet.

Also i finally got the money for the paint stuff together so I WILL BE PAINTING THE CAR THIS WEEKEND :)

Its not perfect, there are some runs that ill buff out tomorrow, but still overall for my first time shooting with a paint gun its not half bad. I do have to admit there were sometimes that i was "holy shit, am i doing this right"

As soon as i get the rest of my order from chasebays ill install all of that, redo the chassis harness and then install the SR20 it once had, but with new goodies HAHA..

So Im putting the engine fusebox behind the dash where the ac/heater box were so i can keep the engine bay clean. So i extended the headlight/corner light wiring as well as the bmc wiring and fan wiring.

After 5-6hrs of straight cutting and soldering i finally finished the harness.

Also for those who spend the $60 on spl eccentric bolt lockout kits, i must say that that is a waste of money, i took my stock eccentric bolt to "nuts and bolts" and found the perfect sized washers, exact same sized 10.9 grade bolt, and cool blue nylon lock nuts for $11 total...

So yesterday i put all my rear suspension bolts and rear brake hardware in my vibrating tumbler and after 18 hours...they looked like they had been sandblasted lol

Another Update - 3.15.12

Today i got up early (10:30 am...lol) went to town on this beast:

Installed the new exhaust manifold gasket with some copper coat:

I then installed a new pilot bearing in the sr and a new throwout bearing in the tranny and proceeded to the install of the motor.

I like installing the tranny separately because its easier to scratch the paint when installing them together.
so i proceeded to install the tranny...on the floor...alone...with a jack = pimp status...

Its not black, i guess since its in the shadow it looks like its black, buts the normal polish silver color.

yeah its the engine bay chassis harness. to find the the headlight plugs, just look on the back of your headlights and see which one matches up. if you cant because you dont have your lights or something just pm me and ill help you out.

thanks, and the exhaust is a cheap $125 exhaust off ebay, it fits pretty great and looks good. I got it for free from a buddy that ordered a couple extra.

sidenote: My old exhaust fit like shit and kept hitting the subframe so i had to upgrade either way.

I still have to fix a couple leaks and bleed all the air out of the brakes, clutch, ps, coolant, etc.
But It turns on perfectly, i hadnt plugged in the power connector to the interior driver side fusebox so i wasted a couple days trying to figure out the silly mistake, but once i connected it, it started up perfectly fine.

The video of it starting is on my facebook wall if anyone is interested, also keep in mind the waste gate wasnt getting a vacuum source so it was stumbling alittle.

So I go the pbm rack bushings a few weeks ago but didnt realize it until a few days ago so i put those on:

I got my faux suede recovered dash from my upholstery guy and i wired up the greddy gauges, sidenote: everytime the gauges get power they do that cool needle calibrating thing, it looks super cool, its the first time ive had electric gauges so that little detail really makes them that much cooler.

Also in the pic above you can kinda see that the ac trim piece has a little black block off plate, yeah i made that out of some scrap aluminum my auto tech teacher had, it looks so much cleaner and i painted it to match the trim texture and color. Ill get a better pic soon. I also tired making a panel for the gauges but i made the gauge holes too big so ill try again soon so i can mount them up securely instead of with electrical tape and their center of gravity lol

So here this past weekend, i took the car out of the paint booth after fixing all of the little leaks:

The Exhaust was hitting the bumper support so i got some clamps and got it to be right against the support so no more clunking from that at least:

I took it out for a drive and it drove pretty bad, the alignment was all over the place,plus the rear tire was low on air so i didnt even try kicking it sideways. Heres a couple pics of me coming back from my 20 sec test drive.

Tomorrow i have a computerized alignment scheduled at noon at a shop like a block from my shop to reduce the risk of me crashing or some bs happening before its ready to drive, so im hoping the car will feel amazing after its aligned to my specs

Update Time...

So Going back to where i left off, i had an alignment scheduled so i went to that:

Heres my car at the alignment shop, no aero so it can get on the rack. lol

The tech was REALLY particular about his work so we spent 2-3 hrs on the rear alone, just to get it at straight 0

Though after tightening the arms the specs went +- 0.01
Final Specs were:

Front:
-Camber: -3.26 / -3.31
-Toe: 0.13 / 0.12
-Caster: 6.52 / 6.49
Rear:
-Camber: 0.02 / 0.01
-Toe: 0.01 / 0.01

After the Alignment the car felt really predictable and just overall fun to drive.

Next i installed the battery box/Tie down:

I measured to make sure it even on both sides and used tape as guidelines:

Then i found that my right front 26mm z32 caliper was leaking... 4 days until the drift event...
Luckily my cousin had some nice aluminum 30mm z32 brakes so i had to get them:

Next i made an intake coupler so i can mount my hood, it ended up causing a major vac leak but ill go into that later.

I mounted my bride rep and my takatas at my house and washed the car: (note i do have a real zeta 3 but i didnt want mount it since the event here in topeka doesnt require a fia legal seat, but ill have it once i need it)

On the way to the event the car was running fine, idle was rough but once driving it ran fine. I now think it was a vacuum leak from the new intake setup since i never had that issue until i changed it. The car drove the 1hr drive perfectly fine at 3.5-4k rpms the whole way there, no issues. Water temp at around 80-90 degrees C, which is great.

First Run my front wheel was hitting the fender, i mean alot!!! so i ended up just rolling the inner lip in and the the part that hit the wheel outwards. Im gonna need to do some body work before the next event.

Throughout the event the car drove fine, even though my greddy gauges suddenly went out...i checked the inline fuse and it was fine...so if anyone has an idea what could have happened please let me know

Then i started trying some entries with some more angle, but the first run my ebrake broke... my guess is my cable is incredibly stretched out. But still i managed some angle with clutch kicks:

Besides my gauges going out and my ebrake going out, the car was a blast to drive, it was predictable and i only spun out two times the whole event, due to trying to keep too much angle through one the last corners.

By the end of the day my idle was getting worse, it would die after 5secs of idling, still i drove it since i figured it was just a vac leak or a bad iacv.

I almost hit the wall messing around in the figure 8 practice area, luckily i knew what i was doing so i let off the gas.

Then Since my car vibrates a shit load due to the solid mounts, one of the bolts of the slave cyl fell off, then without knowing i pushed in the clutch and "plushhh..." the slave blew out. I put it back together and decided it was time to head home, i was getting alittle crazy on the track lololol.

Before i left i weighed my car...2519 lbs with a helmet, camera, and gatorade in the car!

Last but not least, i wanted to see if i could find where i was leaking air and i found that over the course of the event my filter was losing bolts... i dont think thats the reason for my bad idle since its before the maf but idk.

Wow, yeah mine has a carbon fiber hood and it still weighs that much. That's because I have a 1j. Before that my car weighted 2700. But I still have sound deadening, speakers, etc. Only real thing stripped from the interior are the back seats.

Small Update...

I fixed the vacuum leak, turned out to be a ruptured hose. Its currently running beautifully all except it has a slight misfire when started cold, after a few seconds it idles great...im curious to what could be the problem but its not a big deal.

I fixed the ebrake, shit now locks! and the cable tightener nut is fully loosened so im pumped for my upcoming event at the end of this month at PPIR in colorado, the TCD Drift Comp. should be an awesome event with walls!!! YESS!

The only thing I dont like about this car is that my welded diff has developed a clunk, it has a pretty substantial amount of the play in the ring gear, so my next upgrade will be a 2way, hopefully before the colorado event but we'll see.

Yesterday i went to a local "work on your car" meet, at a sponsors DIY auto shop. It was fun and i worked alittle on my car and found the reason my greddy gauges went out...stupid ass crimp connectors werent tight enough and came undone, but ill solder those babies up and itll be good as new.

Also for those who spend the $60 on spl eccentric bolt lockout kits, i must say that that is a waste of money, i took my stock eccentric bolt to "nuts and bolts" and found the perfect sized washers, exact same sized 10.9 grade bolt, and cool blue nylon lock nuts for $11 total...

How the F did you get these bolts for $11? At Lowes a single 8.8 grade M12 was $5 and each nut was a dollar, plus they didn't even have the right size washer.

Yeah, pretty much. I'm sure I picked up a bit of weight from bigger wheels and some other small things that got done when the swap happened, but yeah, I gained 200lbs from the jz swap. Kinda sucks. And to think that the 2j weighs a bit more. Oh, well I just need to get a single and make more power

For your idle problem try taking your idle Air control out and giving it a clean seems to be pretty common on sr's and rb's. Great build though by the way !!

Update...Sorta...

So picking up where we left off...

It was two weeks before the TCD Drift Competition at PPIR, the car was running great. The idle was fixed, the problem was a ruptured hose coming from the HMIC Piping.

Then I fixed the Greddy Gauges, the "quality Gold Plated" crimp connectors were shit and came undone at the 6/2 event in topeka. So i soldered the wires up and its working perfectly again.

Honestly i dont remember what else i did the week before the event, the car was done and i just chilled.

the one thing i do remember is buying tires and mounting them up, which im getting pretty good at doing. :)

About an 1hr and 30mins in mikes temps gauge was acting weird and reading that it was hot, we did some work on it and got back on the road. *We later found that the gauge was reading incorrectly, i had a laser thermometer and that helped him out substantially*

Right Before qualifying on day 2, i swapped my tires and i went back out onto to staging, the tires were cold and i was trying super hard to get the line down, so i came in hot and went into the grass, the bumper blew up.

Some notes from the event:

I was working on getting my line down and consistency up, i only spun 3 times the whole event, but i still want more practice.

I was getting terrible boost response, hitting full boost at 4100rpm, on a stock t28 8psi...Shit sucked, but it was a combination of the thinner air and my exhaust leak i had at the manifold, i still have to fix that before the next event.

also I got eliminated in the first round by Eric Costen of Drift Factory, he's a cool dude, but still im not proud of losing.
It was my first time tandeming and i couldn't follow very well. My lead runs were great but following...well i just need more practice.

So all in all i had a blast, 2 day events are the funnest thing out there because you get there the first day, drift all day, party at night, wake up and drift all day the next day, then go home.

If i can just fix my boost/exhaust leak issue and get it boosting back around 2500-3000 i know i can do way better than i did. But i still have a long ways to go, and its gonna be fun.

after the event we camped again at the KOA, woke up, ate and then headed home. Both Drift cars made it home running perfectly like they were before we left. Im Really proud of my car and the work i did, i took my time and it hasnt let me down yet...except that stupid exhaust leak...

Naw, you sure it wasnt a 3-7 drift train that you saw since I never was paired up with the black vert. I lost to the red drift factory s13 coupe. People said I should have won but we went one more time and then I fucked up on the following run. But not bad for my first time tandeming. I'll be doing an update soon. Thanks for reading. :)

I disassembled one of my open diffs so i can install my new Nismo unit, and of course i painted it.

I had one left over...so i decided to see what it would look like in my corner light. Safe to say i wont be rocking these around town but at the track it would look sinister through tire smoke, so i ordered another 4 of them for $3.15. I got them today.

Once i put the 2way i bought a go kart to spend the rest of my summer having some fun, got new clutch/brakes/bearings, it finally ran amazing so i ended up flipping it at the end of vacation.

So that brings us to this past weekend, KCDrift "Midnight Summers Drift" at Heartland park Topeka. It was a blast as always. the track was FAST. Another zilvia member "Aled" with the 1.5jz s14 said he was in 4th gear on entry then down to 3rd the rest of the track. I was in 3rd on entry and down to 2nd by the end, It was easy once i got my line down. Sadly i only had 3 pairs of tires, they were all triangle talons, i ran them in colorado and they last FOREVER, so i figured it was enough but since the track was so fast my left side tire kept overheating and de-laminating, 3 of my 6 tires went to shit in a few runs...but whatever i need to run better tires anyway. My car ran great, no issue except my powersteering began to whine after the event, maybe low on oil? i havent even looked at it but ill fix it. Now Pics:

Well, thats were im at now. Im still looking for footage of me from the event, i have my go pro footy but i forget to stop the recording so i need to edit them alittle, each ones like 4 minutes and 1 of those is actual driving lol.

Also i pre-ordered a BCL Wing when they opened up the pre-ordering, so i cant wait to get that.

Next on the list are some new front tires, probably some federal RSRs since ive read they heat up quickly and theyre pretty grippy. And then a bunch of rear tires for upcoming events.

So besides installing a couple new parts, i finally got my 14 mobile again, the problem was i didnt have any tires so i took my wheels from this:

So the car is now mobile, i still want to fix the powersteering issue before i drive it, ill probably order a bigger oil cooler unit for the powersteering (probably the same size as my engine oil cooler)
The ittybitty chasebays cooler doesnt keep my fluid from boiling and it leaks, so the extra $100 for the chasebays powersteering cooler probably isnt the best use of you money if you ask me...

Anyways in other news, this last KCDrift event in october will be my last event of the season, over the winter the car will only receive minor upgrades to prepare for MDU Proam next season. Next year should be loads of fun, Im really looking forward to competing. I plan on running RSRs in the front, then consistently running new Achilles ATR Sports in the rear because all the Proam guys have nothing but great things to say about them, and theyre pretty cheap.

im running nismo fluid and theres no chatter from the diff, even around tight turns. When i broke it in i just used napa 80w-90 gear fluid and it chattered quite a bit. It just depends on the fluid you use. Ive heard you can use regular gear oil and add friction modifier to get rid of the noises, but im just gonna run nismo fluid since it seems to work great.

Update!

We left off with getting tires back on the S14 and allowing me to finally park it correctly in the shop. Since then i have:

Installed the new power steering cooler and revised the routing of the lines by cutting alittle bit more of the rad support and painting the bare metal.

Also i recently got accepted into the Achilles Racer support program so im going to be running Achilles tires all of next year! So Im still pretty stoked about that even though i got that news last thursday.

Today i ordered my first pair of 235/40/18 Achilles 123s from them for the front, I was told that ill most likely get those before the Oct. 6th so i can test them out before the seasons over. I was gonna order a bunch of ATR Sports 2s for the rear but theyre sold out in my size since its the end of the season, but ill get those for next year

Achilles 123s, Theyre supposed to be super grippy, so I cant wait to run them since i have had issues last event with understeer.

Another UPDATE...because no comments

I bought a stealth customs front tension rod brace back when I started this whole rebuild but i wanted to do a few events without it to really feel if it makes a difference...and i didnt have a big enough drill bit to drill the bolt holes in the braces, haha.

Also ever since i had this car i was running on blown ball joints, so i figured id go and get new ones. *Reference* (MOOG Part # K9820)

The ball joints were amazingly easy to remove, i just took off the snap ring, put the arm in a vise, then 2 hits with a 3lb sledge and they popped out.

Back on the car, I also put on a rear sway bar since i was having understeer issue last event.

Tiny Update:

Tonight I was bored so I decided to undercoat the part of the car that I didnt do back when I was building it. FYI - I used a piece of cardboard to block the parts when spraying to avoid overspray and then wiped them down with brake clean to remove any accidental overspray. I think it came out pretty well for only putting in an hour and half of work.

Update:

SO, after the undercoating, I put tires on my OZs and put the car on the ground. I went to start it up, put the key in the ignition and "ssizzzzzzzz" i see tons of smoke from the engine bay...OH $%!T. i disconnected the battery and went to see what happened. The alternator power cable terminal loosed and was resting on one of the oil cooler lines and melted a hole in the line and all the insulation on the cable. So i pulled the alternator, rewired the power cable and got it back to new, but then came the issue of the oil line :/ I took off the line and went to Star Performance in Lenexa, by the time i got there i had decided that i just wanted to get a whole new line since this one was already too short and the fittings were crimp ons so I needed to get new fittings as well...

I was planning on doing an oil change after the KCDrift event this weekend before going to CO, since the oil I had was only used for one event and around 500 miles... but i had to drain it so yeah, thats another $45 out of my tire fund.

The day I melted the line i was in a bad mood so i just drained the oil and went home, I put the fittings on the hose during school today, and i gotta say that was a pain at first but once i figured out an easy way to install them i began to think it was fun to build your own lines. Plus now thats another service we offer at Profound Motorsports :)

Safe to say that brightened my day, i was pumped to "unwrap the traction". Ill install these thursday or so.

So TODAY, i installed the new AN Line, Put in the new oil, and reinstalled the alternator and started up the car. It started up perfectly as usual, but i heard a "puhpuhpuhpuh" from the exhaust side of the engine. In my mind i was like "fuck, not another exhaust leak" but yes sadly the lock nuts from the manifold to turbo had backed off... im guessing that attributes to my boost decrease last event (i didnt write about that because i didnt think it was a big deal) but yeah i gotta fix that before the event this Saturday, good thing i have the gasket instock!

Running just a rear sway bar felt amazing this past event, almost as if my transitions are smoother.
And yeah i adjusted the pbm flcas to about 15-20 longer than stock s14 lcas

So now that I knew exactly where the leak was, i pulled the mainfold off the turbo to swap gaskets:

Good thing i had a new OEM Gasket instock as well as new oblong locknuts (I also got a pair of sr20 manifold gaskets from oreillys to hold me over until the offseason when i plan on getting a 7 layer gasket from nismo, i gotz a hookup :LOL:)

Next I took off the white xxrs off my 350z and put on the new Achilles 123s, (A short review follows below)

Then i put the white wheels on and went for a drive...and WOW! I was amazed how fresh the car felt, it finally held boost and had compressor surge again...dont worry thats a good thing! It drove exactly how i imagined it would back before i did the rebuild of the chassis. (the pic below is me coming back from a drive, with the new headlight bulbs :)

So the car was ready to go, The morning of the event i did my usual "wash the car and fill up the tank" routine i do before every KCDrift event. Heres a pic of the car at BP

The KCDrift Event was a blast, the track was awesome and fun, and great for tandem practice, which what i did all day! Heres a pic of me at the line with another driver, Phil Dark, getting ready to tandem.

Sadly i havent really found any videos of the tandems runs, but ill update if i do.

Towards the end of the event HPT let a few drivers go on the roadcourse to try it out, IT WAS AWESOME to say the least. The north half was the best and it had this sick line that i was immediately able to get down. Heres a video of my second run ever on this track. Keep in mind since we only got two runs, i hadnt gotten the right speed dialed in so i had to correct a couple times to make the downhill transition but if i had a couple more runs i would have killed it, and i cant wait to start running achilles tires in the rear because they make more smoke!

So that was that, the event was the best one this season; The car felt great, powerful and absolutely no understeer with the amazing Achilles 123s up front, im so greatful that Achilles gave me the opportunity to run their tires. Cant wait for next year.

The following Monday, i took my car to my Auto Tech Class to do an alignment since i can do them for free at school!

I guess my caster went up from 6.5 to 7.2 and 7.9, i had 0.63 and 0.48 of toe in in the rear and other weird stuff so i changed it up alittle. I went to slight neg camber in the rear, 0 toe in the rear, and put my front caster to 7.2. (ignore the caster since its not live readings it was stuck at 7.9 but i did fix it)

Thanks guys, and yeah "Tabasco69" my mom did help me pay for the car and the sr in the beginning, but everything else ive paid for and so far its gonna stay that way. I know i wouldnt have gotten this far without my parents and i give them credit and praise everyday, but dont overlook what i personally have put into this car. Also (PS: i saw the original post you made, not cool dude, read the thread before bashing...)

So i left off with pulling off the old tires of my drift spares a week before driftoberfest. After that:

I borrowed a trailer from my teacher and loaded up the day before the event. (and yes, its strapped to the rear subframe and front tow hook, not just the wheels LOL)

So after that i headed out, I drove 9.5 hrs straight to CO, alone...everyone had something going on so i said fuck it and went alone. Im actually glad i did, being alone allowed me to meet so many more people, because if your with a group of people you usually only hang out with them...

I got to CNS at 4:30 am friday and went to sleep outside the entrance. LOL

The Event was fun, the track was fun. It really made you get on line or you would hit the ditches or put dirt/rocks on the track and get heckled for it haha!

I immediately got on line after my first run (my first run was terrible, but after that...fun stuff)
(Gotta give thanks to Dan Brockett, Forrest, Kasey king, and William lynn, theyre advice really helped me learn where i could improve) (also these next 3 pictures, Forrest is actually in the passenger seat, i guess the stock s14 seat wasnt holding him like his bucket, he was hanging on hard. :P)

Later the first day we did a night practice, which was sweet and tandems were a blast:

One of the last runs of the night, i was following Kasey Kohl and we were riding high on the bank, i was like half a car link behind him and he was pelting my car with rock on the track from people going off track. I ended up with a million with rock chips and a shattered quarter glass, haha, it sucks but its drifting this shit happens and was fun. I really felt bad for my passenger, she got hit with a rock in the face LOL!

Second day was the best, I woke up mounted tires then went to practice. I did like 3 runs and called it good, i was ready for quals.

My first qualifying run, i just messed up and got a bad score. Then my second run, i was on line, hit all the clips, it was good. I wish i could have held more angle but i was overcentering like no other.

So when the tandem comp came around i changed to new tires, bigger tires. I totally blanked that i would have more grip. So i lead first since i qualified higher and i bobbled twice the first run. Im not sure how the other driver did but from my eyes i had to do a killer follow run to make up for it.

in the follow run, i wanted to be on him to make up for the bobbles. Off the line my car accelerated faster so i lifted and then he blasted off. So i mashed the pedal and went after him. I was gaining proximity on the bank but when the dip came around i transitioned in the wrong place, hit the dip hard and spun...I was bummed.

The rest of Comp, i just hung out with all the cool people i knew/met at the event. It was crazy how good Forrest and Mike pollard are, But i guess once youve been drifting for that long, being amazing is inevitable.

After the comps it was open track, I just relaxed and burned up some of the leftover tires

This event was awesome, its what drifting is all about, just having fun, meeting cool people and KillinShitDaily! :P

i see you have the max hmic with no bov, have you personally seen turbo problems?

No issues, PBM swears that it doesn't do that much damage to the turbo at all. If it does it's over a long period of time. My s14 turbo I took off was minty, no shaft play at all. Read the first few pages...looks like a lot of the "hating" has stopped, but its just jealousy. I remember buying my first skyline when I was 18, an old GTR with a blown motor. Most people were envious of me, yet I couldn't help but look at the kids driving their R32s and Supras to high school and say "damn lucky kids"....its a vicious cycle.

Anyways kudos to you on the build, its gone quite a ways now. keep givin'er kid!

Dude the build is sick as fuh it makes me want to build an s14 but i gotta know you said you sold an rb swap is there a reason you went with the sr over the rb??? Great build keep it going and if u make it.to utah or cali one i hope.to race against you

RBs are very heavy, S chassis are smaller lighter cars and don't always need the extra weight. all depends on how much power you want, usually an SR is sufficient
